Royal Baby name making me rage

Firstly, I know that I am ridiculous and unreasonable and totally over invested but it is GIVING ME THE ABSOLUTE RAGE that the Royals haven't released the name of the baby yet. I'm sure they are doing it deliberately just to exercise the tiny scraping of power they actually have over us. They are doing evil laughs behind the curtains of Buck House and saying "let the commoners wait..."

I'm surprised they didn't put Michael in there somewhere. King Michael of Romania was a cousin of the queen as is Prince Michael of Kent so a distantly royalish name already. And dd1's boyfriend is Michael and he's quite posh.

Thebirthdayparty · 27/04/2018 23:35

Perhaps if they have another and it is a girl they will name her first Caroline. in honour of her maternal grandmother.

Do you think they delayed announcing the name until Charles returned from Scotland and they could tell him one of the baby’s names was in his honour? As well as their daughter’s first name? Kind of makes me rethink the supposedly icy relationship between William and Charles.

JustaLittlePrick · 28/04/2018 00:34

I'd love to know why they delayed the announcement so long and what was really going on behind the scenes.

Williams's "we're working on it" comment the other day made me think they couldn't agree between themselves. Or maybe it was just to deflect the question.

I don't think Louis is a strong name at all. It's too close to Louise for my liking but it's cute and the most important thing is that they like it rather than lumbering the child with a royal name just because it's the done thing. Still think they wasted the middle names and could have included Philip or Michael.

JustaLittlePrick · 28/04/2018 00:37

Maybe Kate took the view that Charlotte was the nod to her own family (Pippa) rather than Charles so he deserved another go.

Shame for Prince Philip though. Everyone was certain he'd be in there somewhere.

JustaLittlePrick · 28/04/2018 00:39

Charles Spencer (William's BLOOD family) has a Charlotte and a Louis so he must be feeling pretty flattered.

JustaLittlePrick · 28/04/2018 01:38

Also very odd to think that Camilla and Charles now have two grandchildren called Louis.

Laura Parker Bowles has a Louis.

That's odd, isn't it?

Also very odd to think that Camilla and Charles now have two grandchildren called Louis.

They can give the new one the nickname Touis to differentiate.

Louise56 · 28/04/2018 09:18

Louis is quite a Royal name. One of Queen Victoria's granddaughters, Victoria of Hesse, married Prince Louis of Battenberg, and their son Louis Mountbatten was Prince Charles's godfather.

ProperLavs · 28/04/2018 09:23

The Royal family have all got each other's names anyway.

The80sweregreat · 28/04/2018 09:29

Louis Walsh is probably pleased!
Its a nice name though and fits in with the other children's names.

catherinedevalois · 28/04/2018 10:54

Both Charles and William have Philip Arthur as middle names so Philip probably doesn't feel that miffed. I wonder what the obsession with Arthur is? Arthur, Duke of Connaught is the only 'recent' Royal I can think of and not a major player I wouldn't have thought.

TheKimJongUnofFeminism · 28/04/2018 11:00

2 grandchildren with the same name is very wierd, though. And could be interpreted as a kick in the teeth-"You're not a proper granny"

Aragog · 28/04/2018 19:30

I'm not sure it is that unusual. My own grandma has a couple of grandson's with the same name and at least one great grandchild (and possibly a great great grandchild) with that name. DH's aunt has a grandson and a great grandson with the same name.
