For being bitterly disappointed at the language and attitudes of people on MN lately?

I started using MN for support when I was going through hard times, hopefully supporting people when they were going through their hard times, learn new things, catch up with news etc. Lately however every thread I go on seems to be one big fight session. People are either being purposefully nasty or having a go at anyone who disagrees with their opinion - foul language included in the bundle. Is this really what this site is turning in to? Surely everyone is entitled to an opinion and surely if you don't agree and can't be mature about you should follow my mother's advice 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'.

I was at Samaritans the other day and said 'jesus' after reading a particularly long email.

My co Samaritan said 'you are talking about someone who is really dear to me'

I nearly laughed - perhaps it would have been better if I had said FUCK - which I would normally do

I'd tell a 4yr old...

"We are all different, some are nice & some are not & none of us are nice all of the time!"

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 14/05/2007 17:42

My names Boris Dinosaur, this is my fancy dress costume.

Not personal, I've said worse and had worse said to me.

Rhubarb · 14/05/2007 17:48

May I just intercept by saying that I said a lot of posts copy cod's style, I did not say that they are all cod because I honestly don't know. There are a group of Mumsnetters who seem to enjoy name changing and throwing out insulting one-liners. I don't know who they are as they all seem to morph into one.

They know who they are however and I now politely ask them to consider other peoples feelings if they are capable of that, and if they are going to insult, at least post in your own name and defend your point!

filthymindedvixen · 14/05/2007 17:48

parp isn't rude to the poster, it doesn't mean 'oh ffs you're boring'' or anything.
it merely means:

''I am leaving this thread as the subject matter is one which I feel strongly about and I don't wish to wind myself up as I am likely to say something you will regret''

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 14/05/2007 17:48

Christ Fio.. I wouldn't know where to begin looking for it in a house the size of yours...!! I'd call a psychic...

LittleMouseWithCLogsOn · 14/05/2007 17:48

i thought we were freinds

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 14/05/2007 17:49

OK FMV I'll be sure not to take it personally next time. Genuinely.
