For being bitterly disappointed at the language and attitudes of people on MN lately?

I started using MN for support when I was going through hard times, hopefully supporting people when they were going through their hard times, learn new things, catch up with news etc. Lately however every thread I go on seems to be one big fight session. People are either being purposefully nasty or having a go at anyone who disagrees with their opinion - foul language included in the bundle. Is this really what this site is turning in to? Surely everyone is entitled to an opinion and surely if you don't agree and can't be mature about you should follow my mother's advice 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'.

you dont HAVE to go on mn
its optionla
i think threads liek thsi are pointless

Judy1234 · 14/05/2007 17:23

Swearing is usually just a sign of a small vocabulary and abuse says more about the person abusing than anything else.

What we don't want is some kind of happy clappy all is wonderful in the garden of roses because we are women and we never display a different view from anyone else because we are nice as pie Stepford Wives who void all confrontation which is a "male" characteristic so in stead we praise and praise whatever our view and keep those views behind faked forced smiles.

AlanThePartridge · 14/05/2007 17:23

I'm WelshBoris by the way. Name changing to say something is one of my bugbears. Be a Man and say it under your real name you fecking chickens.

I agree with Rhubs and Northerner.

Boco · 14/05/2007 17:24

You tell those chickens, Partridge!

AlanThePartridge · 14/05/2007 17:25

Of course it's optional, but you moan about MN at times Cod.

Why is this different. You don't like the AIBU topic, well MN is optional so if you don't like it that much why don't you just leave?

AlanThePartridge · 14/05/2007 17:25

Fowl play again Boco

Not offended by parp. Just don't understand what it means!

ScottishThistle · 14/05/2007 17:32

I ignore parpers & whingers, it's my Nanny training - comes in very handy!

unknownrebelbang · 14/05/2007 17:32

Which is more tedious:

The "whingers" who post slating attitudes etc on MN.

or

The posts that follow whinging about the whingers?

LittleMouseWithCLogsOn · 14/05/2007 17:32

Oh noooo. swearing doesn't have to have anything to do with a lack of vocabulary. Sometimes it just feels good

But I stand by what I said about there being a difference between swearing.. and swearing at people

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 14/05/2007 17:35

Dinosaur, yes, have felt offended by PARP (and am not that easily offended) when I am trying to thoughfully make a point and someone comes along and parps. (Which for the record means, "yawn it's all been done before, boring! Talk about something else why don't you!" .. how rude!)

Agree with Shiny about the swearing. If you stub your toe really hard, saying 'oh gosh' simply does not cut it.

LittleMouseWithCLogsOn · 14/05/2007 17:37

no it doesnt
it means I am likely to sexplode if i tlak about his as it really gets my goat

if the parp up[sets you then move on

unknownrebelbang · 14/05/2007 17:38

I WANT to live in cottonwool land.

please.

lol

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 14/05/2007 17:39

Yeah I live in cotton wool land Cod Don't be such a ignorant fish. Nobody likes to feel their contribition is boring or irrelevant, especially if the subject means a lot to them.

And go "sexplode" somewhere else will you? [bleeugggrrhh] Don't like the sound of that at all...!

LittleMouseWithCLogsOn · 14/05/2007 17:39

i do it in a thong
