AIBU about cucumber

TellMeItsNotTrue · 25/04/2018 13:32

I never thought that there was a right or wrong way to eat cucumber, but my friend says the way I have it is weird

I think the way she has it is odd but not really bothered because it's just cucumber, who cares? She won't let it go though so we are turning it over to MN to find out which is more common way of eating cucumber

A) Eaten whole, biting in to it like a banana
B) Sliced on salad/sandwich or in strips for snack/with lunch
C) Other way of eating it?

D) Buy it add it to the collection of other unopened, rotten cucumbers in the fridge. Look at it for a week. Throw in bin once it has turned to black smush.

flubdub · 25/04/2018 22:01

Oh, and B!
A is just weird Confused

EBearhug · 25/04/2018 23:07

scoop out the seeded centre and fill with mayo for a snack

I need a diagram for this. Surely the middle of the cucumber is the whole point in eating the watery bastards?! That just sounds like cucumber skin filled with mayo instead of the actual vegetabley bit

No - there's skin, the thin, dark green bit; there's the flesh; and there's the seedy jellyish bit in the middle. So you scoop out the seedy bit (eating it, rather than discarding it,) and you're left with flesh and skin, and fill the hole that is now in the middle with mayo.

(No diagram, on phone.)

AdaColeman · 25/04/2018 23:22

Or instead of mayo use cream cheese out of a tube for quickness!

ooodile · 25/04/2018 23:35

My FIL peels them.

Ollivander84 · 25/04/2018 23:53

C) to decorate my Hendricks g&t Grin

AlmostAJillSandwich · 25/04/2018 23:58

I do both. I use it sliced or chuned in salads, on wraps etc, but sometimes i cant be bothered making a sandwich i'll grab a big old chunk, if not the whole half that's left, and a big old chunk of cheese ,and alternate bites.

Ski40 · 26/04/2018 00:04

I blend it with tomatoes, peppers, garlic and olive oil and vinegar plus iced water to make cold gazpacho soup. It's beautiful in the summer.
The banana thing gave me a visual.
It's late and I need to take my mind out of the bloody gutter I know, I know... 😁

cindersrella · 26/04/2018 00:07

My 7 year old does A, I do B as for C... I have heard a few other ways cucumber shave been used but never eaten 😂😂

cindersrella · 26/04/2018 00:08

Shave lol! I mean have

imeatingaburger · 26/04/2018 00:27

B if I'm doing a sandwich
A if I'm just hungry in need of a snack

Atticusss · 26/04/2018 00:33

B is the norm. My kids prefer it like A though, I've lost count of the amount of times they've stolen one whilst I've been putting the shopping away and eaten it all like that. They are much more likely to eat it if I stick half of one on their plate instead of in slices. Likewise peppers, they eat them like apples.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 26/04/2018 12:08

Ok you have all reassured me that I'm not a complete lunatic Grin although my friend now just thinks there are lots of weird people out there Hmm

To the people who do A - does the juice not run everywhere? I can imagine it being messy if I attempted that. I don't think you are odd though Grin I really have no strong feelings about how people eat cucumbers...and I didn't realise that anyone did until yesterday Confused

sarcasmisnotthelowestformofwit · 26/04/2018 12:12

There is no correct way to eat cucumber bits is the devils food.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 26/04/2018 12:14

Sleight that really made me laugh Grin which is a big achievement at the moment Smile I'm not sure that I can risk leaving a dentastix by her though, she already thinks I'm bonkers Grin

Red funnily enough, I'm not called Sophie but she is Shock maybe she has been influenced by the BFG Wink

YABU to eat cucumber.

Cucumber is vile and disgusting and contaminates everything it comes into contact with Envy

champagneplanet · 26/04/2018 13:08

DD would do A if I let her, usually I cut a big chunk off for her, she's very into salad, not sure where she gets it from Grin

champagneplanet · 26/04/2018 13:09

D) Slice off a 5mm piece and place in gin and tonic Wink

soupforbrains · 26/04/2018 13:37

oh yes @champagneplanet that's one of my favourites too. SO refreshing.

Bluntness100 · 26/04/2018 13:43

Ive never seen anyone do A and the mental image actually made me laugh.

Does she pick up roast chickens and eat them whole too?

Can you post an image for us of her pretending a cucumber is a banana and eating it whole. Please? 🤣

Katyb1310 · 26/04/2018 18:19

Sliced or in sticks but my 8 year old DD loves to eat it like your friend does! She's a total cucumber fiend!

DuchyDuke · 26/04/2018 18:21

Cut in half and slathered with salt red chilli powder and lemon juice is the best way :)

FastWindow · 26/04/2018 18:27

Sliceed wafer thin and marinated in the fridge in cider vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Very Scandinavian and awesome with steamed salmon and a dollop of sour cream.

OftenHangry · 12/08/2018 16:07

A😁

Bluebird1234 · 12/08/2018 16:50

Once worked with a woman who ate cucumber in style A in the office daily. Thankfully only worked with her for a very short time
