AIBU about cucumber

I never thought that there was a right or wrong way to eat cucumber, but my friend says the way I have it is weird

I think the way she has it is odd but not really bothered because it's just cucumber, who cares? She won't let it go though so we are turning it over to MN to find out which is more common way of eating cucumber

A) Eaten whole, biting in to it like a banana
B) Sliced on salad/sandwich or in strips for snack/with lunch
C) Other way of eating it?

scoop out the seeded centre and fill with mayo for a snack

I need a diagram for this. Surely the middle of the cucumber is the whole point in eating the watery bastards?! That just sounds like cucumber skin filled with mayo instead of the actual vegetabley bit Confused

RedToothBrush · 25/04/2018 15:10

F) Not eat it at all as it is food of the devil. Like mushrooms and bananas. Cucumbers are EVIL.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 25/04/2018 15:15

I’m a B but DD is very much an A.

I do also put chopped cucumber in my water infuser bottle thingy.....

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2018 15:16

sliced for sandwiches chunky rectangles for dc - I hate cucumber but occasionally eat a big chunk like an apple when I am trying to eat more veg.

Cindie943811A · 25/04/2018 15:17

I couldn’t bite into a whole cucumber skin and all. I find the skin very bitter. However, I can eat it’s of peeled cucumber. Used to make a lovely “bread and butter pickle” that consisted of cucumber, onion and mustard seeds in white wine vinegar. Sweet and tasty

m0therofdragons · 25/04/2018 15:18

Dd2 does A 😳

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/04/2018 15:19

doing A has never even crossed my mind and i am a glutton...

nikkylou · 25/04/2018 15:21

Batons or slices.

Apparently eating cherry tomatoes raw like grapes is weird though. Its only the nice ones like sugardrops and picallio ones :)

SlothMama · 25/04/2018 15:23

I just don't eat it, I think it tastes weird

PringlesPirate · 25/04/2018 15:26

I, now, want to eat a cucumber like a banana.

soupforbrains · 25/04/2018 15:33

I am a B.

But DS used to do A all the time. He's a real cucumber fiend and whenever I went to the fridge I used to discover bites taken out of the cucumbers all over the shop. little beast Grin

Have also done C, which is to use a peeler to 'peel' thin strips off the full length of the cucumber to add to salads in a more delicate way than just sliced chucks o cucumber. But I've only done this once or twice ever.

@BrashCandicoot I don't think she mean ALL of the flesh, just the especially watery seedy bit in the very middle.

Merryoldgoat · 25/04/2018 16:41

Bloody hell. I really want a cucumber now.

Dahlietta · 25/04/2018 17:46

Do it, PringlesPirate. You won't regret it.

RoseWhiteTips · 25/04/2018 17:51

B.
Eating it like a banana!? Whaaat??

Takfujuimoto · 25/04/2018 17:51

I've seen people eat peppers like an apple but never a cucumber like a banana.

I skin mine with a peeler then chop in half and use a teaspoon to flesh out the seeds and then chop into semi circles, so I doubt I have a valid reason to judge how others eat vegetables.

But if you cut your carrots into rounds then there is something very wrong with you.

LemonysSnicket · 25/04/2018 18:19

B

bananafish81 · 25/04/2018 20:01

I wouldn't eat an entire cucumber like a banana but I do often chop off a chunk (say 5-6") and eat that banana style. I love cucumber as a snack - really crisp and fresh

bananafish81 · 25/04/2018 20:02

I'm a weirdo who also eats whole tomatoes like apples for snacks

Idontdowindows · 25/04/2018 20:35

A very thick slice covered in peanut butter.

redexpat · 25/04/2018 20:39

Is your name Sophie and is your friend the BFG? Are you sure you mean cucumbers and not snozcumbers?

MrsKoala · 25/04/2018 21:29

The thought of even biting into a cherry tomato makes me gag. I have to cut the in half - I can’t bear the thought of it bursting in my mouth. I like chopping all my food first, even apples. If I eat a banana (rare) I break chunks off and put them in my mouth. No biting.

Biting into crunchy watery cold things is just too disgusting.

GoldenBuns · 25/04/2018 21:49

Cucumber is the work of the devil. The best way to eat it is not at all. HTH

magicalmimi · 25/04/2018 21:53

B is normal I think but I LOVED cucumber when I was pregnant so would munch through a few a day in the style of A..... too desperate to wait to slice or dice it!

Storm4star · 25/04/2018 21:57

I always said I didn’t like cucumber until one day I ate it without the skin, or whatever you want to call it and realised I loved it! So for me it’s without that, always.

Mewithane · 25/04/2018 21:58

Oooo when I was pregnant with DD this was my craving. I’d eat 4-5 sticks per day, obviously whole as I had no time for chopping Grin
