To think please not Arthur

It's tipped to be the new prince's name. I know we're all supposed to love old men's names but Arthur is just too awful.

Come on Kate & Will - you know you want to call him Milo or Ryan. Just do it!

I LOVE Albert and I love Arthur Grin

DaveswifeDawn · 24/04/2018 16:52

Those of you with boys named Artie must live somewhere posh. Round here he'd get called Fartie and his life made a misery.

My son had his heart set on Shaggy for his new brother, in tribute to Scooby Doo. Maybe they should let George decide.

Jackyjill6 · 24/04/2018 16:53

James Arthur?

TERFousBreakdown · 24/04/2018 16:53

I like Arthur, but I'm a staunch republican and dislike the royal (not on a personal level, of course, but as an institution).

So, personally, I really need them to call him Kevin.

TERFousBreakdown · 24/04/2018 16:54

*royals

VeryFoolishFay · 24/04/2018 16:55

I think it will be Arthur - it's my DF's name.

My younger DS has the middle names 'Alexander Louis' after my grandfather's - I am obviously something of a trendsetter!

DaveswifeDawn · 24/04/2018 17:01

Mohammed - to celebrate our diverse culture.

Or something gender-neutral, like Lesley, in case it wants to transgender. Then they won't have to change all the monogrammed stuff.

I am very worried about them going for Frederick as DS is due soon and we have chosen that name for him (it's already painted on his furniture), and I am worried that 1) it will look like we are saddos who copied them and 2) the name will increase in popularity and therefore negate one of the reasons we chose it! sweats

ElfAndSafetyBored · 24/04/2018 17:04

My son is called Arthur, he’s adorable and it suits him. Bounty have it as number 23 in the most popular boys names for 2018 (up 8) so hurrah for the Campaign for lovely Arthurs!

I know of at least 5 more Arthur’s all under 10 so eventually there'll be more young Arthurs than old ones, it stands to sense, so eventually you’ll definitely be wrong and I’ll be right 😀x

3stonedown · 24/04/2018 17:07

I don't mind Arthur but there are loads in my area and called "Arrffaa" so I'm having problems imagining a royal baby with the name.

My bet is on Alexander for no reason other than I think it works well with George and Charlotte

ManicUnicorn · 24/04/2018 17:08

I can't believe people are suggesting Richard! The last King Richard was a child murderer (allegedly, of course..)

MargotLovedTom1 · 24/04/2018 17:09

Apologies to relevant parents but Arthur is a dreadful name IMO. Arfur Daley, Arfur Fowler. Arfur Lager & Lime.

Why is Alfred a no-no with 'all the media at the moment' Bored of this? What have I missed? It's another stodgy, awful name, I know that much.

trueblueari · 24/04/2018 17:12

I'm not keen on Arthur either. I keep pretending not to care but I really want him to be called Philip.
Philip Leroy Balonz Peorge Cambridge.
(No but seriously Philip after Prince Philip and Pippa would be lovely)

Mousefunky · 24/04/2018 17:14

I like Arthur. Prince Albert is pretty tragic Grin.

ajandjjmum · 24/04/2018 17:18

I've been thinking Freddie - but as a PP reminded me, Charles and Camilla referred to each other as Gladys and Fred during their affair, so maybe it's not likely.

DialMforMordor · 24/04/2018 17:19

I like Arthur too - the ruler of Camelot!

I reckon Arthur Philip then maybe something Welsh, as he was a prince of Wales before, so David or even Llewellyn?

PrinceGeorgeTheCutest · 24/04/2018 17:20

I have suggested Bob, like the builder or Sam, like the fireman. Charlotte wants Peppa

Chinesecrested · 24/04/2018 17:21

Albert is worse! Prince Albert - all sorts of unsavoury connotations!

theliverpoolone · 24/04/2018 17:21

I vote Billy, after his dad! Grin

SossidgeRoll · 24/04/2018 17:23

Arthur is a great name! I think it's fab.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 24/04/2018 17:24

After his df with a modern twist:.

Will I Am!!

ObiJuanKenobi · 24/04/2018 17:26

When are we likely to know anyway? I can't remember how long they took to announce the last 2

SofieMonde · 24/04/2018 17:27

Prince Spencer?

Andrewofgg · 24/04/2018 17:28

Definitely not Oliver Grin
