It sounds like the sort of people use to say (and often still do), if a younger mother dared complain if she was drained - All because 'she knew what she was getting into' when she decided to have a baby, and that 'she knew the dad probably wouldn't stick around, she knew babies aren't dolls'

^The above is no reflection of all or even most young mums! I am one.

Anyway, moving on... Isn't it quite tactless and a bit lacking in compassion to say "She knew what she was getting into!"

I don't know her personally, but Will, and her three children, are just that to her. Not Royal figures for show.

I understand she may be feeling a million dollars, though. I suffered with HG and felt like going to the Ritz after my DC's birth. Sadly, I neglected to pack a dress and was quite disappointed I was going home in leggings and a top Grin

I'd be bloody delighted if I was her. Purely for the fact that she never had to worry about her kids future, never mind the other stuff. We don't even chop people's heads off come the revolution Grin

Riversleep · 26/04/2018 10:25

I know someone who set up a not for profit to help homeless people and lost a lucrative contract because of James Middletons crappy picture marshmallows so I don't like him either 😁

FranticallyPeaceful · 26/04/2018 10:26

I thoroughly dislike the idea of a royal family. Anyway I disagree with how people think she felt comfortable on the stairs. I think she looked fake-comfortable. I don’t blame her, she has just given birth, but it looked like she really did not want to be there under that smile. It made me feel uncomfortable. I really hope she got to go home, take her makeup off and nest with her child

RoseWhiteTips · 26/04/2018 10:38

She has a strong sense of duty and is a perfect partner for PW. She is also very lovely and she seems to be a nice person.
She looked fine on the steps of the hospital - just as she had on the other two occasions. Nothing to talk about really. Job done.

(Doubt if she dosses around much in her “PJs”, though...)

I don't understand this, can you elaborate?

RoadToRivendell · 26/04/2018 10:46

What has she passed into her children? Neither parent seem to have passed on any kind of work ethic, despite having it in abundance themselves.

As a few have already said, this is not unusual West London wealthy-offspring behaviour. Particularly once you've pierced the upper echelons, there is a tendency to take on various 'projects' e.g. party planning or marshmallows rather than working a normal 9-5 job.

Of course I"m generalising here but the smart fellas tend to land in banking, the beautiful women tend to land in fashion and its peripheries, and the lesser ones work in club promotion or publicity and sort of float around.

RoadToRivendell · 26/04/2018 10:47

I'd like more info on the marshmallows as well. Wink

HadronCollider · 26/04/2018 11:29

Yes, its true that the RF are likely supreme actors by now in putting on a jolly smiley happy appearance. Even if they are tired, fed up or dislike some engagement, outsiders would likely never know. Will and Kate both were sent away to school and likely know how to fake jolly when necessary.

Does anyone remember the embarrassing photoshoot with Prince Charles and the princes where he had a rictus like grin plastered on his face, but didnt realise the journos microphone was capable of picking him up and he was caught out effectively calling the papps vermin between gritted teeth?Grin

^^ James Middleton's marshmallows

JustaLittlePrick · 26/04/2018 13:19

In what sort of scenario is a homeless charity edged out by a marshmallow business?

I once bought a box of his marshmallows with photos of the DC on. It was a gift for DH and we all thought they were funny - and tasty. The pictures are really good quality. I know he gets slated but it's a cute idea for a business and he's not harming anyone.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 26/04/2018 13:21

I feel a bit for James Middleton. He can't just marry a rich husband like his sisters but his businesses aren't the most successful.

RoadToRivendell · 26/04/2018 14:48

I think he's in a tough spot too.

Battleax · 26/04/2018 14:49

He can't just marry a rich husband like his sisters

Why not?

Riversleep · 26/04/2018 14:56

I don't want to out myself and I'm probably being unfair to JM as it had nothing to do with him but basically they were just about to sign a contract to hire a spot in a large dept store when they suddenly pulled out for no reason. Very soon afterwards Jm's marshmallow business opened in the same spot, so they clearly felt his name was more prestigious.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 26/04/2018 15:02

Well he could if he's that was that way inclined but it's a lot less socially acceptable for a man to marry a rich partner and become a gentleman of leisure (I don't think that's even a phrase!)

biscuitraider · 26/04/2018 15:20

and he was caught out effectively calling the papps vermin between gritted teeth?
I remember thinking at the time, it's all right for you secure in your vast fortune and privilege, how dare he call people trying to make a living, vermin. Perhaps Charles thinks he should just keep raking in taxpayers cash and not give them any return for their money at all.

Battleax · 26/04/2018 15:23

I think it was Nicholas Witchell being denigrated by Prince Charles, wasn’t it? I’m not sure he actually said “vermin”. More os a “I can’t stand that man” rant.

JustaLittlePrick · 26/04/2018 20:25

The funniest thing about the Nick Witchall thing is that he has continued to report on the royals for 13 years since Charles muttered "awful man...can't beat him".

😂

JustaLittlePrick · 26/04/2018 20:26

I mean, can't bear him.

RoseWhiteTips · 26/04/2018 20:36

Come on. Paps are vermin.

JustaLittlePrick · 26/04/2018 20:38

The press pack accompanying the Royal when they travel are not paps.

RoseWhiteTips · 26/04/2018 20:41

Whatever.

Rachel0Greep · 26/04/2018 23:04

I thought she looked great.
I doubt that anyone pressurised her to leave hospital that day, to wear heels or anything else. I presume she decided how she would dress. Granted I don't know much about royalty.
She gave the press and the public their moment and now she can stay away from publicity for a while.

biscuitraider · 27/04/2018 11:13

Well she's certainly well rewarded for giving the press and public "their moment". I'm sure some people think they should be left alone completely. When you think of the daily slog for most women, and yet this woman stood on steps for a few minutes and people think she's some how badly done to. Very far from it.

Rachel0Greep · 27/04/2018 13:01

Completely agree ^^.
