People walking their dogs early in the morning

All winter in the dark and cold I've been walking my dogs in the woods close by. All winter I met ONE person (plus some creepy, silent, hooded figure - I didn't go down that path again)

Now it's light in the mornings I meet so many people. I feel they didn't put the hard slog in over the winter so they shouldn't be allowed to spoil my solitude and enjoyment of these beautiful mornings...

Of course I know it is unreasonable to feel this way really Blush

I work from home so our walk times vary depending on a lot of things. In winter, we tend to go out later, around lunchtimeish, as I don't like going out when it's dark in the mornings, but in summer we go out earlier because we have the freedom to go out at any time we like and it's light much earlier. It's a bit judgmental to assume these people never walk their dogs. They might be like me and just walk them at different times depending on season and what other stuff they have going on.

Sticks head above parapet....my dog refuses to go out of its wet/very cold though... he will literally just lie down and refuse to get up-so less a fair weather Dog walker more a fair weather Dog here!

PositivelyPERF · 23/04/2018 19:23

Having a quiet sob, as I just found out that one of my wee guest dogs (dog daycare/holidays business) passed away this evening. Bugger it! Times like this I wish I worked in an office, shop, etc. Enjoy your lovely wee dogs.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 23/04/2018 19:29

Also people who only go to the beach when it's sunny! I live a 5 minute walk from the beach and we go to the beach regularly to walk, play cricket/football, go rock pooling etc. Even when it's cold.we are down there is our wellies and big coats. Now it's full of people on shorts enjoying the sand as if they can just come and go as they please. How rude!

DontMakeMeShushYou · 23/04/2018 20:22

Early morning walks in the woods/fields only happen on Sundays in our family. On the other 6 days, the dog 'helps' with the paper round. She goes to the fields/woods almost every day but not always at the same time of day.

I’ve heard everything now. I seriously hope this is a joke. How old are you? 4! Seriously I e only signed on here recently and am finding , snobs galore, ignorance regarding sunscreen unbelievable and such a sad judgemental atmosphere, which I am doing right now. I’m old enough to be on Gransnet. Only joined for diy info. Fucking unbelievable. Yes you are being loony tunes unreasonable!!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 24/04/2018 17:38

I can’t stop laughing at 123coco’s post :D

PerfectlyDone · 24/04/2018 17:43

I really don't think that you've 'got' MN just yet.

You lot are sad and slightly deranged and give normal people who walk dogs a bad name. GET A GRIP of course YRBU

SherbrookeFosterer · 24/04/2018 17:48

I know how you feel. I got annoyed on Sunday when I was in the Kyoto Garden, Holland Park.

It was like walking through a train station during rush hour, there were so many people.

I normally go weekday mornings, whenever I can, so I can have the whole garden to myself and talk to the carp without being stared at.

happypoobum · 24/04/2018 17:51

Haven't RTFT but where I live I am able to take happydog to the beach during the winter, but not in the summer. He prefers the beach (labrador) so that's where I go, but in the summer, when he is banned, we go walking in the National Park.

I promise it's just as rainy, cold and windy on the beach, but maybe fewer hooded and cloaked nasties Grin

viques · 24/04/2018 17:56

Ah yes, and add to the list the fair weather "me and my personal trainer" people who have sprung up like a rash when the sun comes out, eny fule knoes exercising in the cold and rain is character building and burns off more calories than waffling about in the sunshine, but try saying that to the still got the label on Lycra queens in the park!

crazymumofthree · 24/04/2018 17:58

Please don't judge us who only walk in the woods when it's light! I am a real scaredy cat with a dog that would welcome a serial killer, the one time I did walk across our local common (with a friend too) I had to come back sooner than normal as it was so creepy and my dog wasn't best pleased! 😂🙈

Elphame · 24/04/2018 17:59

The hooded and cloaked guy interests me! I wonder if you interrupted him more than he interrupted you!

I have been known to go out in the dark hooded and cloaked on the new moon.....

123coco · 24/04/2018 18:03

Thanks for the matronising remark ! but after reading AIBU for over a week now I think I’ve got the measure of it and don’t even get me started on Farrow and Bloody Ball. I only came in for PigletJohn’s diy advice. Gransnet just as bad. Where are all you empowered women It’s like you can’t make up your own minds any more. And if it was supposed to be a joke why were there so many serious ( similarly barmy ) replies agreeing . I don’t like sharing public swimming pools but I have to suck it up!

123coco · 24/04/2018 18:04

Yawn. First world problems!!

hdh747 · 24/04/2018 18:04

We don't have a dog but this is so me when I'm out with my camera. I have MY waterfall, view, bird-hide, favourite spot for sunrise/sunset etc - and of course the best time to get a pic is when the weather is lovely and all those extra people appear from nowhere, hogging my spot.

WhatwouldJoydo · 24/04/2018 18:10

I’m the same cycling. I cycling with kids in all weathers and then Sun comes out and they are everywhere.
I delegate early morning dog walks to Mr whatwouldjoydo over winter. I’m trying to reclaim then, but he won’t let me!! Now I know!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 24/04/2018 18:13

Keep going 123coco, it’s brilliant :D

Wisdens · 24/04/2018 18:15

I don’t like sharing public swimming pools but I have to suck it up!

I’m with you there coco. I find when there are other dog walkers in the pool our leads get tangled as the dogs paddle round sniffing each other’s bums.

Bahhhhhumbug · 24/04/2018 18:20

Haha lm with you. They're probably the same entitled. bastards who crowd our local pub every BH weekend. Don't see them any other time and we keep the pub going all year, hell they even sit in our seats and we the regulars have to stand up at the bar

manicmij · 24/04/2018 18:46

Totally agree they should not be spoiling your quiet environment. Why don't you go out at night now that they are coming out in daylight.

RLOU88 · 24/04/2018 18:50

@123coco - agreeing with you all the way!

123coco · 24/04/2018 19:02

Ta. Nice to meet someone sane Grin

Sequencedress · 24/04/2018 19:06

People. What a bunch of bastards! ~ Roy Trenneman

I was the same in January when all the resolution makers were hogging the treadmills (and walking on them!!) don’t they know I have a very important marathon to train for, and needed to run inside because it was so icy? How dare they inconvenience me slightly?! Grin
