If you could go on holiday anywhere in the world where would it be?
For me i’d fly business class to Australia and New Zealand.
My OH said his would be The Maldives. My mum’s would be a spa break in Dorset as she doesn’t like going abroad

onemorecakeplease · 22/04/2018 21:40

Ooh a lovely gite in France with a pool and hot tub and a chef to make us lovely meals!

I may have been watching a ‘new life in the sun’ a lot this week...

TalkinPeece · 22/04/2018 21:43

Costa Rica

Xmasbaby11 · 22/04/2018 21:44

Japan. I lived there in my twenties and would love to take my dh and dc.

In reality though, my dd are 4 and 6 and the eldest has asd. Travelling is not easy and a long haul flight would be risky.

Cuba

SecretIsland · 22/04/2018 21:54

Rio (me) or Canada (dh)

RedDwarves · 22/04/2018 21:57

Road trip across Canada and the US.

I've done it before, and intend to do it again. Best experience of my life.

AngeloMysterioso · 23/04/2018 04:23

@user1492877024 - it really is. I’ll DM you Grin

Alpineflowers · 23/04/2018 04:34

World cruise, yes they do exist, first class. Three months or maybe even longer !

Tutuye · 23/04/2018 05:28

Scotland and Ireland are my old faves but money no object would see me road trip across america (must make time to visit new york) and take in iceland, mongolia/kazakhstan, japan and patagonia and a lot of places in europe too....

Argeles · 23/04/2018 05:28

Japan. I’d do a tour of it by bullet train, but would spend the majority of my time in Kyoto.

I’d spend the whole of my trip staying in ryokans (tradition Japanese hotels).

Minniemountain · 23/04/2018 06:11

Japan.
Rajasthan if it's not too hot at this time of year, followed by a hill station. Both by train.

Minniemountain · 23/04/2018 06:13

Also the trans-Siberian Express and anywhere Paul Theroux has written about.

BitchQueen90 · 23/04/2018 06:44

Australia and spend a couple of months going around the whole country.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 23/04/2018 06:45

Just spent 5 months doing just this ( money was saved for this and spent wisely) we flew to Sydney spent 9 days then went on a cruise to and round New Zealand for 2 weeks then back to Australia spending time in Sydney Melbourne with family and then camping at and around Uluru and Kings Canyon then back to spend time with family who live in rural NSW and Victoria back to Sydney ( 2 months in total) then on to Hawaii ( Oahu and Big Island) the on to Seattle for a week with friends who live there then fly to Orlando for 16 Days in a Villa visiting Disney etc and Kennedy also see a SpaceX launch. The Hire car we had got a pounding as we headed North up the East Coast spending time over the next 10 weeks in cities in 20 states visiting cities including Savannah, Charlotte, Richmond, Washington DC, Gettysburg, then we headed west on I70 taking in St Louis, Kansas City, Boulder, Monument Valley, Winslow Arizona, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Monterey, Santa Barbara....currently in LA tomorrow we hand back the hire care with 7,800 miles added to it having driven over 200 hours and fly to New York before flying home on Friday. It's been a dream holiday that's been a long time in the planning and involved saving money and spending money carefully for the 5+ months we have been away.

There have been some tough times and tears Christmas away from our daughters was tough but they are 26/25/22 and all live away from home with partners etc and we have kept in touch via WhatsApp etc.

It's doable and most late teens/twenties take gap years but at 16 DH was in the Army and I had left home and was working and paying rent so Gap years weren't an option.
Take the risk and jump travel is fabulous and I can honestly say it's changed my view on life

Oh and where do I want to go back to? NewZealand without a doubt is an absolutely fabulous country the people are so welcoming and it's begging to be explored
What's the absolute highlight? Swimming at night in the sea to watch Manta Rays feed so close they brushed our legs. It was both the scariest and most awe filled thing I've done in my life

Hawaii flying 1st class

Idontdowindows · 23/04/2018 08:29

Malta. Absolutely love the place. Himself can't stand the heat, otherwise I'd be living there.

MumW · 23/04/2018 08:36

At this point in my life, the destination isn't so important but the following criteria is...

Quiet
Bit of sun
Good view - few mountains, maybe
Totally looked after - no cooking, washing, bed making or teenagers
Basically, total relaxation and escape

Longer term, I'd like to travel around but it would have to include The Northern Lights

Funnyface1 · 23/04/2018 09:21

I also have a few:

Florida
Last Vegas
Bora Bora

SadTears · 23/04/2018 09:53

@greygardens have you looked at overlanding safaris? Super cheap! I did 3.5 weeks for under 2k including loads of flights (but am very good at sourcing cheap flights and trips)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 23/04/2018 10:12

Bora Bora could be a bit crowded what with all us excited MNers descending on it. Grin
