To hate photos of sleeping children on Facebook?

Seriously getting sick of these. Give your poor kids a break and let them sleep in peace without their parent exploiting them for likes. Find it horribly violating - the child is dreaming and you're snapping away at them then publicising it!

I'd far rather see a picture of a child sleeping than a stupid selfie with a snapchat filter or picture of somebody's food

I love pictures of food once it's not just a Tuesday night spag bol kind of pic. Never thought about it that way OP but you have a point. (Disclaimer: I don't put sleeping pictures of my children on Facebook)

Why do you care?! This utterly baffles me. Just scroll on.

Just thing it's not right. People seem to have lower standards of privacy for their children than themselves.

Not as bad as when they put pictures up with their child in the bath

I don't see anything wrong with it. Sleeping children are cute. If you don't like it just keep scrolling.

The one that annoys me is the photo of the poorly child . "My poorly baba 🙁 " etc

Just scroll past, that's what I do when I see something I don't like. Dead easy,really.
For me, it's the inane and incessant duck pout selfies that have me rolling my eyes and scrolling on.
Sleeping small children, not so much. They'r cute.

I dont just scroll past, I hide the posts. Or unfollow.

I get it OP. There's something intrusive about it. The child is a person in it's own right but has NO say in the photo or knowledge of it being taken.

It would be weird if you did it to an adult...but for some reason, people assume kids have no rights!

I've seen lots of posts of people posting pictures of their sleeping partners before, so it's not just a kid thing.

I hate Facebook full stop I've deleted my account. It does a lot of good, reuniting missing people and pets etc or keeping in touch with long distance loved ones. But a lot of adults act like teenagers on there it's cringeworthy. Especially those pathetic dog filter apps or "like and share if you love your sister" oh fuck off will you!

Controversial but I don't think anyone should post any identifiable pictures of minors online, including minors themselves.

Yanbu. Total invasion of privacy. I deleted my FB account a few months ago and have never regretted it.

It's nothing to do with children having no rights, simply that parents make decisions for them.

I assume you gave (or not) permission for your child's school to photograph them. Why do you think it was you who signed the form and not the children?

I don’t have Facebook because there’s far too much stupid shite on it and I don’t feel the need to tell my 4000 closest friends everytime I pee.

I wish people would stop whinging about Facebook on here, it’s tedious & pointless.

@sentMai there is a limit to the decisions parents are allowed to make on behalf of their children. For a reason.

And none of those limits apply to taking photos and putting them on social media if they're your own sleeping children. For a reason.

I post 3-4 a week but am Facebook friends with actual friends (and family).

I work in IT so do understand the implications, have tight security settings and think the upside of sharing our ex-pat life with those we don't see as often as we'd like is worth any minute risk.

For what it's worth, photos of them sleeping are very rare.

I'm also an expat...my DD1 is 13 and while I posted a few of her when she was smaller, she voiced her opinion when she was about 9. She said she did not want any pictures of her on FB.

I now have to print some off about every month and post the buggers! Still....my older relatives love getting actual photographs!

A lot's changed in a decade (when she was smaller).

I post pictures of my almost 4yr old and 3months old on FB reasonably frequently for my friends and family who I don’t see very often. Both mine and OH’s family lives 300miles away in opposite directions and we don’t see them often, they love seeing pictures and videos on FB however. If you don’t like it, delete the culprits. Like already said I would rather see children than stupid pouting selfies etc
