To hate photos of sleeping children on Facebook?

Seriously getting sick of these. Give your poor kids a break and let them sleep in peace without their parent exploiting them for likes. Find it horribly violating - the child is dreaming and you're snapping away at them then publicising it!

Really?

Some people find some odd things to assign their hatred to.

Minesril · 22/04/2018 07:36

I hate seeing any pics of children on FB. Have some respect for your child fgs.

Muse84 · 22/04/2018 07:44

I've often thought this before. It's just weird.....

Differentcorner · 22/04/2018 07:51

I agree it's awful. Also all the sickness bug etc posts and photos of child laying on sofa with bucket etc... what is the world coming to? Do children have no right to privacy anymore?

sentMai · 22/04/2018 08:13

" photos of child laying on sofa with bucket etc... what is the world coming to? "

Really?

We live in very different worlds!

Differentcorner · 22/04/2018 08:42

Thanks for the the backhanded snobbish insult there sentmai, not me or my friends

sentMai · 22/04/2018 08:44

Not backhanded or snobbish. You mentioned it so I assume you'd seen it from your friends.

Differentcorner · 22/04/2018 10:38

Hmm... well clearly our 'different worlds' also extend to what is polite and rude also!!

HappyLollipop · 22/04/2018 10:41

I don't mind those pictures it's the naked ones with a emoji over their bits I don't like, if you've got to edit a picture to cover their privates maybe just not put it up on social media!

FrancisUnderwood · 22/04/2018 10:43

Not a moral arguement persè, but I find the stream of kids photos with food smeared around their mouths much much worse.

Woshambo · 22/04/2018 11:04

@MrsTerryPratchett I don't really want photos of my child (when he/she comes) put on FB at all. This might b because the only photos of me are when I've had alcohol (had none for 7 years) and am not comfortable with cameras or posting myself.

However I know my family and OH are going to do it so it's a losing battle. Some ppl understand it and some ppl don't. Just a personal preference.

ScattyCharly · 22/04/2018 11:04

Delete Facebook.

drinkingwinefeelingfine · 22/04/2018 13:10

@FrancisUnderwood god there's nothing more gross. I hate those pictures. Newsflash, your kid covered in food is not cute!

I always report any photos of kids naked or not covered enough. Don't care who has posted them. Kids should be protected.

fairiedemon · 22/04/2018 13:15

@MrsTerryPratchett couldn’t agree more and I am so glad I am not the only one who believes this.

PercyPigAddict · 22/04/2018 14:30

I agree OP. Why do so many people think their children have no right to privacy? It's like they can't see that their child is an individual rather than an extension of their own ego / instagram prop.

teachergirl2011 · 22/04/2018 14:32

Arghhhh the breastfeeding pics on socila media drive me mad!!! Why???? Also parents who put up "outfit of the day"

MessyBun247 · 22/04/2018 14:35

Sleeping children, poorly children, hospitalised children, children in bath, children sitting on potty....all drives me mad. Leave them alone and protect their privacy! And dignity! I’m sure those parents wouldn’t want those type of photos of themselves on the internet, so why do it to your child?

Midge1978 · 22/04/2018 16:33

Sentmai - a child knows he/she is being photographed in a school photo. When they are unconscious, they are completely unaware. The two are not comparable.

Midge1978 · 22/04/2018 16:35

Lexilulu yes it does bother me because I think children should have a right to privacy and I feel things like this violate that right and are worth discussing.

rach01pink · 22/04/2018 16:56

Totally agree. I have no social media except mumsnet:) mainly for the reason I can't stand people exposing their poor kids... These people don't seem to genuinely get pleasure from their kids they just think about posting it online.... Let the kids live without being snapped every 5 mins!!!

Ohdearyme2018 · 22/04/2018 17:21

Unfortunatly lots of idiots publish pictures of their children in the internet. It’s bonkers

PiggeryPorcombe · 22/04/2018 17:44

I agree with you op. It’s a total violation of their privacy imo.

I’ve seen a pic from one fb friend of their toddler asleep and in the background was her 10yr old also asleep - wearing a pull up Shock I’m quite sure he wouldn’t be thanking her for that if his mates saw. Or anyone. Also another friend frequently posts “poonami” photos of her baby Hmm

Both my dc became uncomfortable with me posting (very infrequent) pics of them on fb when they were 8/9, so I removed them all.

You can’t teach them about internet safety/not sharing inappropriate photos one minute and then post pics of them asleep the next.
