To think NDN should tell their kids to shut up?

It's 7.53pm and I'm trying to snooze because I'm poorly and all I can hear are next doors kids and a few of their friends from the neighbourhood screaming at the top of their voices. The kids are between 8 - 10. I posted a week or so ago about them too. They're noisy and I wish they'd go inside or play quietly!

Have you asked nicely if they could make less noise?

I sympathise actually but it’s one of the many summertime problems.

ShawshanksRedemption · 21/04/2018 19:57

Sorry you're poorly but YABU. If it was 10pm I'd be more understanding, but not at 8pm with kids aged 8-10yrs.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 21/04/2018 19:58

I think YABU.

Rachie1973 · 21/04/2018 19:58

Its not even 8pm on a warm sunny evening.

YABU!

Squeegle · 21/04/2018 19:59

Not the end of the world. YABU.

kyrenialady · 21/04/2018 19:59

I know it's annoying but it's still early. My dd is just heading out in the garden now.

spanky2 · 21/04/2018 20:00

Get some ear plugs, shut your windows maybe some sound of nature like rain to take the edge off. I hope you feel better soon.

Starlight2345 · 21/04/2018 20:00

At 7.53 yes yabu however I do have sympathies you are poorly . Do you talk to neighbors . Could you explain you are poorly and could they quite down this once . Are you windows shut ? It’s raining here now it might get to you soon

BillywilliamV · 21/04/2018 20:00

No, far better for them to be inside on their phones, in the dark, with the windows closed..like proper modern children.

dangermouseisace · 21/04/2018 20:02

YABU.

Hope you get better soon Flowers

iamyourequal · 21/04/2018 20:03

Sorry YABU. It’s saturday evening! I suggest you close your window. If you are tired enough sleep will come. Hope you feel better soon.

expatinscotland · 21/04/2018 20:03

YABU. Get a fan, some earplugs and close the windows. Can't expect quiet at 8pm on a sunny Saturday evening.

SweetMoon · 21/04/2018 20:07

Do you live near me!! A few doors down and there were 3 girls about 8-10 just literally shouting and screaming at the tops of their voices! Either the parents were not in or are deaf but there seemed no attempt to tell them to try and lower the volume a bit.

Thing is, kids playing and noise doesn't ever bother me, but 2 hours of those girls with not even an attempt to keep it at an appropriate volume really bloody annoyed me. Trying to eat dinner in the garden and it was insane. I think at one point they were actually having a contest of who can scream the loudest!

Bixx · 21/04/2018 20:14

I’m sorry you feel unwell but children playing in their garden on a sunny evening is prefectly normal. YABU.

feelinggoodinspring · 21/04/2018 20:15

If it was a group of adults being noisy playing music/drinking/talking/laughing would you be tempted to tell them to shut up too? Or would you not dare because you can't tell people what to do in their own homes/gardens?

It should be no different for kids playing in their garden.

Heismyopendoor · 21/04/2018 20:16

YABU

SweetMoon · 21/04/2018 20:17

Just wanted to add that you'll prob get a lot of YABU. But honestly, if it's the same girls near me YANBU as this is NOT normal kids playing in the garden noise. It's completely off the scale.

Battleax · 21/04/2018 20:18

Nobody should be screaming at any time, TBH.

upsideup · 21/04/2018 20:27

YABU, 8 oclock is fine.
If its still going on past 10 then YANBU.

stubbornstains · 21/04/2018 20:27

YANBU. There's no need for kids to scream at the top of their voices all the time. The occasional yell, sure, but we have one set of neighbours whose kids are like this, and I'm just like "Why? Why the need to scream like that? " Mine know that it's not acceptable.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/04/2018 20:31

I don’t agree sleep will come. It doesn’t with me. Ear plugs, white noise on the radio, guided sleep on YouTube.

Put a fan on and the tv or radio on low to drown it out.. it's a warm sunny evening so it seems a bit mean. We don't get many in April to be fair.

Our NDN's have just lit a bonfire so I'm feeling pretty murderous. Choking white smoke has really pissed me off. I had 3 loads of washing shoe horned on the line and we were sat out eating our tea on the patio Angry

GorgonLondon · 21/04/2018 20:38

I'm also poorly and not able to enjoy the weather but we get so few sunny days in this country. Let them enjoy one of the occasional evenings of their childhood when it's nice enough to be outside.

LiteraryDevil · 21/04/2018 20:45

Kids playing is one thing but screaming is another. It really pisses me off too. We have a council estate at the back of us and the kids there tend to run wild in the summer. One house is particularly problematic. They are up screaming until gone 10pm. My kids are 9 and 11 and in bed at 7.30pm lights out at 8. The eldest yells out of her window for them to shut up Grin one night they had a party and they were still up at 3am screaming and yelling Angry
Other neighbours tend to invite all and sundry into their garden, are VERY loud, have bbqs which they light with newspapers so lots of smoke and they can clearly see our windows are open or the washing is out. Neighbours and wasps and flies can ruin summer!
