"Please remember to take some piriton before arriving. The pollen count will be high and the last thing I want is sneezing during the ceremony."

Paraphrased but similar tone.

I can't work out if it's unreasonable to ask your guests to medicate themselves so they don't sniffle Grin

Are you really not supposed to drink with antihistamines? I've been taking them years and did not know this Shock

I wonder if she's realised that. I'm going to tell her!

The wording was slightly different, but did include the 'the last thing I want is sneezing during the ceremony' bit!

I don't think she even hears herself at this point! She's a teacher so is used to bossing 30 kids around every day. I think it's a reflex.

One of the waiters at my wedding dropped the cake. I thought it was hilarious. Why yes, I was a touch squiffy! I always wonder how these mad brides (and grooms!) would cope with that. I’d quite like to see it to be honest. People know I’m fairly laid back but all eyes were on me to see how I’d react when the cake was dropped!
(Poor lad was mortified, once I stopped laughing, I gave him a massive hug and offered to buy him a drink - it was my happy day, why would I be grumpy!!) Grin
Another vote for Piriton knocking me out. Loratadine for the win!

SimonBridges · 21/04/2018 20:49

If she had said ‘be aware that we are having lots of flowers/we are getting married in the glass house at Kew Gardens/a cat cafe so you might want to remember antihistamines’ that might have been ok.
However anyone who does suffer with hayfever will know what they prefer to take.

Sending out an A4 list. And a two day event.
Someone needs to take her to one side and tell her that no one else cares about their wedding. No one.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 21/04/2018 20:52

Well it doesn’t stop every symptom, I have to take it often for hay fever but generally I still sneeze just not as much.

PerspicaciaTick · 21/04/2018 20:52

I bet it rains.

BerylStreep · 21/04/2018 20:54

I think some of the things she has highlighted are quite sweet, such as fluffy towels and hairdryers. That's quite thoughtful (although I must admit I'm partial to a rough sandpapery towel).

supercalifragilisticexpiali: children may become excited and the elderly may become very confused. Grin at Piriton listing that as a potential side effect given the demographic they are referring to.

eddielizzard · 21/04/2018 20:57

fucking ridiculous. really i've heard it all now...

AhNowTed · 21/04/2018 21:09

I've heard it all now 🙄

maddiemookins16mum · 21/04/2018 21:10

I do love the start of wedding season on MN.

expatinscotland · 21/04/2018 21:19

WTF is a 2-day wedding? FFS, are people so self-absorbed they honestly believe people want to spend 2 entire days at some wedding?

viques · 21/04/2018 21:23

I hope the bride has made sure that the venue flowers ,button hole flowers and her bouquet are all low pollen species.........

RebootYourEngine · 21/04/2018 21:24

Weddings are a strange thing.

First we had the gift list, then we had the car share list, now we have the instruction list.

CloudPop · 21/04/2018 21:27

Has she reminded everyone to go to the loo in good time beforehand

PerspicaciaTick · 21/04/2018 21:29

"Female guests should consider using Super absorbent pads and tampons - we don't want any leaking on the chair covers".

goyuckfourself · 21/04/2018 21:29

I would have loved for someone to tell me to dose my kids up with Piriton before a wedding.

Because it sends the youngest batshit crazy. Seriously, it's like giving Tigger acid.

Oh and it doesn't work at all on me either. Nothing sold over the counter does unless I take it in 3-4x the recommended dose. Fab for sleeping, less so for actually staying awake. Telfast all the way here.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 21/04/2018 21:31

Is it possible she thinks she's being funny?

Either that, or she has invited my mum, who screams when she sneezes and is a risk to people's hearing.

I'm surprised that tulle-wrapped cough sweets in the wedding colours aren't being given out or sold to prevent rogue coughing.

DobbyLovesSocks · 21/04/2018 21:46

This thread is hilarious. Thank you for brightening my evening you lovely people (the three Bailey's might have helped Grin)

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 21/04/2018 21:50

Lol.bride advising piriton for guests,how v exacting
Maybe she’ll give out Tena lady in case anyone pisses themselves at jokes

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 21/04/2018 21:52

Maddiemookins, yes I love a good wedding thread too
It’s like a prism onto another v bizarre world of tulle and tantrums

ButchyRestingFace · 21/04/2018 21:52

Are you really not supposed to drink with antihistamines? I've been taking them years and did not know this shock

I heard you weren’t supposed to take antihistamines with grapefruit juice... if you have a dicky heart.

Of course, that might be a load of old bollocks but certainly has the potential to enliven the reception. 😈

MsJolly · 21/04/2018 21:53

😂😂😂

TheBigFatMermaid · 21/04/2018 22:04

A whole A4 sheet of helpfulness! You really do have to tell us more!

motorpink · 21/04/2018 22:05

I totally would t go to that. I just couldn't happily facilitate such absolute fuckery.

Tell her to give her head a wobble

motorpink · 21/04/2018 22:05

*wouldnt go

PerspicaciaTick · 21/04/2018 22:23

I'd arrange a chorus of "amusing" coughing for the bit when they say "if anyone knows of any reason why Doormat and Bridezilla may not be legally married..."
