Mumsnet is a force to be reckoned with and I’ve realised after reading a few threads today that I’ve bought a lot of things because of Mumsnet recommendations.

Aldi wine
Aldi pizzas
Matalan rug
Saltwater sandals
School uniform name tape
Essie nail polish
Pixi glow
Astral face cream
L’Oréal shampoo
Aveeno handcream
Aldi nappies
Switched to Coke Zero
3 x holidays for 8 people
2 x pushchairs
2 handbags
A scarf
Dozens of books
Kids coats
Dozens of Christmas gifts
Toys
Merlin pass
National trust pass
Event tickets
A sofa
Floor tiles
Bathroom suite
Dishwasher tablets
A fridge
A hoover
Method cleaning products
Light bulbs
Photo books
Photo calendars
Car insurance
Mortgage broker services
Audible

I’m sure there are loads more

Before most bigger purchases or trying a new brand I search Mumsnet. I start threads about things I want to buy, I read recommendations, I dip in and out of different sub forums.

What have you bought because of Mumsnet?

Also Holiday Pirates.

Bagadverts · 15/04/2018 22:03

Assigned i found it harder to wash off. I wonder it was something to do with the soap I chose?

I also have a disability and my right hand will hold the shower gel bottle easier than a piece of soap and I can't see where it has landed in the shower. we didn't used to have gel when I was growing up so there must be a trick I've forgotten, or it was always just very hard.

bumbleymummy · 15/04/2018 22:10

A steam cleaner. It was shit.

Xmasfairy86 · 15/04/2018 22:11

This probably wasn’t the best of threads to sit down and peruse 🙄🙈

Online baskets/bookmarks all over the place 😂

VetOnCall · 15/04/2018 22:35

Uniqlo Heattech
Too much stuff from Hush, including 'the' ruched skirt
The Ordinary skincare
La Roche Posay Effaclar stuff
Collection Lash Surge mascara
Chanel Vitalumière foundation, which I then replaced with...
Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation
Biore Watery Essence
Supergas
Soap instead of shower gel
Korean exfoliating cloth things
Properly fitting bras thanks to the MN bra intervention

Ugg Abrees
Lots of Christmas ideas - the Woolovers jumpers, wallet ninja, sugru, grid-it organiser
Lots of books, movies, TV shows...

ExploryRory · 15/04/2018 22:37

Epistick. Didn’t work for me.
Lumea. Wish I’d bought one years ago!
Nip and fab. Awesome.
Zofolora - meh.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 15/04/2018 22:38

Ah, God sorry didn't think of that Bagadverts. Flowers

BuntyII · 16/04/2018 00:56

Has anyone mentioned FRERs? I've bought enough of them to keep the company in profit for years Blush

womanhuman · 16/04/2018 01:22

Spring hair removal thingy is literally a small tightly coiled spring that you roll over your facial fuzz, effectively tweezing it all in a few strokes. It’s a great way to wake yourself up in the morning. 😂

And I bought mine because of MN.

(Also instant pot, window vac, steam mop, Miele vac, salt waters, heated airer, most kid stuff, a million books and god only knows what else...)

Birdsgottafly · 16/04/2018 02:13

I forgot about the hair remover springy thing. I couldn't take the pain, especially around my top lip. I got a recommended Epilator instead.

EasterRobin · 16/04/2018 03:38

Oh yeah, a Lumea! I forgot that one.

redfairy · 16/04/2018 03:44

Babyliss Big Hair. Wouldn't be without it. I was let down with my Dyson Animal though. It's crap and the rollers keep jamming with hair.
I also keep an eye out for recommendations of places to go and recently had a decent meal at the Olive Grove in Oundle.

scrivette · 16/04/2018 05:07

Leggings from Sainsbury
Jeggings from Sainsbury
Zoflora
Heated Airer
Cordless Dyson (changed my life, I recommend)

counterpoint · 16/04/2018 06:16

Lots of things which have become family staples now.

My favourite remains a pair of smart UGG boots.

AGreatBigPonk · 16/04/2018 06:52

Dyson cordless vacuum
Silver cross pioneer
Be safe iZi modular car seat
Lots from jojomamanbebe using Mumsnet discount
Pourty potties
Gummi glove
Aldi nappies

These are just some of the things I bought after checking out recommendations on Mumsnet. Pretty much purchase I’ll take a look on Mumsnet for inspiration.

Ekphrasis · 16/04/2018 06:59

OMG sooooo many FRERS!

Annabelle4 · 16/04/2018 12:15

Not only FRERs, but those internet cheapie test strips too, probably hundreds of them Blush

MipMipMip · 16/04/2018 12:19

A fair few things, although I can't remember them all. BBH, books, going to try Aldi shampoo/body stuff.. loads more.

Nothing that makes my brain work though!

ArcheryAnnie · 16/04/2018 12:47

I have bought quite a lot of food (often "treat" food) as a result of MN threads.

Also books, a pair of shoes (in a "what shoes can I stand up all day at work in?" thread), kids' present stuff, god knows what else. I still haven't tried zoflora, though.

I feel proud at all the posters mentioning Method, as I have been faithfully plugging their loo cleaner (it's brilliant) for ages!

ArcheryAnnie · 16/04/2018 12:48

@Bottled you have a Kelly kettle! I love mine, and I don't even go camping any more. It's a kind of comfort blanket for me, sitting in my box cupboard.

WhatComesAfterS · 16/04/2018 12:51

Zoflora
Perfume
Books

Maddiemademe · 16/04/2018 12:54

DeVol Kitchen

IJustLostTheGame · 16/04/2018 12:57

Caroline hirons skincare regime friendly products
Retin a
A Philips lumea
Loads of Korean skincare

And I love all of the above.

StealthNinjaMum · 16/04/2018 13:13

I have bought loads of things because I have seen them on mums net - stuff from Verbaudet, Great Little Trading Company, Baukjen, Boden.

This morning I use zoflora - as recommended on mn.
I also bought a washing machine from an independent shop because I have read a number of threads about how John Lewis' customer service has gone downhill - but I do get my bras fitted from John Lewis because Marks fitters are so useless.
I've also bought a few fit flops online because of a thread in style and beauty last week.

I will not buy from any organisation who stops advertising on mumsnet as a result of pressure from trans activists.

Jozxyqk · 16/04/2018 17:25

In addition to my earlier list, I've just bought some cloth sanitary towels. Recommended on a thread on MN. Thanks lovely vipers! Grin

I would be most interested to know if any advertisers do in fact drop MN as a result of third party pressure.
