Mumsnet is a force to be reckoned with and I’ve realised after reading a few threads today that I’ve bought a lot of things because of Mumsnet recommendations.

Aldi wine
Aldi pizzas
Matalan rug
Saltwater sandals
School uniform name tape
Essie nail polish
Pixi glow
Astral face cream
L’Oréal shampoo
Aveeno handcream
Aldi nappies
Switched to Coke Zero
3 x holidays for 8 people
2 x pushchairs
2 handbags
A scarf
Dozens of books
Kids coats
Dozens of Christmas gifts
Toys
Merlin pass
National trust pass
Event tickets
A sofa
Floor tiles
Bathroom suite
Dishwasher tablets
A fridge
A hoover
Method cleaning products
Light bulbs
Photo books
Photo calendars
Car insurance

Audible

I’m sure there are loads more

Before most bigger purchases or trying a new brand I search Mumsnet. I start threads about things I want to buy, I read recommendations, I dip in and out of different sub forums.

What have you bought because of Mumsnet?

I did a product test via MN for a Ford C Max. After the two week trial was up, I went and bought one! That was my biggest purchase because of MN. There have been many other smaller ones, often after taking part in product tests eg Little Dish meals and Bear cereals- I wouldn’t have looked at them if I didn’t do the product tests.

That must have been an impressive trial cupoftea!

This thread really shows me how powerful Mumsnet is. I’m so grateful for so many of the suggestions (and warnings against products) I’ve had over the years.

Ikea Hovag mattress. It didn't occur to me to even try Ikea for a mattress until several MNetters were raving with joy about this particular one. It's been absolutely amazing and came in at only a quarter of the price I'd expected to have to pay for a decent one.

And The Nitty Gritty Comb for headlice!

Marmablade · 15/04/2018 17:57

Jenijena · 15/04/2018 18:00

I’ve bought various things and lusted after many more.

What I can’t forgive, however, is when I’ve clicked a link on a thread which might typically be titled ‘you’re not going to believe how horrible this dress is’... and then it stalks me all over the internet in ads...

WillowWept · 15/04/2018 18:06

Hush dresses (plural)
Babyliss big hair
Assortment of Lakeland goods

A mountain of books

What's a hush skirt?
What's the deal with babyliss big hair??

Freshprincess · 15/04/2018 18:07

Many things already mentioned. Pretty much everything I'm currently wearing, Levi's Demi Curves, H&M long vest, Uniqlo jumper and a bra in the right size after bra intervention thread.

Not already mentioned epistick, Nip &a Fab stuff, Jo Malone candle, all my stocking fillers were from the Christmas thread, loads of books, watched films I'd never heard of, had an itinerary for weekend in london entirely from suggestions on here, and on and on.

I'm starting to wonder if I could ever make a decision about a purchase on my own anymore!
