Mumsnet is a force to be reckoned with and I’ve realised after reading a few threads today that I’ve bought a lot of things because of Mumsnet recommendations.

Aldi wine
Aldi pizzas
Matalan rug
Saltwater sandals
School uniform name tape
Essie nail polish
Pixi glow
Astral face cream
L’Oréal shampoo
Aveeno handcream
Aldi nappies
Switched to Coke Zero
3 x holidays for 8 people
2 x pushchairs
2 handbags
A scarf
Dozens of books
Kids coats
Dozens of Christmas gifts
Toys
Merlin pass
National trust pass
Event tickets
A sofa
Floor tiles
Bathroom suite
Dishwasher tablets
A fridge
A hoover
Method cleaning products
Light bulbs
Photo books
Photo calendars
Car insurance
Mortgage broker services
Audible

I’m sure there are loads more

Before most bigger purchases or trying a new brand I search Mumsnet. I start threads about things I want to buy, I read recommendations, I dip in and out of different sub forums.

What have you bought because of Mumsnet?

HRT (life changer for my perimenopause symptoms thanks to Polly Perky)

The Ordinary (not that fussed)

Nivea crème (as good as I remember it from years ago)

Zoflora (tried it, smells nice but trying to cut down on antibacterial so won't buy any more)

Mary Greenwell perfume (love it) from The Perfume Shop

Soap instead of shower gel (a revelation! - skin now much less dry)

Stopped buying and having hair dyed and am growing out my grey thanks to a very inspirational thread

FizzyWizzyFlash · 15/04/2018 18:38

Hot cross buns

Now I'm an addict and permanently 3 pounds heavier. Angry

candlefloozy · 15/04/2018 18:38

Even I'm tempted by the babyliss thing now

ColinsVeryJolly · 15/04/2018 18:40

The only thing I can think of is one of those springy hair remover tools from Amazon. It's shit.

lovestea · 15/04/2018 18:45

Teddy bear mattress topper from Dunelm
Aldi wine

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 15/04/2018 18:48

llangennith

I need a new one of those! My last one was certainly not £1.15, I’ll be popping into Wilko soon. Thanks.

The list is too long but from September onwards I join the Christmas bargain threads. I spend a small fortune but save an amazing amount of money on birthday gifts. My best bargain were two Woolover jumpers on offer for £10, I bought three sets of jumpers for various male relatives.

Oh yes! I have a Protected Species parka - recommended from S&B.

Used everyday on dog walks in all weather for 2 years and it still looks brand new.

foxychox · 15/04/2018 19:09

Anyone mentioned the Ugg Wilcox boots yet?! There was a thread where it was mentioned that they were massively reduced and the Ugg website literally crashed soon after!
Another one for zoflora (thought it was for old biddies previously) and babyliss big hair. Currently scouting for a cheap Seasalt Janelle after many recommendations on here.....

BusterGonad · 15/04/2018 19:10

I've just bought the springy hair remover thing, only had it a day. Still trying o master the technique!!! Seems ok so far though!

PinkbicyclesinBerlin · 15/04/2018 19:13

Loads, generally based on in thread advice.

Lakeland airdryer, skincare products, clothes, shoes, reusable nappies back in the day, cleaning products, holidays, scarfs, the list goes on...

RogerAllamsFangirl · 15/04/2018 19:29

It's not a product or service so apologies for the slight derail, but I have brought to my professional and private life, a greater appreciation of how privileged I am and how tough many people have it. This has encouraged me to get more involved in volunteering and charity opportunities and to use my position to encourage others to do so. I think I'm a more valuable member of society because of Mumsnet and all you wonderful, witty, articulate posters.

Jozxyqk · 15/04/2018 19:30

Lakeland heated airer.
Instant Pot.
Meluna menstrual cup.
3-in-1 waffle, toastie & panini maker - loved that long thread!
Biore Japanese SPF 50 - in fact this has been a regular purchase for over a year.
Last Roche Posay - couple of products - love them.
Avene - couple of products - fab.
Paula's Choice BHA.
The Ordinary - couple of products - love them.
Biologique Recherche P50. It's one of my absolute must-have skincare products.
Soap (as opposed to shower gel)
Lancome Teint Idole foundation. It's brilliant (I never found one pale enough before!)
W7 makeup - I'd seen it before & dismissed it - really good for such a low price.
Nyx makeup - as with W7.
Essie nail polish.
Tubing mascara.
Philips Lumea.
A MN scarf!
Joules stuff for me & DD.
Saltwater raincoat. And I'll get another one when it eventually gives up. Fab.
Bravissimo - never go anywhere else for my bras now.
Uniqlo.
Nitty Gritty comb for headlice.
Method cleaning products.
Zoflora.
Cif cream cleaner. I did the product test & now buy it regularly. Fab stuff.
Visqueen bin bags. I did the product test...
Le Creuset - and contemplating buying more.
HG mould spray.
Specific food - only one I can remember right now is Aldi Torchon ham... pretty good.
How could I forget... GIN! So far there's been Brockmans, Sipsmith, Caorunn, an own brand one by M&S. (Don't judge, I've discovered it relatively late in life at nearly 40!)
The M&S food section.
Ever so many things from TK Maxx.

I get all my stocking fillers ideas from MN.
