To wonder if USA are behind Sailsbury attack?

Perhaps I've been watching too many spy dramas, but to me, Russian nerve agent being used to blatently target ex Russian spy screams of a set up from somewhere.

USA are embarassed by the increasing evidence that Russia was able to influence their democratic election.

Forcing their 'closest ally' to condemn Russia for an attack on British soil (and therefore condemn Russia) seems like a way to bring the world back to seeing America as top dog.

Why such an immediate jump to the obvious answer?

I have wondered whether it was the UK or US behind it. I think the UK is equally likely to have been behind it as the US.

But I haven’t followed the story, so am not set on that theory.

Gregoria · 14/04/2018 20:52

Lweji - you have reminded me of a very enthusiastic poster who used to haunt the politics board, posting pretty much non-stop pro-Brexit stuff. I won't name her (him?) but s/he was so omnipresent I suspect people will remember her (or him?).

This keen MNetter has not been seen hair nor hide of since Brexit day.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Only ever posted from a Farage-type viewpoint, but in a more pleasant and conciliatory tone.

Job done, I guess.

GladAllOver · 14/04/2018 20:52

Also as a PP said, to be honest I expected something more professional from Russia than posioning civilans seemingly by accident andapparentlynot killing the targets. Perhaps murdering-bastards-agent are more incompetent, or cruel, these days.
The poison was applied to Skripal's house, and it was reasonable to expect that he would fall ill and die there. As it happened, he and his daughter went into town right after touching it and they collapsed in a busy public place. As a result they were very quickly put on life support that saved their lives.
It wasn't Russian incompetence that saved them, it was the British NHS.

Lweji · 14/04/2018 20:57

@Gregoria

There were also a few pp, including a very pro-Brexit poster (probably the same claig), that haunted the Trump threads. Pretty much all of them mysteriously disappeared shortly after the election. One remained and was perplexed to find itself alone on those threads. Grin

I'm sure MN is not targeted by political trolls. No. Not at all.

List of alleged Russian assassinations in Britain:

15!

uk.businessinsider.com/list-alleged-russian-assassinations-in-britain-litvinenko-2018-3

All by the US I'm sure.

Butterymuffin · 14/04/2018 21:01

Occam's Razor is still a very useful concept, OP.

QueenDoris · 14/04/2018 21:02

I'm afraid we have all been taken for fools. Not only is it a lie that Russia was behind this so called attack, but in fact Salisbury doesn't actually exist . It has been made up by the mainstream media and the establishment to divert us from the fact that Stonehenge was in fact built by alien pixies who arrived on on a spaceship stolen from the Apollo programme. Open your eyes people

Efferlunt · 14/04/2018 21:07

Nope. The weapon was one which could only come from the Russian state because they wanted to send a clear message about their ability to deal with traitors to any dissidents. It’s as massive fuck you what are you going to do about it to USA/U.K. as they know they won’t be much meaningful comback.

Can think of any plausible reason why it would be in the USAs interests to do this

Efferlunt · 14/04/2018 21:07

Can’t

scaryteacher · 14/04/2018 21:10

QueenDoris Bugger, I was going there for the day in June. The cathedral really isn't old, and is just a mock up then?

user1474652148 · 14/04/2018 21:10

Oh thank you so much for clearing that up! Salisbury was caused by the Americans murdering the British public with chemical weapons why didn’t I think of that... silly me

Anniegetyourgun · 14/04/2018 21:11

QueenDoris there's a major flaw in your argument.

I have seen incontrovertible proof that the Apollo programme was in fact a programme of disinformation. Nobody actually left the surface of Earth. So I'm afraid the pixies must have come by some other means or - and I do rather lean towards this explanation - they were here all the time.

ps Stonehenge is plastic really.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 14/04/2018 21:13

For weird reason I keep reading OP posts with Meerkat accent Confused

Wink
user1474652148 · 14/04/2018 21:13

Absolutely mn does not have Russian trolls. That is all fantasy as well.... thank goodness for op and her pearls of wisdom

QueenDoris · 14/04/2018 21:20

@scaryteacher Salisbury Cathedral is actually made from old cornflake boxes and is on the Swindon ring road

@Anniegetyourgun of course Apollo happened. Have you not watched that great documentary, Button Moon?

Gregoria · 14/04/2018 21:20

Lweji - One remained and was perplexed to find itself alone on those threads. Grin

That moment when you realise that everyone else who thinks as you do was paid to do so. Oh.

Justanotherlurker · 14/04/2018 21:22

And the same people on this thread have been all over Brexit and Trump threads talking about the Russian influence.

I see critical thinking is alive and well, what's the MN meme, stop reading the daily heil RT, Canary?

Lweji · 14/04/2018 21:26

And the same people on this thread have been all over Brexit and Trump threads talking about the Russian influence.

Which never happened. No. Not at all.

Grin

Thank god for our and other's critical thinking. It's the lack of it that gave us Trump and Brexit.

MrsTylerJoseph · 14/04/2018 21:30

I haven’t been on the brexit or trump threads.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 14/04/2018 21:37

OP I had the same thought....

TwitterQueen1

Lol. Me too. I see she has had a post deleted.

Justanotherlurker · 14/04/2018 21:40

I haven’t been on the brexit or trump threads.

Not under this username no, you just ignore the fact that the UK shared intel to other governments and they all backed us in blaming russia.

But because you haven't seen the intel yourself it will be some 4d chess scenario so they can raise the price of chocolate above inflation or something.

Growingboys · 14/04/2018 21:43

Well said lostincumbria

MrsTylerJoseph · 14/04/2018 21:44

I can promise I haven’t been on any trump or brexit threads under any name. But feel free to think what you like if it makes you feel better.

billyfivebellies · 14/04/2018 21:45

Russia specialises in cyber attacks and distortions of the news and media. They have troll factories with literally 1000’s of people working full time, scanning chat rooms and blog sites comment section ect.
I am waiting for some to pop up on here, maybe they have already.
If you think the UK or USA were behind any of this you need to hand back your pen license!
