If the council in Windsor wanting to clear homeless out ?

I mean why don't the royal couple open a shelter instead given they are 'humanitarian' ?

@biscuitraider The murder rate in London now equal to New York

Actually, it’s more like the murder rate in New York is now equal to that of London.

I presume that is relatively speaking considering the sheer size of New York consisted to London.

(Please do not try to assist, autocorrect. Grr)

biscuitraider · 14/04/2018 22:07

Well considering we don't have the guns that they do in America it's pretty bad.

ImListening · 15/04/2018 07:35

Prince Philip is 96. He’s of a different generation. We used to continually have to tell my Nan & some of my older relatives that they couldn’t say what they did as it wasn’t right. Some would listen & some would ignore. But we pulled them up on it every time. I’d still visit them if they were in hospital if only to make sure they weren’t being racist.

I also don’t think that the issue with MM is a racist one. I actually think it’s a snob (can’t think of a better word) one because he’s marrying an actress.

SaltireSaltire · 15/04/2018 08:33

Philip is surrounded by advisors and PR people. He will have been taught endlessly bout diplomacy, tact and how to behave in front of cameras, reporters and the public. He knows - he feels entitled to behave as he wants and knows there is no consequence! Privilege, wealth and status untouched. No excuse.

CelticSelkie · 15/04/2018 09:09

I reckon he will die just b4 the wedding.

octonaught · 15/04/2018 09:13

I think they’re trying to eke out Prince Phillip till after the wedding. Apparently he has bladder cancer. I hope he can last till Eugenie’s wedding. All these random hospital visits I suspect are a ruse.

BertrandRussell · 15/04/2018 09:14

"Prince Philip is 96. He’s of a different generation"

Yes, he's just a loveable old great grandad . Not a hugely coached, media trained public figure surrounded by courtiers, advisers, PR professionals.......

keiratwiceknightly · 15/04/2018 09:23

Rose white tips - both cities are v equal in terms of population. Both have about 8.6 million and growing.

BalloonSlayer · 15/04/2018 09:47

I actually think it’s a snob (can’t think of a better word) one because he’s marrying an actress.

PG Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster stories have a very high proportion of plots regarding young men needing extricating from their engagements to actresses. Obviously that's inexplicable to modern, decent, people but if anyone still lives the Bertie Wooster lifestyle (private income, valet, maids to pack for you, spending weekend after weekend at someone else's country pile etc) it's the Royal Family.

findingmyfeet12 · 15/04/2018 10:11

Philip doesn't even have the decency to try to hide his racist views despite the best advisers money can buy. He knows he's untouchable and uses it to its full advantage.

By all accounts the queen mother and princess Margaret were cut from the same cloth too.

ElliePhillips · 15/04/2018 10:20

They are racist not only because of white privilege but because, like most racists, they are not very clever. Collectively the royal family are rather dim.

ElliePhillips I'd love to see the Windsor children and grandchildren attempting to compete with the rest of the world on an even playing field when it came to jobs and careers.

biscuitraider · 15/04/2018 10:55

I agree and i'd be amazed if the whole damn lot of them didn't have the same views, but far too clever to let it be known.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/04/2018 11:34

I can't comment on the queen mother, but I met Margaret while working at a Scout/Guide international jamboree

Practically every leader had a story to tell of offence she'd caused at some other event, and let's just say that that the young black people were kept well out of her way when it came to actualy speaking with the hoi polloi Hmm

SaltireSaltire · 15/04/2018 13:04

Yes Margaret and Queen mother well known as racists (and entitled drunks). Philip a good match personality wise. A few nazi sympathisers in the royal closet

biscuitraider · 15/04/2018 13:38

The queen mother, so entitled that she thought of money like monopoly money, thought the whole world was hers for the taking, died owing about £6 million to the bank. As if any of us could do that. But the media kept telling us she was the nations favourite granny, that sweet smile hid a greedy, extremely racist woman. Funny how it all comes out once they've gone. There'll be far worse no doubt.

findingmyfeet12 · 15/04/2018 14:03

It's reasons like this that I just don't understand the mentality of people who queue up to get a glimpse of these people and bow down them.

They think the rest of us are cretins and barely even conceal their contempt for us yet people persist in thinking they're doing a great job and are worthy of our adoration.

Viviennemary · 15/04/2018 14:16

Princess Anne is pretty rude and entitled too I've heard. Well she could hardly be anything else coming from that family.

TeisanLap · 15/04/2018 14:56

Philip is far from pleasant with his racism. I wonder if anybody actually likes him, the royal family included; he went into hospital on April 4th and didn't have any visitors from the royal family until the 12th when Anne went to see him - why? (according to the BBC)

He’s well known for not wanting visitors when he’s in hospital. He says it disrupts the running of the Hospital and there are other means of communicating with his family.

And the BBC know that. They’ve reported it often enough

JennyJames · 15/04/2018 15:18

I don't agree they're a good deal. I think the country would make far more out of tourism if they weren't there, as does France

You think France makes more in tourism than the UK because they no longer have a monarchy???

LaurieMarlow · 15/04/2018 15:25

Have you ever seen the hoards at Versailles?

findingmyfeet12 · 15/04/2018 15:28

Surely people visit the UK to see monuments etc not to have a cuppa with the queen. All of those things would still be there for tourists to see.

SerenDippitty · 15/04/2018 15:34

I don’t think she’s going to find life as a minor royal quite as glamorous and exciting as she thinks. The media and public interest will wane - I mean who really cares about Sophie Wessex these days?
