worstwitch18 · 11/04/2018 12:31

In all seriousness obviously it would be terrible.

DownWithThatSortofTing · 11/04/2018 12:33

yeah, you're going to get so many people saying yabvu, its a great plan!

Hmm
Mydoghatesthebath · 11/04/2018 12:36

It’s terrtfying having 2 narcissistic testosterone ridden idiot men in charge of the USA and Russia. Totally terrifying

@realDonaldTrump

Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!

OMG

Seriously op?
Two testosterone-riddled egomaniacs, wildly willy waving at each other, and neither have any conscience or the intelligence to talk to each other first.
God help us all.

Tiddlywinks63 · 11/04/2018 12:47

Hopefully someone will bump these two off first?

RockyBayEve · 11/04/2018 12:47

Seriously op?

Check out the Guardian and the BBC

OP posts:
Mydoghatesthebath · 11/04/2018 12:48

I am hoping there are lower level talks and these clowns are as you say Tiddly willy waving

Sparklesocks · 11/04/2018 13:27

Similiar AIBUs:
AIBU to think the sky is blue?
AIBU to think a lot of people want to win the lottery?

OliviaStabler · 11/04/2018 13:28

Load of posturing. Never going to happen.

angryburd · 11/04/2018 13:30

No, everyone thinks it's a great idea OP.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/04/2018 13:50

"War - huh - what is it good for?"

BuggerBugger · 11/04/2018 13:51

I'm not sure why everyone is being dismissive of the OP. Relationships between East and West are at their lowest since probably Cuba and the OP understandably wants to have a decent discussion about it. Or does everything in AIBU have to be about inane subjects?

Dismissing it as willy waving is daft. The might be unpopular but I think US administrations instincts on this are possibly correct. How many times do we allow Assad to do this and do nothing? How many times do we let the Russians get away with assassinating people in the UK? How many elections do we allow them to meddle in?

Doing nothing like Obama or as Parliament voted for on 2013 hasn't done anything. Innocent men, women and kids are dying in their droves and we do nothing about it?

It might be easy call it willy waving, actually thats so dismissive and ridiculous. Do you think it would be different with Hillary in power? I'm no fan of his and the megaphone diplomacy of Trump isn't great but look behind the scenes and you will see the sanctions that he has imposed on Russia is making a real difference to their economy. I suspect Trump understands economic warfare rather better than he does military action.

megletthesecond · 11/04/2018 13:56

Have you only just started getting worried about this? It's terrifying. It's been rumbling below the surface for a couple of years.

angryburd · 11/04/2018 13:57

@buggerbugger because "aibu to think that war between two of the biggest and most powerful nations on earth might be a bad thing" is a fucking stupid question.

BuggerBugger · 11/04/2018 14:03

angryburd, most of AIBU consists of stupid questions. In this case I suspect the OP just wanted to open a conversation, which surely is the point of a forum?

But I also suspect you know that and I forgot this is AIBU which seems to have the point of not discussing much but exists merely to slag others off.

Flexoset · 11/04/2018 14:06

I reckon Putin probably has the intelligence to avoid this.

He would push most normal leaders around with brinkmanship, but Trump is genuinely stupid enough to keep going as far as war. So Putin's normal bullying might not work on Trump. What Putin will do instead is not clear.

It would all be very interesting if it wasn't so fucking terrifying.

Orlandointhewilderness · 11/04/2018 14:09

This is scaring me at the min.

PattiStanger · 11/04/2018 14:11

I assume people are being dismissive as the thread title has got to one of the stupidest of the day.

Not everything had to be posted in AIBU, why not post in chat without a silly title?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 11/04/2018 14:15

Yeah we should just stand by and watch Russia use chemical weapons on children.

RockyBayEve · 11/04/2018 14:23

I think a title like AIBU to think WW3 could be imminent would have been a tad triggering...

There were no threads about this that I could find and I think as it's the most worrying development I can recall that it warranted discussion.

Before the War in Iraq there was a massive anti war movement back then but nothing now?

Theresa May is also on the war path btw.

OP posts:
YourVagesty · 11/04/2018 14:30

Well that would be emphatically bad.
