Lweji: AFAIK, traditional Chinese medicine was promoted by Mao because China couldn't afford to build a domestic healthcare training system. It was also ideological: TCM was pushed much harder after the Cultural Revolution. Now it's a multi billion dollar business sector, which like any other needs a fresh supply of gullible idiots customers

Lweji · 12/04/2018 10:03

**

Not necessarily. One of the main issues is the lack of regulation and ingredient/component standardization.
It leaves the door open for fake medicine. Or bad medicine, in the immortal words of Jon Bon Jovi.

At least dragons are already extinct.

At least dragons are already extinct

What?!? Shock

But I'm going to Wales next week.

Lweji · 12/04/2018 10:10

Only in China, of course. Grin

Natsku · 12/04/2018 10:12

Found you guys again. Took a break to stop thinking how insane the world is right now so now I have no idea what's going on but it sounds like it's kicking off?

Speaking of China

'My hair turned white': report lifts lid on China's forced confessions
Those coerced into confessing are dressed by police, handed a script and given directions on how to deliver lines

I don't know how much power and influence the Speaker has but this is interesting.

And in case you've missed it:

As Lawrence O'Donnell said in the previous clip, Majority Speakers can and have held Presidents to ransom.

I liked the reference to Alex P. Keaton. Grin

Quantumblue · 12/04/2018 10:36

China has bought a hell of a lot of infrastructure and agricultural land in Australia.

Natsku · 12/04/2018 12:23

So the Chinese are living in a dystopian future novel. Fun.

Democracy works best when politicians are infused with a sense of courage - a high bar for most I concede. The courage to vote your conscience, tackle tough challenges. And the courage to face the voters. I don't think Paul Ryan will be remembered as a profile in courage.

cozietoesie · 12/04/2018 15:24

No. I don't think he will. Wink

cozietoesie · 12/04/2018 15:39

I have to admit that it's a novel way to aim for a Peace Prize. 'He could have destroyed the world but he decided not to.' Wink

If you've ever worked for the DJT, you'll either be running for your files to dispose of them or to make them easier to find, I suspect.
