This looks like a parody but it's one of those things that might not be.

cozietoesie · 12/04/2018 15:57

I don't think it is a parody. (The website looks like a mess by which I suspect it's carefully set up to do something or other.)

A (borrowed) Beast piece.

NRC starts campaign to discredit Comey

I made it here from the previous thread. I am trying not to get stressed-out over the news, not easy when we get two newspapers delivered a day, in addition to ipad, tablet, desktop, etc.

So, I use this thread as a sort-of summary of the latest Scrotus rants.

Macron has proof that Syria used chemical weapons.

Not sure how this will end. Iraq was invaded for less.

While Pompeo's hearing is not off to a good start.

Protests interrupt start of Mike Pompeo's Senate hearing
Over in Washington, protesters are interrupting the start of Mike Pompeo’s Senate hearing to be Donald Trump’s next secretary of state. Pompeo, the hawkish director of the CIA, has declared that years of soft US policy towards Russia are over and vowed to promote democracy and human rights.

Arming teachers is still not a good idea...

A teacher from the Florida high school where 17 people were shot dead two months ago has been arrested after leaving his gun in a public toilet. It was found by a homeless man who fired a bullet into the wall

Welcome CanadianJ we're good at summarising Grin

lionheart · 12/04/2018 17:15

Hello CanadianJ.

CanadianJohn · 12/04/2018 17:42

I've been watching from the beginning, and even posted once before. However, I have no primary source of information, and I'm more of a lurker than a doer.

Just like in real life.

money.cnn.com/2018/04/12/media/trump-national-enquirer-doorman/index.html

National Enquirer paid doorman with gossip on Trump $30,000 to keep quiet
The New Yorker and the Associated Press published stories saying that National Enquirer publisher American Media Inc., paid $30,000 in late 2015 to Dino Sajudin, a former doorman at a Trump building to prevent him from publicizing a rumor that Donald Trump fathered a child out of wedlock.
In a practice called "catch and kill," the publication bought the exclusive rights to Sajudin's story and then buried it as a favor to Trump, the reports said.
AMI also reportedly paid former Playboy model Karen McDougal $150,000 in August 2016 for her story about a nine-month affair with Trump.

"America is stronger than you,” Walter Shaub told the Republican who last night plugged a Fox News programme featuring strong criticism of Mr Mueller and deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein, following the raid on his personal lawyer’s office.

Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 12/04/2018 18:22

The odd part about all the salacious rumours being squashed is how unnecessary it was. Apparently good Christian Americans don't care if their president spends his time shagging out of wedlock, paying for sex, etc. Apparently women can't be trusted with their own ovaries, but if the president can't keep his todger in his trousers, that's doesn't matter at all.

Longtime supporter, political appointee and campaign aide of the Grifting Grafter in Chief dishes on the grifting and grafting of the EPA Head; his support of the Grifting Grafter in Chief to is cited to add veritas to his complaint against the grifting, grafting EPA Head. Isn't that a bit like the Artful Dodger complaining Bill Sykes is a wrong un, after cheerleading for Fagin to be Keeper of the Crown Jewels?Confused

lion, I recall him being interviewed several times, Daily Politics/Newsnight , when he was mooted for EU Ambassador. I have a vague recollection of his name in connection with Roger Stone. Here's a recent Brian Williams clip:

ohmymimi · 12/04/2018 19:09

lion,

I should have said US Ambassador to the EU. Here's some more. Spoiler: EU not keen on him, something to do with his 'outrageous malevolence'.Shock

Was there some occasion when the Clintons caused trouble for Mueller that I don't know about? Also, isn't Donny a clever boy - he's learnt how to spell Counsel.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
I have agreed with the historically cooperative, disciplined approach that we have engaged in with Robert Mueller (Unlike the Clintons!). I have full confidence in Ty Cobb, my Special Counsel, and have been fully advised throughout each phase of this process.

Where do you think we are on that diagram? I'd like to think that the mumsnet trump threads are yellow box, not too much left hand side (I realise that liberal seems to mean something different to Americans) but I'm sure plenty would disagree.
