To find floral tributes being left for Harry Vincent offensive

This is an attempt to intimidate the innocent family. Flowers should be removed - isn’t it littering?

I am not celebrating his death, nor am I sad he died, not at all, he got what he deserved. He was a criminal committing a crime, he was armed with a weapon which he could have used against Mr Osbourne, but for whatever reason, Mr Osbourne overpowered him and used it against him. You go into a life of crime, expect that you might be killed or injured as a result.

CupofFrothyCoffee · 11/04/2018 14:36

It's not 'sterotyping' when we have real experiences of dealing with members of the 'community'

It is when you assign those experiences to all members, though. By definition

I have never said 'all'. I have said the majority in my experience. The man who does my garden is a traveller, I get on well with him, we talk , he's nice - he's in the minority.

And by the way, does racism only work one-way because it's a well known fact around here that travellers despise us 'settled' people.

CupofFrothyCoffee · 11/04/2018 14:37

#Some most travellers -

Aeroflotgirl · 11/04/2018 14:39

They do CupofFrothy, settled people or non travellers, are knows as Gougers, and are looked down upon.

CupofFrothyCoffee · 11/04/2018 14:54

Aeroflotgirl

Oh right, I've never heard that before and yes, certainly looked down upon.

margesimpson40 · 11/04/2018 15:00

The pensioner should apologise, he was defending his home, wife and himself, surely it wasn't his intention to kill the burglar and surely he's not glad he killed him.

TheJoyOfSox · 11/04/2018 15:01

Maybe there should be a national "It was bound to happen" arboretum where relatives of speeders, boy racers, burglars, base jumpers can go & put their Esso Posies in safety without littering....

Just this.

Springnowplease · 11/04/2018 15:01

The pensioner should apologise
^^
Right there the most stupid statement in a thread full of stupidity.

MissEliza · 11/04/2018 15:03

Why are people so sure those involved were travellers? I'm sure I read that the getaway van was driven by a black man and I'm pretty sure there aren't any black travellers.
Whoever they are, they're scum.
We have quite a number of 'settled' travellers in the school I work in. I have to say, I generally find them to be lovely people. Some of our lunchtime controllers are travellers and they are super firm with the kids and very thorough in their jobs. I have noticed though that the travellers who pass through our community are very different. I guess that's a lot to do with knowing the local community aren't too wild about you parking your caravans in the supermarket car park!

This is how I feel.

I am also glad to see the community ripping down the flowers, and think it's a joke that the family of the 'deceased' think he deserves respect.

Using the kids in the family to say 'they didn't know my daddy like I did' is pathetic and low too.

Awful people, all of them, and yeah, I don't feel sorry for criminal scum. Live by the sword, die by the sword!

GorgeousJaws · 11/04/2018 15:04

The pensioner should apologise

Really? How stupid.

MagneticMan · 11/04/2018 15:05

Earlier on in the thread I said the travellers were shielding Billy Jeeves, the man who left their relative dying in the road.

Another poster replied that they were likely planning revenge rather than shielding him.

I read this comment online earlier from Elvina Lee, a cousin of Henry Vincent:

“Billy Jeeves? I love him. He shouldn’t be arrested.” Hmm

Seriously?

Well the family describe themselves as travellers and live on a traveller site so that's the initial query dealt with.

Billy Jeeves (a white traveller who was also on the wanted list with Henry Vincent) has torched his van and gone into hiding. I think that clears up the second point.

There was no black man involved, just two white travellers armed with a screwdriver.

Springiscoming123 · 11/04/2018 15:11

The pensioner should apologise i hope thats a typing error as the rest of the post seems to back the pensioner

i hope so

ReanimatedSGB · 11/04/2018 15:18

I think that comment was someone raising the fact that others had said the pensioner should apologise and the poster was saying why this wasn't reasonable.

As I said earlier, part of the reason this is now a right clusterfuck is outside agitators - at least one of the people who removed flowers announced himself to the media as having no connection with the area and having driven over from North London because he is an interfering, bigoted dumbfuck who wanted his picture in the paper.

GnotherGnu · 11/04/2018 15:19

And by the way, does racism only work one-way

Has anyone on this thread claimed that it does? One of the most tedious aspects of racists is that they love to claim, completely erroneously, that people who dislike racism close their eyes to racism from members of other races.

CupofFrothyCoffee · 11/04/2018 15:26

No what's tedious is your posts trying to tell me I'm 'racist' because I've said I dislike the criminal behaviour of a 'community'.

VestaSheridan · 11/04/2018 15:29

I wonder what the reaction would be if the stabbing was by a young black man in hackney

The reaction would have been the same no matter what the colour of the burglars skin was

Oh ouch! You misunderstood the question which was "what if the stabbing been BY a young black man in Hackney" (as opposed to an elderly white man in the burbs). But your mind went straight to the young black man as the burglar rather than the victim.

Wonder why that was?

If the stabber had been a young black man instead of an elderly white man the responses would have been very different.

Mightymucks · 11/04/2018 15:30

Racism doesn’t work one way. The idea of ‘structural racism’ which says that it does was basically thought up to excuse blatant racism on the part of minorities.

It’s also questionable whether our structures are racist too given that in recent years the biggest scandals have involved failure to investigate minorities not the other way around.

CupofFrothyCoffee · 11/04/2018 15:31

But your mind went straight to the young black man as the burglar rather than the victim

Don't be ridiculous, I scanned the question too quickly. Why are you assuming I'm white?Confused

VestaSheridan · 11/04/2018 15:32

Racism doesn’t work one way. The idea of ‘structural racism’ which says that it does was basically thought up to excuse blatant racism on the part of minorities

Wowser. Racism was made up because the real victims are the white folk?

This thread just keeps on giving endless racist bullshit

VestaSheridan · 11/04/2018 15:32

Don't be ridiculous, I scanned the question too quickly. Why are you assuming I'm white

Good excuse. you are though, aren't you?

Growingboys · 11/04/2018 15:33

It is offensive and threatening.

I didn't leave flowers in the intensive care hospital ward where my father died. I left them on his grave when he was buried.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/04/2018 15:33

I think marges post was a typing error. Yes travellers sometimes refer to non travellers as gougers, as seen on a programme about travellers. Anyway traveller or not, this man was a criminal, I certainly don't feel sad it his death.

To say I feel sad it this man's death, would be supporting his actions, as he died committing a crime by somebody defending themselves and their family. You live by the sword, you die by the sword.
