To find floral tributes being left for Harry Vincent offensive

This is an attempt to intimidate the innocent family. Flowers should be removed - isn’t it littering?

ffs. im hiding this thread, i could not agree more that this poor bloke is the ultimate victim.
i dont give a shit about scummy reprobates who decide to commit burglary - their look out if they get stabbed as far as im concerned and it was justified use of force. under common law. great. im all for that.

but what exactly do people THINK police can do to stop floral tributes??????????

what LAW HAS BEEN BROKEN???

if the fence owner rings up (please femce owner ring up!!) then maybe something can be done.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 10/04/2018 19:07

I don't understand how flowers are meant to be intimidating? Whats so scary about carnations?

Oh you do repel you absolutely do understand. 🙄

miffytherabbit1974 · 10/04/2018 19:07

"Is it just me, or has this thread spiralled through a tear in the space/time continuum into another bizarre alternate reality, or has someone slipped some LSD into my cup of tea?

No not just you. I know we disagreed earlier on some things but I can't believe someone called you racisthmm, that's bizarre."

Lol. Thank goodness for that, Takeaweeseat! I had to get my partner to read the thread for me because I thought my brain was malfunctioning! ;o)

nancy75 · 10/04/2018 19:07

Like a previous poster I used to live near to the area these travellers are from. The place is a no go area for everyone because the travellers there are a law unto themselves. This family don’t give a shit about what their son has done, they don’t care that their actions are upsetting all of the people that live in that road, all they care about is getting their own way and intimidating everyone around them. As for actually being travellers, that’s only true in the sense that they live outside of normal society and won’t live by our rules and laws ( unless signing on, they are happy to fill in those forms)
Just because a culture is different to ours doesn’t mean it’s worth protecting.

Caucho · 10/04/2018 19:08

Please should be tearing it down themselves. It’s not a public place and against someone’s private property. They have no right to erect such a tribute but the police always bottle it when it comes to certain issues. If it was anyone else I can guarantee they would not be saying the same spiel

Caucho · 10/04/2018 19:09

Oops Police not please

stillvicarinatutu · 10/04/2018 19:11

ffs. caicho the police have no power to tear down a floral tribute.

let the fence owner ring 101 and create an incident number and then maybe police would have a power to act.

im getting very very cross at what people expect of police on this thread. look at the law.

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 19:11

I expect this will be the death of that elderly couple anyway. Poor things.,what a society when even some mumsnetters can defend the scum bag and then say the victim was drinking stout!

Probably rape apologists too! ‘Well what was she wearing? Was she drunk?

Sickening

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 19:13

miffy

I defended you too and we had disagreed earlier. It was a disgraceful comment

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 19:15

Repel

You do you just don’t care. Still apparently I am the racist dick!

Lovely person

frankchickens · 10/04/2018 19:15

Why would you start a thread like this though? If not to incite racial hatred which is evident throughout this thread.

I can assure you I had (and have) no desire to incite hatred, racial or otherwise.

I was offended by the very obvious taunting of the burglary victim and attempts to intimidate others - one local told the BBC he thought it was an aggressive act and I agree.

I haven't made reference to travellers since that's not relevant, I'd feel the same whoever did it.

I do think the Police are in a difficult situation - if they stop it, they'll be accused of racism or bias.

Police can stop stuff they don't like (see kettling demonstrations for example) but it's never popular.

I hope this thread doesn't get pulled - but some comments, as on many threads, aren't acceptable imho.

@Mydoghatesthebath

Thank you, @Mydoghatesthebath. I appreciated your comment. Sorry for the delay in writing, it was because I have a habit of working backwards through a comment thread!

Best wishes.

frothycoffee, I moved in with no idea they wanted it then couldn’t understand why people were shoving dogshit and lit paper through my letterbox and banging on my door in the middle of the night. I was only 19, it was really scary.

They didn’t even want it to live in. It was very close to the station, close to a dual carriageway with access to the M25 and tucked away in a corner where it was very hard to observe. It had been vacant before I moved in and it was basically used as an HQ for them to deal drugs from. The council reclaimed it and let it to me but they wanted it back.

The police got involved and told me if I had somewhere to go to leave as quickly as possible and if I stayed to have a piece of wood with nails in it to hand to protect myself.

Of course the council counted this as making myself intentionally homeless and refused to rehouse me, luckily some friends had a flat share I could move into. But I lost my access to social housing in Greater London and had to move away because private lets were unaffordable. I am a long way from my elderly family now. This was the same group of travellers. I’m sure they never spared a thought for me. Sad

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 19:18

Don’t bother biting op.

Your post was perfectly legitimate and proper. Don’t even bother addressing the crazy race accusations you can’t argue with stupid

Whisky2014 · 10/04/2018 19:18

Who? The fence owner being the man who stabbed the fucker who burgled him and cant go home?
Why are you getting annoyed at expecting the police, who seems to expect people to do anything they ask them to, to not take down a horrible floral tribute to a burglar killed in the home he was burgling? Does that not sound insane to you? The police cant do anything? Why not?
Vicar you sound like a police version of "computer says no".

In my experience the Police are quick enough to help the wicked yet do NOTHING for people who need their help for something good.

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 19:18

Sorry Miffy that was a tad me too! Grin

Best to you too Smile

Birdsgottafly · 10/04/2018 19:19

The situation is escalating because a man, who has given in the name of someone who also killed an intruder and got away with it, went to the fence, ripped down the flowers, threw them in a pile and stamped on them.

In any other situation, they would have been nicked for a breach of the peace, or similar.

The Women put up the flowers, balloons etc, as they do in those circumstances.

If the family wasn't of Traveler background, this forum would be disgusted that the Media took pictures/videos of the messages from the children of the Man and broadcast them.

The fence owner doesn’t need to ring 101, there’s been CCTV trained on the steet since the weekend.

All they need to do is use their loaf and move the family on. It’s not a few bunches of daffs, there were dozens and dozens of bouquets erected dead opposite the burglary victims home.

Residents are telling reporters they feel intimidated.

Birdsgottafly · 10/04/2018 19:20

Whiskey2014 they wasn't outside the house that the burglary took place. The homeower has objected.

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 19:21

Mighty

Awful awful
Situation for you Sad

Whisky2014 · 10/04/2018 19:21

Ah so they can actually do something...they just need to log a ticket first. FOR FUCK SAKE. Fucking ridiculous. How come they can do something if they call up? I thought theres no law broken?

Messages on floral tributes are in the press on a daily basis.

Mightymucks · 10/04/2018 19:22

I can’t speak for all travellers obviously. And like I say I know the ones in Rathkeale are alright, and that there are some in Cork City that live in awful conditions and are very poor - but that group this man is from in Orpington/the Crays I know of and they are horrible
