It's Britain.

It's April.

It's wet.

It's normal.

(I'm still looking for a word to describe those years where the 'four seasons' disappear into constant rain at between 8 and 16 degrees C...)

KateMcCallisterHAmom · 09/04/2018 22:19

The term "April Showers" is not new.

LoniceraJaponica · 09/04/2018 22:19

It was nice here (South Yorkshire) until mid afternoon.

bridgetreilly · 09/04/2018 22:20

Sunny in Prestatyn today.

missyB1 · 09/04/2018 22:22

It’s been raining here for 6 months (Gloucestershire), I’ve given up all hope of it stopping. Even Noah didn’t have it this bad!

Shit?

It's perfectly normal for early April op. There's an old saying 'never cast a clout till May be out'. Basically don't pack your jumpers away till May has been and gone.

You'll be pleased to know that all Mondays and Thursdays will be amazing weather till next winter because those are my days off Grin

AuntMabel · 09/04/2018 22:23

I'd blame the Costa meal deal personally.

That or el niño.

GreyGardens88 · 09/04/2018 22:24

I really love it when it's rainy but warm/mild, not sure why, the air just feels fresh.

theSnuffster · 09/04/2018 22:25

Twas lovely this time last year, spent the day on the beach, OH got sunburn!

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 09/04/2018 22:25

It was sunny and 16 degrees in lovely Wales today tipping down with rain now

megletthesecond · 09/04/2018 22:28

The farmers have been fretting about it too I believe. Too cold and wet to start sowing properly.

LoniceraJaponica · 09/04/2018 22:53

Yes. It has just been on the news. Food shortages and price hikes I think.

UrgentScurryfunge · 09/04/2018 22:53

April showers suggests some sunshine in between.
I think we've mustered up a total of 3 days involving sunshine this year. That's less than the amount of snow we've had Confused

elQuintoConyo · 09/04/2018 22:54

Are you posting from the UK piggy ? If so, there's your answer.

Wide0penSpace · 09/04/2018 22:55

I blame Brexit.

Weedsnseeds1 · 10/04/2018 09:21

Not sure that link works, but Google Flanders and Swann A Song Of The Weather

NorbertTheDragon · 10/04/2018 09:23

I'm so sorry, it's all my fault.

The last few Aprils have been lovely (as evidenced by my on this day on Facebook showing us our on sunny trips in just t-shirts)

With this in mind I thought it would be nice to take the kids on holiday, a cheap glamping holiday on the coast.

And of course it's rained everyday.

It's all my fault!

mintich · 10/04/2018 09:24

I love rainy days!

SimonBridges · 10/04/2018 09:26

Until THE may. Not the month of may. Don’t pack your clothes away the may is in flower.

And yes some rain is perfectly normal but not this much. It has rained every single day of the Easter holidays. Yes some showers and rain is normal but not this much. Facebook is flashing up my ‘this time last year’ pictures and my garden is at least two weeks behind with flowers and blossom.

tishhope · 10/04/2018 09:28

Cos it's UK. Weather has always been the same here: guaranteed to let you down. Summers have a heatwave while you're working or kids are at school and then piss down if you go on a UK holiday. September pissing down while the kids are off only to be glorious once they're back at school.

tishhope · 10/04/2018 09:30

One exception: the long hot summer of 1976. The school holidays seemed to last forever, every day was blue skies and I remember seeing the tar melting on the roads. Since then, bar the odd day - nowt.

MirandaWest · 10/04/2018 09:30

It doesn’t help when my Timehop shows pictures of us wearing only one layer and the sun shining.

Constant rain and temperatures in single figures isn’t much fun
