I went to put the bins out last night and the fog was so eerie. I've not often seen fog at night. The air was so heavy with moisture that I came in damp.

RockyBayEve · 11/04/2018 15:02

Its due to a split in Polar Vortex

grasspigeons · 11/04/2018 15:10

We've not managed to get the allotment going - probably a month behind.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 11/04/2018 15:12

April 2015 was glorious. I had a very rare few weeks off work .

The summer of 2006 was nice. And there might have been a decent summer in about 2013. Other than that, it's been shit since 1976. Or so it feels.

fortunatepiggy1 · 11/04/2018 18:47

In complete desperation I booked a few days beside the seaside fully expecting the weather to continue to be crap..

This is my view tonight... feeling much happier..😀

Although looks like rain again tomorrow 😩

In true British style I am sitting in the tiniest slither of sunshine on the balcony and moving with it until my nose is pressed to the railings!

We've just been on a UK holiday. Knowing what to pack was insane - we took shorts, tshirts, wellies, rainmacs, hats, scarves and gloves and wore them all!
Sunday I was dithering in a forest trying to warm up with my hands around a coffee.
Monday I was lying in the sun on the deck of a boat on the lake in bare feet with my jeans rolled up. Absolutely bonkers.

UrgentScurryfunge · 11/04/2018 20:41

2013 was a snowy winter, but I don't remember it being so relentlessly grey, damp/ wet inbetween. DS1 was camping in a snowy field when DS2 was born Grin

It's been 5oC and perpetually damp/ misty today. I had the lights on at 8am as it was too dark to get dressed without them and the lights on at 5:30. It's like the worst of February.

I am so, so, so fed up of this perpetual gloom.

(Although I'm concerned that it's going to warm up too much for my race on Sunday... I'm worried that my body will overheat if it gets beyond a tropical 8oC Wink)

ForalltheSaints · 11/04/2018 21:04

It is the school holidays still. Have you noticed next week the weather is warmer and better, at least in the south?

Shenanagins · 12/04/2018 20:06

2013 was very cold right up until the summer when it suddenly became a glorious heatwave. It was lovely!

Bluntness100 · 12/04/2018 22:15

I just checked the weather forecast on the bbc, supposed to be 21degrees here wed and Thursday! Blimey.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 13/04/2018 14:31

Sshhhh! Don't scare the good weather away! I want to sneak up on it.

Chattymummyhere · 13/04/2018 14:43

We are waiting to get crops in. It’s going to be a rubbish late season food wise. Expect fresh fruit/veg prices to go up and shortages.

agedknees · 13/04/2018 14:45

Just back from the south of Spain where we had rain (very heavy) for 5 of the 7 days, so it’s not just the U.K.

ManicUnicorn · 13/04/2018 14:58

I'm also an early April birthday and apparently it was a glorious summers day when I was born. Not that I remember it, obviously.

VanillaSugar · 13/04/2018 15:02

I have done nothing, nothing with the kids this holiday as it is too cold and miserable to go out. I’d booked a morning’s sailing for DS and friends yesterday and the instructor brought them back in after an hour as it wa too cold (and he got lost on the lake in the fog!!)

This weather is not normal. It’s almost as if the seasons have shifted 3 months later which is why it still feels like February.

VileyRose · 13/04/2018 15:04

Been gorgeous and warm in Skye all week

HesterShaw · 13/04/2018 15:10

We've had a lovely week down here.

headstone · 13/04/2018 15:26

We also went to southern Spain recently and got almost two weeks of rain. Looking at my mates Facebook pics in Italy, seems they aren't getting a nice spring either. Very disappointing. So it's not just poor old Blighty.

haverhill · 13/04/2018 15:33

It’s deffo wetter n’ colder than normal. Everyone’s been commenting on it. We were in South Wales last week and had literally 3 hours of sunshine; it was blissful. Apart from that pissing down or mizzling.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 13/04/2018 15:37

It's definitely not just the UK - I was in Ireland last week for my mum's birthday, and it was solidly crappy for 5 days. She doesn't ever remember a birthday where it rained all day long.

halfwitpicker · 13/04/2018 16:19

Blardy relentless. So sick of the damp, cold, snow, rain, etc ad nauseum.

Stupidly shaved my legs in expectation of some sunshine this week

turnipfarmers · 13/04/2018 16:22

because it's the school holidays? Apparently next week it's going to be a heatwave.

DownAtFraggleRock · 13/04/2018 16:50

It's not just you - in my bit of Canada it's still.fucking.snowing.

Bluntness100 · 14/04/2018 16:37

Well it's a gorgeous day here. It's a bit discombobulating to be honest. I went out without a jacket this morning, which felt strange, and no heating on all day,,,
