Pretty much what my title says? Who else cuts grass at this time? It's 7pm my son's bedtime and the elderly neighbour has only decided to cut the grass when she has had all day?
It's so loud!

I think you need to get used to it, it's a perfectly normal time to mow and later in the hot summer days. I thought when I read the thread title it was started at 6am or something.

ArdnaGreine · 07/04/2018 19:19

DH outside cutting grass now too. Busy doing other gardening all day long.

Mind you we have no neighbours!!

VladmirsPoutine · 07/04/2018 19:20

Why does it matter that she's elderly? And why should she, elderly or otherwise, have to plan her day around your son's bedtime?

You're being so unreasonable it's rather bemusing.

DowntonCrabby · 07/04/2018 19:21

Absolutely fine, up to probably 9pm I wouldn't think anything of it.

Namechangemum100 · 07/04/2018 19:21

I'd be livid op, but that's only because I have a 1 year old who is a light sleeper and I am totally irrational about all noises outside of the house when she is in bed.

Elementtree · 07/04/2018 19:21

I'm going to cut it the very moment it is dry. The window of opportunity is fleeting.

Ellendegeneres · 07/04/2018 19:21

I used to get my ds down by about 7 then leg it into the garden to mow the garden in the remaining light- was almost darkness as I loaded it away, but bloody brilliant to wake up in the morning and have coffee smelling the freshly cut grass while ds ran around in wellies.
And my sons room overlooks the garden, so if he woke up I went back in when I finished and settled him. It’s like white noise anyway, a constant background noise. Much less annoying than a party or fireworks!

lostherenow · 07/04/2018 19:21

Known neighbours to cut grass until at least 9.30pm in summer here. In fact some neighbours seem to engage in a weird sort of competitive grass cutting where they seem to cut it on a near daily basis.

HildaZelda · 07/04/2018 19:21

Oh come on! Are you actually being serious? 7pm is early evening. No way is it considered 'too late' to cut the grass.

ButchyRestingFace · 07/04/2018 19:21

7pm is fine. Hmm

No doubt your son isn't exactly silent when he plays outside - what about the night shift workers he's probably disturbing?

YouTheCat · 07/04/2018 19:22

What is the point in mowing grass yet? It hasn't had time to start actually growing as it hasn't been warm enough.

RusholmeRuffian · 07/04/2018 19:22

Haha. You are being ridiculous.

It's especially normal to do it later in the evening during summer as it can be too hot earlier in the day.

StripySocksAndDocs · 07/04/2018 19:23

Its only 7. Bright still.

In all seriousness I think it benefits children for there to be some noise when it's their bedtime. Prevents the need of certain conditions (silence in this case) to fall asleep that could be brought into adulthood.

I recall my neighbour mowing his lawn at 10.30pm years ago. Made me laugh as they were the ones with a newborn - figured he was in that new baby fog. Clueless to the time or the grass was bugging him.

NotACleverName · 07/04/2018 19:24

She’s mowing the lawn, not staging a death metal gig. Calm down.

PatchworkElmer · 07/04/2018 19:24

DH has just finishing cutting ours. We have a toddler who is happily snoring, regardless of the disruption.

FuzzyCustard · 07/04/2018 19:25

I thought it was going to be a "3am with floodlights" post. 7pm is completely fine. And her age is immaterial. Stop making assumptions!

retirednow · 07/04/2018 19:26

Maybe she's been doing other things today, 7pm is not late and it's cooler, yabu.

Yes, it's cooler but it hasn't exactly been tropical weather recently so it's quite cool enough during the day.

pinkyredrose · 07/04/2018 19:28

Please don't bring your son up to be as entitled as you.

Coconutspongexo · 07/04/2018 19:28

Oh sorry your ladyship.

Everyone should ask for your permission from now on to do anything

ButchyRestingFace · 07/04/2018 19:30

Maybe it's her cannabis factory she's giving a trim?

Keep the aspidistra flying and all that...

Cowsopinion · 07/04/2018 19:30

yabu it's 7...

Not everything revolves round our kids bedtime unfortunately!
