To be pissed off at whoever decided we should all have unsliced bagels?

Just that really, the New York bagel company used to sell pre sliced bagels until a few years ago, then suddenly none of their bagels were pre sliced because "they had received feedback from customers wanting them not to be pre sliced" Hmm

Who would ever be agains pre sliced bagels 😭 it's a nightmare trying to slice them evenly and the crumbs go everywhere Angry

Get a bagel slicer?

jigsawpiece · 07/04/2018 10:18

Couldn't agree more they were brilliant sliced. I think it's cost cutting not customer feedback at all.

MirandaWest · 07/04/2018 10:19

We liked being sliced - I agree probably wasn’t anything to do with customer feedback

Heratnumber7 · 07/04/2018 10:32

Does it matter if they are a bit uneven when you slice them?
Plus, they are not that difficult to slice!

SisyphusDad · 07/04/2018 10:36

Doesn't the sliced side dry out?

PurpleDaisies · 07/04/2018 10:36

I prefer unsliced so they don’t go dry so quickly.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 07/04/2018 10:37

Never ever had an issue slicing a bagel

NoSquirrels · 07/04/2018 10:37

I’d prefer unsliced. But I didn’t complain! Surely crime happen with any bread?

NoSquirrels · 07/04/2018 10:37

crime = crumbs Hmm

NoCureForLove · 07/04/2018 10:39

How hard is it to slice a bagel?? The pre sluced ones were shit. Unevenly sliced and dried out. Do you buy bags of pre chopped vegetables in the supermarket? (Always wonder who buys those...).

megansmandstop · 07/04/2018 10:41

UABU for thinking New York Bagel co bagels are real bagels. They are just bagel shaped bread and utter crap, pre sliced or not.

Buy a real chewy dense bagel instead. Sainsburys bakery bagels are pretty close for a supermarket version.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 07/04/2018 10:52

Costco bagels are a lot nicer!

I prefer them unsliced as they stay fresher. I have a lovely, but inexpensive, bread knife and I slice them over the sink. It’s a bit messy, but I prefer that over ‘less fresh’.

I didn’t complain though 🤣

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/04/2018 10:55

I make my own...😇

TERFragetteCity · 07/04/2018 10:56

I like my bagels sliced into 3 so am well happy with unsliced bagels.

FrenchDucksSayCoinCoin · 07/04/2018 10:56

Well, I know the absolute plum who put her finger through the hole in order to steady the bagel while slicing it. Hmm
So I she would welcome a return of pre-sliced bagels.

BonsaiBear · 07/04/2018 11:04

Mm I noticed lack of a little half cut to get you started when I bought some recently. But really.. unless you have some fine motor skill issues can't you just figure out how to slice them yourself? It's a matter of seconds out of your life..is it really such a big deal?

NoSquirrels · 07/04/2018 11:08

I assume y’all eat sliced bread? Is it a slicing-bread-products-in-he real issue, or is it bagel-specific fur some reason?

Sorry FrenchDucks I Grin at your comment!

Onesmallstepforaman · 07/04/2018 11:10

New York bagel co. Do pre-sliced bagel thins. In both plain and cinnamon and raisin. But you ABU for eating the horrible, chewy throat blocking things

MorningsEleven · 07/04/2018 11:10

@FrenchDucksSayCoinCoin

🤣

Unsliced is rubbish. I don't mind the drying out issue because I only eat them toasted.

muffyduffster · 07/04/2018 11:40

Warburtons are pre-sliced and quite dry.
I sometimes slice the whole bag, freeze them and then toast the halves from frozen.

jellycat1 · 07/04/2018 12:07

Hmmm sounds a teensy weensy bit lazy op!

DwangelaForever · 07/04/2018 18:00

It's not lazy it's just that the slice ends up all squinty and crumbs go everywhere 😂

I didn't realise there was such an uproar about New York bagel co and how they aren't real bagels 🙈 unfortunately I don't have a Costco and Warburtons don't sell any products in Northern Ireland. I'll just have to make do with my sub par New York bagel co ones for the occasional time I fancy one toasted with bacon.

I liked them sliced. It's uncomfortable to hold the luvverly hot fresh-out-the-oven bagel steady to slice it.

cardibach · 07/04/2018 18:11

I’m confused Jamie. Surely you slice the bagel first then toast it? When does an oven get involved?
