To wonder who is actually responsible for rising murder rates in london

So slimy frog faced Nigel Farage is blaming Sadiq Khan as mayor and particularly for reducing stop and search. There are also other calls for Khan to resign.

But surely there is only so much Khan can do if the government makes huge cuts to the police. And weren't those cuts made under Maggie May?

I didn't vote for Khan to be the mayor, and I am no fan of his, but it seems to me that it is unfair to blame it on him, and that the answer is probably partly government cuts and partly some of his changes since being mayor.

Who still owns CDs?! I still own tapes, play them too Shock

Mightymucks · 06/04/2018 13:02

And I don't own any CDs. Who still owns CDs?!

People who take cocaine. Although mirrors can also be useful.

Reminds me of the story from the people who rented their house to Kate Moss for her wedding and inexplicably found all the mirrors had been removed from the walls and placed face up on the table during her stay...

Mightymucks · 06/04/2018 13:05

Still harder than ordering a pizza!

Getting the first contact is hard. But after that it is as easy as getting a pizza.

I have never taken it myself but may previously have worked in a job where, um, procuring ‘flowers for the model’ was a part of arranging photoshoots...

Battleax · 06/04/2018 13:06
Grin

I own CDs (and vinyl and cassette tapes) but definitely nothing to do with drugs. I’ve never touched coke.

DullAndOld · 06/04/2018 13:07

massive cuts to youth services, as in , there aren't any...

PookieDo · 06/04/2018 13:26

I’ve never taken them in my life but it would not be hard to get hold of any in Essex where I live and it wouldn’t have to be via a youth. A lot of the 30/40 something yummy mummies and daddies are still getting on it in town on the weekend

When I was a kid as we are on the main line train from London you would get gangs come here and set themselves up nicely doing a bit of selling. It is probably still going on and as it’s more ‘rural’ less postcode gang problems. Kids who get iPhones on contract from their parents don’t feel as much need to rob, steal and deal as a kid whose parents can’t afford one. In this day and age youths can feel its criminal not to have the latest phones, trainers and then nice cars, watches and a status in society.

Morphene · 06/04/2018 13:31

can someone explain why one needs mirrors or CDs to do coke?

PookieDo · 06/04/2018 13:33

Cos that’s what they show in films?

Mightymucks · 06/04/2018 13:35

Because it’s powder morphene and it’s expensive. So you snort it from a smooth non-porous surface so that you get as much of it up your nose as possible and you don’t lose any in cracks or pores. You also need to chop it and shape it into lines (normally with a credit or debit card) which is best done on a smooth surface so that you can move it about easily with the card.

DullAndOld · 06/04/2018 13:36

" can someone explain why one needs mirrors or CDs to do coke?"

you need a flat , smooth surface. A plastic lavatory cistern also does the job, which is why so many of them in pubs and clubs have a sloping thing fitted over the top of them.

a dinner plate is also fine but less cool.

Morphene · 06/04/2018 13:38

see I was gonna say a plate would surely work...okay so flat non porous surface that's got a cool vibe. gotcha.

fruitcider · 06/04/2018 13:44

Most young people just dip a tea spoon handle/finger nail in to it and snort that way due to the risk of hep c with shared equipment eg notes. Notes are very old school I've been told! Mind you so is powdered cocaine...

DullAndOld · 06/04/2018 13:45

I must admit the only people I have seen taking cocaine like that recently (with a rolled up note off a mirror) have had an average age of 60.

Bluetoo1 · 06/04/2018 13:46

Lack of jobs and training for teens.
Lack of bobbys on the beat.
Lack of bobbys.
Reduced stop and searches.
Cannabis drug rings. Could it be legalised?
Gang culture.
Winding each other up on social media.
Lack of stuff to do for teens.
Too many guns - where are these coming from? No ones going to find them without stop and search.
In some cases lack of parental support.

DullAndOld · 06/04/2018 13:46

....not that I mix in very druggy circles, so I don't know what the young people do...

fruitcider · 06/04/2018 13:47

Cannabis drug rings. Could it be legalised?

Sorry I just snorted. People are not getting murdered over cannabis in The City! How ridiculous!

fruitcider · 06/04/2018 13:48

....not that I mix in very druggy circles, so I don't know what the young people do...

I detox men, primarily under the age of 30, they tell me what they do when I do their assessments.

fruitcider · 06/04/2018 13:49

And trust me most young people are not interested in powdered cocaine, that's generation x's obsession.

Bluetoo1 · 06/04/2018 13:53

Cannabis drugs
I stand corrected, I thought someone had said that but they said drugs, nothing specific.

Also there is no mental health support now for teens, or not remotely enough. Nor sheltered housing as it has been close due to cost cutting.

Mightymucks · 06/04/2018 14:00

Notes are very old school I've been told!

Apparently the new notes are v good and have caused a resurgence...

DullAndOld · 06/04/2018 14:02

actually the wide straws from Pret a Manger were very useful but they seem to have stopped doing them...

fruitcider · 06/04/2018 14:03

Apparently the new notes are v good and have caused a resurgence...

People have always had the option of straws.

Millennials just aren't into powdered cocaine, they would rather take:

Diazepam/Xanax
Sleeping tablets
Spice/Mamba
Ketamine
Ecstasy
Crystal meth
Crack cocaine

fruitcider · 06/04/2018 14:05

Oh, I forgot pregabalin and quetiapine!

PancakeBum · 06/04/2018 14:06

I'm also a millennial and have never taken any of the aforementioned drugs.

A classmate of mine died after a bad reaction to ketamine. My 17 year old brother smokes weed and I hate it.

DullAndOld · 06/04/2018 14:12

oh pregabilin and quetiapine - I have only heard of those from my millennial son...
Not that he would touch half that stuff on your list, thank God.
