To be devastated at the demise of the Labour Party, and to wonder how anyone can look at themselves in the mirror if they vote for Corbyn now?

snowagain · 02/04/2018 08:56

Just that really.

Been a Labour supporter all my life, til the last election. Because hell will freeze over before I will vote for Jeremy Corbyn.

I am literally devastated at the demise of the Labour party, that has been systematically destroyed from the inside out, by Corbyn and his cronies, and by Corbyn's pathetic behaviour. From his denial of bad behaviour from his party, to the way he shuts down anyone who challenges him. (Including reporters, and his own people ..... if they don't agree with everything he says, he sacks them.)

In the last election, for the first time ever in my life, I was unable to vote, because I am not voting for Conservatives. (Even so, if I HAD to vote by law, I would vote for Conservatives before I would vote for Labour.)

The Labour party is dying a slow and painful death, and is a laughing stock. First of all we have the standing joke that is Corbyn, with his bizarre 'extreme-left' bollocks, and refusing to answer any questions that don't suit him, .......'Mr Corbyn what about the antisemitism in in your party?' 'YES it is a nice day isn't it? Thank you, goodbye!' Fucking twit! Hmm

And then we have his ludicrous and laughable cronies... Diane 'can't count for toffee' Abbott, Monroe 'bigoted ranty' Bergdorf, and now Eddie fucking Izzard in a dress. Hmm

Even people I know who were obsessive Corbynites a year or so ago, are cringing with embarrassment now, as he turns the party into more of a laughing stock every day. And as I said in the thread title, how can anyone POSSIBLY support him and the Labour party now?

That's it really. I am literally so gutted at the demise of my party.

Until Corbyn fucks off and takes his cronies with him, Labour is dead to me. And I know a LOT of people who think the same!

R.I.P. The Labour Party. 😢😢😢

Gottag

Look you can’t keep banging on about the right wing press. Corbyn doesn’t need any help from them to look weak just watch PMQs.

And on the right wing press you see Blaire realised that to become electable you need to be palatable to the general voting public. Corbyn isn’t. He just has the kids who saw him wiping their tuition fees, and that’s gone, and he has momentum supported who don’t give a fuck about traditional labour voters or core values. Hence we have a thatcher situation where yes people don’t like the tories but see no credible alternative. History repeating itself

Read Tweeties posts. That’s a good example of the situation.

Gottagetmoving · 02/04/2018 10:50

You don't sound remotely like a Labour supporter OP or a nice person come to think of it

She doesn't...and she doesn't understand socialism.

Mydoghatesthebath · 02/04/2018 10:51

blatant bias of out media

Lord give me strength!!

gamerwidow · 02/04/2018 10:51

I wouldn't assume @gabbyleo is young my 70yo Dad has been tearing up twitter over the past 2 weeks with similar sentiments. He has also been posting the most ridiculous nonsense about 'friends of israel' in response to the accusations of antisemitism. It's really quite embarrassing.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 02/04/2018 10:52

Y'know if more people had backed Ed Milliband in 2015, this conversation would be irrelevant. Of course "Red Ed" was "unelectable" wasn't he? As a Corbyn "cultist" I'd have been more than happy with a Milliband government.

You get the government you deserve.

snowagain · 02/04/2018 10:52

@mydoghatesthebath

I agree. Corbyn does not need the media and press to destroy him. As I said earlier, he is doing a good job of that himself. Problem is, he is systematically destroying the Labour Party too.

Very sad indeed.

I have always voted Labour.

I was a Labour Party member until 'we' invaded Iraq.

I did carry on voting Labour until recently.

I am politically homeless.

My local Labour Party dominated council have ruined the city where I live which is losing shops and jobs faster than the national average.

The Conservative Party are scary, the Labour Party are self destructing and increasingly terrifying, the Liberal Democrats proved themselves self-serving yes men and the Greens are beyond idiots.

There is no one I would vote for, let alone 'happily' vote for.

This idea that if you're not voting Labour, then you must be some Tory stooge is wrong.

Diane Abbott needs to step down and look after her health. Why the Labour Party still keep someone who's badly controlled illness makes her and the party she represents look utterly incompetent is beyond me.

It looks like there are no good people in politics.

Followers, maybe but no inspiring leaders, no knowledgable voices with clear aims and a capacity for leadership.

The Brexit vote surprised everyone.

All it has done is prove what a collection of remote, career politicians we have, who have no idea what's going on in the country, no idea about negotiations in Europe and no idea about life beyond Europe.

Teresa May seems to be 'leading' because no one else in the Tory Party wants to be the Prime Minister who presided over Brexit.

Jeremy Corbyn is also a career politician who I had never really heard of before he was elected.

He doesn't seem to have any idea about the mood of the country beyond his own London constituency, seems happy to let others speak on his behalf and is tolerant of the sort of incompetence and outright viciousness that would get someone fired in any other industry.

The anti-woman, Bromentum-led, 'movement' within an established party is reminiscent of the dark, wilderness days of Militant is alarming and heartbreaking in equal measure.

Momentum should be unnecessary in a political party which is functioning well.

It will be many years before I vote for any party again.

Gottagetmoving · 02/04/2018 10:53

Look you can’t keep banging on about the right wing press

Well, I don't...but if you think they are not doing a hatchet job on Corbyn you must be mad.
If you think it's only young people who supported Corbyn you are wrong.
He has a lot of support from people in their 50s 60s and 70s who have waited a long time for a real socialist leader.

@ghostoffrankgrimes

I voted for Ed Milliband.

You don’t need to understand any conceit to vote that’s the problem you don’t seem to grasp.

Most people have no idea about socialism or capitalism and care less. they are too bloody busy working.
People vote on who they see as most competent to run the country.

That’s not Corbyn. He didn’t win the last election and he never will

snowagain · 02/04/2018 10:54

Bold fail! Sorry! Blush

crunchymint · 02/04/2018 10:55

Yes the press is bias. But any left wing party to get elected has to understand the reality and work with it. Whatever you think of Blair, he understood how the political system and media worked and how to get elected. Just constantly complaining about the right wing press simply makes Corbyn supporters sound like 19 year olds.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/04/2018 10:55

For all the OPs comments it's certainly a valid point

Never voted labour and I doubt i ever will

But i do think that we need a strong opposition and we definitely dont have that at the moment

Gabbyleo · 02/04/2018 10:55

Utter rubbish! Corbyn is constantly exposing may for the crook she really is. All blair ever did was lie through my his teeth and people were dumb enough to believe him. Including myself! Why should we sink to the same low as the Tories? That's all blair did, act like a Tory. I would really reconsider your political affiliation of you claim to be a labour supporter and think Blair returning to the party is a good idea.

During PMQ's Tory MP's spend their time shouting and heckling when JC speaks. PMQ''s is an affront to democracy. Contrived and disrespectful.

SnowJokeAnymore · 02/04/2018 10:56

Gabbyleo I don't know if you are the poster from a few weeks ago who came out with that information about where the far right leads?

Anyway if not, look up the Soviet Union gulags and Holodomor, the Cultural Revolution and Year Zero in Kampuchea/Cambodia for where the extreme left can take people.

Gabbyleo · 02/04/2018 10:56

I'm actually pro isreal. I just think this whole this has been blown out of proportion!

surferjet · 02/04/2018 10:57

Absolutely.
My dh thinks Corbyn is just what this country needs ( he’s 54 )

crunchymint · 02/04/2018 10:57

Most people don't watch PMQs. It really does not matter.

Mydoghatesthebath · 02/04/2018 10:58

I bloody wish mumsnet had a like button. Spot on post and I totally agree with every point you made.

I am 'politically homeless' too.

My Mum is 80 odd and still claims communism hasn't been done " right" yet.

There is no age limit.

BonnieF · 02/04/2018 10:58

I agree, OP.

Many millions of people, including me, now find ourselves politically homeless. I’m strongly pro-Remain, economically pragmatic / centrist and socially very liberal.

I could never vote Tory, unless that was the only way to defeat the BNP or similar neo-Nazi.

I won’t vote Labour again while Corbyn is leader because he is a life-long Brexiteer, a terrorist appeaser, an anti-Semite, he is not remotely capable of running a G7 country, and as he has proved over the Salisbury nerve agent attack, he could not be trusted to defend the UK from external threats.

My natural political home is probably the Lib Dems but they have imploded into irrelevance. If I were Scottish, I could probably vote for the SNP, but I live in England.

There is a huge void at the pro-European centre of British politics, waiting for someone to fill it and represent us.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 02/04/2018 10:58

I agree. Corbyn does not need the media and press to destroy him. As I said earlier, he is doing a good job of that himself.

Unless you've met Corbyn in person, every view of him you get is through the media. Every opinion piece, every headline, every carefully edited interview on TV. The view you get of Corbyn is through the lense of the media and what they want you to see.
