To be devastated at the demise of the Labour Party, and to wonder how anyone can look at themselves in the mirror if they vote for Corbyn now?

Just that really.

Been a Labour supporter all my life, til the last election. Because hell will freeze over before I will vote for Jeremy Corbyn.

I am literally devastated at the demise of the Labour party, that has been systematically destroyed from the inside out, by Corbyn and his cronies, and by Corbyn's pathetic behaviour. From his denial of bad behaviour from his party, to the way he shuts down anyone who challenges him. (Including reporters, and his own people ..... if they don't agree with everything he says, he sacks them.)

In the last election, for the first time ever in my life, I was unable to vote, because I am not voting for Conservatives. (Even so, if I HAD to vote by law, I would vote for Conservatives before I would vote for Labour.)

The Labour party is dying a slow and painful death, and is a laughing stock. First of all we have the standing joke that is Corbyn, with his bizarre 'extreme-left' bollocks, and refusing to answer any questions that don't suit him, .......'Mr Corbyn what about the antisemitism in in your party?' 'YES it is a nice day isn't it? Thank you, goodbye!' Fucking twit! Hmm

And then we have his ludicrous and laughable cronies... Diane 'can't count for toffee' Abbott, Monroe 'bigoted ranty' Bergdorf, and now Eddie fucking Izzard in a dress. Hmm

Even people I know who were obsessive Corbynites a year or so ago, are cringing with embarrassment now, as he turns the party into more of a laughing stock every day. And as I said in the thread title, how can anyone POSSIBLY support him and the Labour party now?

That's it really. I am literally so gutted at the demise of my party.

Until Corbyn fucks off and takes his cronies with him, Labour is dead to me. And I know a LOT of people who think the same!

R.I.P. The Labour Party. 😢😢😢

I think the Conservative party had already shown the worst of themselves by the last election so probably wouldn't perform any worse in an election today. And they would surely have learned the lessons of their disastrous campaign. Corbyn is a good campaigner but I think some of the people who voted for him last time will be disillusioned by what little he has achieved.

I think there were a group of voters in the last election very worried about the Tory idea of a hard Brexit who voted Labour in opposition to that but who wouldn't vote Labour again as their stance doesn't seem much different to the Conservatives'. The Lib Dems and Greens could mop up a few votes but I would predict that if an election were held now voter turnout would be low because people don't like either of the main parties.

Gabbyleo · 02/04/2018 11:00

I'm in my late 30s not a big corbyn fan but I won't be able to take another Tory term in power. I have friends who have left the country because they don't want their children growing up in Tory Britain.

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 02/04/2018 11:01

@BonnieF. Yes. Absolutely.

Mydoghatesthebath · 02/04/2018 11:01

No one is saying Blaire was the second coming but he made labour electable he appeared competent and he didn’t whinge about the press he won their respect.

To get into power you have to have a broad spectrum of support. Corbyn will not ever get this.

malificent7 · 02/04/2018 11:02

I don't really get why Corbyn's views are extreme tbh...More public services, more equality less money on Trident, negotiating with 'bad guys' instead of bombing them, no royals etc seem fair enough to me.
He's not suggesting we put on boiler suits and call each other comrade.

Mydoghatesthebath · 02/04/2018 11:03

Bonnie yes agree

Mayday01 · 02/04/2018 11:03

I was one of those voters who thought JC represented the Second Coming Blush.
When he started hedging his bets and keeping his trap shut during the referendum, I started to wonder.
He comes across as ideological and dogmatic, and someone who won't listen to any other side if he's set his mind on something.
He's full of 'let's have a dialogue' re foreign policy but won't extend that to Israel. He says he'll speak to Womens groups about their concerns re Self Id and then of course be doesn't, and turns a blind eye to women being called Cunts by brocialists in his own party. He says he didn't recognise the anti Semitic mural, which seems unlikely.
Labour in their current form frighten the shit out of me with their support for fringe groups who seem to want to clamp down on Freedom of speech/expression, and bandwagoning for any left cause without critical thought or thinking through the consequences.
If they got in, I think eventually it would cause a massive swing to the far Right.

Gabbyleo · 02/04/2018 11:04

Have you people not seen the state of our NHS. When the Tories end up privatising it after winning another term due to people not voting for Corbyn don't complain as you will babe yourselves to blame.

If you aren't voting labour in the next election I guess you seem to be happy with the mess our country is and want to carry on going in the same way

snowagain · 02/04/2018 11:04

He has a lot of support from people in their 50s 60s and 70s who have waited a long time for a real socialist leader

Not one single person I know in that age group voted for Corbyn, in fact he is pretty much loathed by this age group.

Some of them voted for Tory for the first time

Some of them did not vote at all.

It's basically Corbyn's fault we have a TORY Government.

@BonnieF

I won’t vote Labour again while Corbyn is leader because he is a life-long Brexiteer, a terrorist appeaser, an anti-Semite, he is not remotely capable of running a G7 country, and as he has proved over the Salisbury nerve agent attack, he could not be trusted to defend the UK from external threats.

All this. ^ And I think millions of people feel the same.

It's odd how he was a lifelong hater of the EU and then suddenly supports remaining with them. Just goes to show you cannot TRUST this man. He is disingenuous and sneaky. And those are his BETTER qualities!

Why are the starry eyed little fangirls not seeing this FFS?!!! Hmm

How does one win the "respect" of Murdoch?

ghostyslovesheets · 02/04/2018 11:05

sorry but this is a good illustration of the issues facing the party right now - any decent is instantly attcked, insulted, discredited and silenced and it makes for pretty uncomfortable membership right now.

I am not right wing - I have been a member since 1984 - I have been on many picket lines, I have marched and I have protested and I have seen the party move from left to middle to left again.

But currently it reminds me of being a member in Liverpool in 1985 when Militant ruled and not decent was allowed.

There ARE issues on the left - some factions continue to fail to recognise diversity (as we are all worker comrade and come the revolution we will all be equal) as Militant did in the 80's - doing away with women's groups and black groups

Women's concerns are silenced

Jewish members concerns are ignored

it IS damaging the party and he's not doing enough to stop it

change is needed

Mydoghatesthebath · 02/04/2018 11:06

Ghosto

Sorry that’s utterly ridiculous. The man talks and talks about his politics. Everyone knows exactly what he thinks just like every other politician.

Your obsession with a biased media is disturbing. Would you prefer a less free and less questioning press and BBC?? Very worrying

BertrandRussell · 02/04/2018 11:06

"Diane Abbott needs to step down and look after her health. Why the Labour Party still keep someone who's badly controlled illness makes her and the party she represents look utterly incompetent is beyond me."

Out of interest- what's Boris Johnson's excuse?

snowagain · 02/04/2018 11:06

@gabbyleo

I am NOT a fan of the Tories, so you don't need to keep banging on about their 'flaws,' but I cannot possible vote for Labour with Corbyn as leader.

If being 'electable' means behaving like a Tory then that's not a party I want to be part of. Labour is not are party for neo liberal, neo cons, centre left. That's what the lib dems are for! Labour are losing our fundamental values are for what. To beat the tories?

BertrandRussell · 02/04/2018 11:07

Really? What news source do you use?

Your ignorance of how the press works is very worrying.

Mydoghatesthebath · 02/04/2018 11:09

ghosty totally my sister was attacked and abused in London in 1985. All our family voted labour and remember the militant tendency years. Racist, misogynistic and very frightening people. Sadly as tweetie appears

W0rriedMum · 02/04/2018 11:09

Unless you've met Corbyn in person, every view of him you get is through the media.
I actually have. I think he's a man who would prefer to go back to how things were before this nonsense started. He could attend fringe events and tend to his allotment. He can't be enjoying this either.

crunchymint · 02/04/2018 11:09

Ghosty Yes I agree.

Mydoghatesthebath · 02/04/2018 11:10

Being electable is acting like a Tory!

Honestly really?

MsGameandWatching · 02/04/2018 11:10

My local labour MP is hands on and very visible, he works his arse off for us. I will always vote for him when he runs. I can't bear to think of the hot mess that is the rest of the Labour Party though. Their stance on trans issues finally killed it for me.

Unfinishedkitchen · 02/04/2018 11:10

Do you think David Milliband will ever return? I did like Ed but think if we’d chosen his brother, Labour would be in power now. Far leftism does not win elections.

Because of the wrong choice of labour leader we now have an incompetent government in place. Post Brexit Britain will become a dog eat dog clusterfuck with this current self serving lot in charge.

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 02/04/2018 11:11

@Gabbyleo, of course we're not happy.

However, the Labour Party left a lot of hospital trusts (and schools) in debt with the extensive use of Tory created PPI initiatives, have done nothing to show they are capable leaders and seem to have set themselves up to fail with incredible claims of what they will do if they're elected.

There is no one I trust to not make it worse.
