Which is your favorite Season

and why.

My favorite Season is spring. DD was a spring baby so that's obviously a massive factor. Plus it's not too hot or too cold and all the cute baby animals are born. What's not to love.

Summer.
It's warmer and brighter.

echt · 02/04/2018 09:54

I live in Melbourne, and autumn is the best season; reliably warm days. Never too hot.

MissClareRemembers · 02/04/2018 09:58

Definitely autumn. As others have said, it’s the promise of crisp mornings, the colours, leaves swirling in the air, bonfire night, Halloween, Christmas and my birthday!

But also, I’m quite introverted and find summer and especially the long holidays totally overwhelming. The feeling of having to be out and about and enjoying the weather just floors me!

ReinettePompadour · 02/04/2018 10:02

Autumn. I love the colours, the frosty mornings and bright blue skys. I also like it when its misty/foggy and even a bit drizzly. I love the food and the excitement and anticipation of the up coming events (Halloween, bonfire night, Christmas).

A close 2nd is spring. I love the bluebells and primroses. I love the frosty mornings and fresh cold air. I love the garden birds and bees that start to appear and being able to open all the windows to air the house after the winter.

3rd is Winter. It's so pretty with ice and frost. I see the robins in my garden more in winter too. I like that when I walk my dogs we are often the only people out in Winter. I love sitting infront of a warm fire drinking hot chocolate. I love decorating the house and tree, I love the food, love the clothes I just love it all.

I hate summer though. I hate my car being hot when driving, I hate my clothes being sticky and uncomfortable. I hate that I cant sleep and have hayfever. I hate wasps annoying me if I eat outside, I hate that I cant cool down, even showering 2 or 3 times a day. I hate I have big boobs with boob sweat. I hate that I cant cook things like stews without boiling the entire house. I hate that my lawn goes yellow and I'm not allowed to water it or my plants or wash my car. Its just miserable and crap.

BadLad · 02/04/2018 10:05

In the UK, summer, for the long days and the cricket.

In Dubai and Japan, winter. The latter in particular has a beautiful winter, with bright blue skies and very little rain, on its Pacific coast anyway.

SadieHH · 02/04/2018 10:06

Autumn. Darker evenings, a touch of smoke in the air, Halloween and Bonfire night, scarves and twinkly lights. Love it. Then winter then spring. Detest summer. If I could shut myself in a box from April to September I would do it no question. There is nothing nice about summer.

feelingoodinspring · 02/04/2018 10:08

I love Spring/Summer. It feels more like winter today though!
Can't stand winter it's so depressing.

Trialsmum · 02/04/2018 10:10

Summer, I can’t stand this 6 month long winter 😢

AuContraireStarfishHair · 02/04/2018 10:15

Summer, but only if it’s long and warm and gorgeous. I love that everything seems easier, happier and that there is still time after work to enjoy the weather. No grind of battling through wind and rain to get anything done.

But a miserable wet summer is one of life’s disappointments and I always feel very cheated when we get one.

Strangely though I struggle to wear summer clothes. I hate to admit it but Autumn/Winter clothes look better (on me). Summer clothes are for lithe young things which sadly I no longer am Sad

safariboot · 02/04/2018 10:17

I'm gonna say autumn. Peace and quiet after 6 weeks of the neighbours' rowdy kids. The weather's still normally pretty good, often get a hot week or two. Halloween, Bonfire Night, and the run-up to Christmas. It's usually holiday time for us too.

BluebellCockleshell123 · 02/04/2018 10:20

I love the start of every season. But by the time it gets near the end of each one I'm ready for the next.

daisypond · 02/04/2018 10:24

Summer - because of the light, the warmth, the longer days, being able to be outside without being wet or freezing. I hate winter.

LoniceraJaponica · 02/04/2018 10:25

Summer
I hate, loathe, detest winter
Can you tell I hate winter?

Especially this one which seems to have lasted forever. Last autumn was chilly and damp. I don't recall any lovely autumn days. Winter has lasted 7 months where I live, and I am fed up of wearing winter clothes, being at home all the time because the weather has been far too wet and far too cold to enjoy walking around outside - yes I do have appropriate clothes for this kind of weather, but I simply don't enjoy being outside in the cold and wet (and I wear glasses).

I want to wear summer clothes, eat salad, potter in the garden, sip Pimms or Aperol spritz on a warm day, not need to wear socks, go out without a coat, wear sandals etc.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 02/04/2018 10:26

Summer!

I need sun and warmth, it makes life so much easier and happier clearly in the wrong country here

PointlessUsername · 02/04/2018 10:27

Winter.
Clothes are nicer and i love dark mornings/nights.

TinyRick · 02/04/2018 10:29

Definitely autumn.

Just wish it would hurry up and arrive (Aus).

LoniceraJaponica · 02/04/2018 10:33

Mumsnet seems to have a disproportionate number of winter lovers. In real life I don't know anyone who enjoys winter.

Do these winter lovers live in areas that don't receive much snow/rain/fog? Do they not work or have to drive to work in bad light/bad weather conditions?

Seriously, what is so enjoyable about driving to work in this?

Which is your favorite Season
LoniceraJaponica · 02/04/2018 10:35

And winter clothes aren't nicer. I prefer not to feel constrained under several layers. I don't like being bundled up.

TheSassyAssassin · 02/04/2018 10:39

Am that infuriating kinda person who likes them all for different reasons - new life in spring, long lazy days in the summer, colours in the autumn and cosy warmth in the winter with the odd stunning beach walk thrown in. Yup. Told you I am infuriating! Grin

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 02/04/2018 10:45

If autumn and winter and spring and summer didn't mean damp and grey miserably depressing days, I probably would enjoy them more. It's just grim in this country, you can have an entire month without blue sky and seeing the sun!

SecretBum · 02/04/2018 10:46

Spring! By a mile.

It feels like a big sigh of relief after autumn and winter.

The grass starts growing again, flowers and trees come to life. The nights get lighter and days get warmer, with the hope of less rain and nicer weather to come.

Baby animals are born and there's an end to the constant winter snot and colds and coughs.

ShowOfHands · 02/04/2018 10:49

Lonicera, I could say the same about summer. What is there to love about constant headaches and dehydration, running being a real struggle while the DC are at school due to risk of burning or overheating, faffing with sun cream, shades, insect repellent, bites, can't sleep, sweaty, scorched grass and on and on...

I love autumn and the segue into winter. I love the hibernation, the calming of the world, the colours and smells, the promise of midwinter festivals, frosts, falling leaves, stews and scarves. Beautiful.

Belindabauer · 02/04/2018 10:54

Blimey showofhands, where do you live?
It's been years since I remember days like this!
In fact for the last few years i havent bothered putting my winter coat and boots away.
I do remember the summer of 76 when it was seriously warm.

ShowOfHands · 02/04/2018 10:54

I don't hate summer btw. You can list the bad sides of anything to skew the perception. As a winter lover, poor traffic and road conditions don't make the list but they don't negate it either.

Bunchofdaffodils · 02/04/2018 10:57

Another for autumn. As well as all the other reasons already mentioned, I get that New School Year feeling I used to love as a child. Getting organised to learn exciting new things, new uniforms and stationary.
