Just that really. Surely its ridiculous.

He has joined the National Exhibition Centre?

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 31/03/2018 20:35

Can you elaborate on why you think it is ridiculous please? He ran like everyone else. He must have been democratically elected and has been a very vocal labour supporter for years.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 31/03/2018 20:35

Is there a link?

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 31/03/2018 20:37

Yes, link too please.

MadameRaleuse · 31/03/2018 20:44

He has a longstanding interest in politics, has campaigned for the Labour party as long as I can remember (back to the late 90s) and has always been firmly pro European.

FloatyFlo · 31/03/2018 20:45

What's the NEC?

EasterRobin · 31/03/2018 20:45

He's replacing Christine Shawcroft (who is stepping down over the anti-semitism furore).

Walkingdeadfangirl · 31/03/2018 20:46

I suppose he will be joining one of their all women short lists.

MrsJoshDun · 31/03/2018 20:46

I know he’s stood previously.

Please say he’s not pro Momentum.

EasterRobin · 31/03/2018 20:47

Floaty it is the Labour Party National Executive Committee.

LineysInTheSand · 31/03/2018 20:51

No he's not Momentum, he's centre-left Labour.

Bouledeneige · 31/03/2018 20:51

He came next in the NEC vote so there you go. More Blairite I'd say, I dont think he's momentum but I might be wrong.

I used to know him well. He's not the cleverest man and he's not clever enough to know realise.

Can't bear celebrities getting into politics - seems entitled to me. What do they actually know about how real people live?

OP posts:
EasterRobin · 31/03/2018 20:53

MrsJoshDun No, he's not supported by Momentum.

Stillscreaming · 31/03/2018 20:54

Have they given him a test to see how good he is at noticing antisemitism, I really value the ability to spot antisemitism?

Sesimbra · 31/03/2018 20:55

Why do you think it's ridiculous? I don't understand.

ghostyslovesheets · 31/03/2018 20:55

why can't 'celebrities' be involved in politics - he's a party member and activist - he's allowed to be on the NEC

EasterRobin · 31/03/2018 20:55

I suspect he's a lot more clever than he comes across. He does stage shows in four languages, so he's definitely smarter than most people I know.

MrsJoshDun · 31/03/2018 20:57

Well I’m happy to see anything which weakens Momentum’s stranglehold on the NEC. Apparantly he’s temp until a summer vote.

EasterRobin · 31/03/2018 20:57

@Bouledeneige interesting! I've never met him. What is he not so clever at?

Idontdowindows · 31/03/2018 21:03

Ah yes, the man who said he liked high heels because he had some genes in common with women.... Great choice.

yetanothertranswoman · 31/03/2018 21:05

What do they actually know about how real people live

TBF - a lot of politicians don't know much about how 'real people' live.

yetanothertranswoman · 31/03/2018 21:06

I do think his Question Time rant didn't help the Remain cause pre Brexit.

Stillscreaming · 31/03/2018 21:11

Glenda Jackson was a luvvy who didn't know much about real peoples' lives, if Eddie is a tenth as good as she was, we'll be doing well.

Joanna57 · 31/03/2018 21:16

Fantastic news - for the Tories.
