Lots of advertisers have timings they want things to go out at it will be part of the agreement. Hence the upset when things don't upload on time.

Mumofkids · 30/03/2018 13:07

@cadyheron I'm not for a minute suggesting he shouldn't do that to maximise exposure, it's a business, of course he should.

chicken2015 · 30/03/2018 13:07

I think that's how Instagrammer stands out so once an 'influencer' they become a business they are then selling you a product. As a follower if you look at them as a business its like any other bussiness you see them as a money orientated account. If a instagrammer is seen a persoj their is a more personal connection which you wouldnt have with a business , so its not in instagrammer interest to be transparent. As they need to personal connection with followers to keep the amount of interest in them.

CadyHeron · 30/03/2018 13:08

If half the family are at home/away it makes the children slightly more vulnerable as only one parent is about.

Well, that screws a lot of single parents out there then, doesn't it? How do they cope when there's only one of them about?

MadameGrizzly · 30/03/2018 13:08

It's a business.

It's a business that exploits those twins.

They have no privacy. I've seen them in their snow gear outside their house, I've seen them in their swimsuits, I've seen them sobbing, I've seen them eating, I've seen them in their car seats, I've seen them in the bath, I've seen them in their cots, and I've seen them sleeping. I've seen them almost daily since the day they were born.

I'm not a stalker; I followed MOD for her lipsticks.

why I think discussion is trying to be shut down.

BlueSapp · 30/03/2018 13:09

MadameGrizzly Her whole family is there Confused

Fruitbowl2 · 30/03/2018 13:10

What like going to Florida for a week and posting about it every day.....

CadyHeron · 30/03/2018 13:10

why I think discussion is trying to be shut down.

Who's trying to shut it down? If you notice, I'm discussing. Not shutting down.
Or is a discussion only allowed one viewpoint? That's not how it works.

MadameGrizzly · 30/03/2018 13:11

Well, that screws a lot of single parents out there then, doesn't it? How do they cope when there's only one of them about?

Pretty sure the majority of single parents aren't putting their children, home, holidays, nurseries, schools, activities and work movements on Instagram in real time for their huge number of followers. They might be screwed if they did!!

Stellastartsitall · 30/03/2018 13:11

That's how it works over on Instagram

jamoncrumpets · 30/03/2018 13:12

I've been to seminars about maximising Instagram for business (I used to run a v small business selling homemade products). The seminar was mostly full of wannabe Instamums hell bent on getting their hands on as many freebies as possible.

I can tell you for an absolute fact that there is v v little spontaneity in feed posts, and to some extent stories. In the case of ads, 'squares' are booked up weeks and months in advance with specific instructions about wording of content and hashtags. The time of posting will also be dictated.

Situations in feeds that appear spontaneous are created for impact - why do you think FOD gets the twins out of their buggies in shops so much? Because it's much more in line with his schtick to have them running around and him haplessly trying to herd them.

In such seminars the exposure of children isn't discussed AT ALL. I brought it up, in a 'I wonder if I should show my own child using my product' way and everybody was like 'Yes, of course, kids make money, you could tap into the mum market'. I didn't in the end.

chicken2015 · 30/03/2018 13:13

I think childrens right to privacy is a whole other discussion! As instagrammers are not giving their children a right to prvacy however you dress it up. The parents ultimately decide that. But have decided not to , what the fall out to that is we do not know as in grand scheme of things its a resent phenomena. 20 years or so will be an interesting time.

Mumofkids · 30/03/2018 13:13

@cadyheron but yes they do realtime when they are all out or away, very often. Many of their approaches to this are risky or shortsighted.

chicken2015 · 30/03/2018 13:18

Im not talking about anyone specific, i think the word stalking was mentioned and also its not a conversation going on on Instagram. People blocked when asked questions etc, being called bitchy and not supporting women. Also sock puppeting has happned on this thread ( not that i knew what sock puppeting was untill last few days!) I think all opinions should discussed

Fruitbowl2 · 30/03/2018 13:18

That's so depressing Jam. So Truman Show.

Stellastartsitall · 30/03/2018 13:19

Privacy is so precious. Once you give it out its difficult to get back. Is it really worth it? I'm sure instamums are reflecting.

MadameGrizzly · 30/03/2018 13:20

MadameGrizzly Her whole family is there Confused

I realise that. I saw them all on her stories in real time. Do her children really need to be storied? What's more important - her IG business or her children's privacy?

Showing people the interior of your holiday house, including the children's bedrooms, then showing your family holidaying there in real time just isn't a smart thing to do.

I quite like her IG account and she seems like a genuinely nice person (as do most of the IG influencers!), but in my opinion her children add nothing of value to her brand.

Fruitbowl2 · 30/03/2018 13:23

It's probably too late Stella. Their marketing is probably arranged for months. MOFOD's respective books come out in April and MAy. I don't think they consider it an issue anyway. Smaller instas might reconsider.

RunMummyRun68 · 30/03/2018 13:24

Anyone here get DM's from the perves out there? I know I do. susie verril has also highlighted them too

An attractive, active vlogger like mrs meldrum must get plenty too, fair to say?

She's often seen in her swimwear, gym clothes etc..., 3 lovely little girls. There's not much we don't see to be honest. We see her home lots. All the doors, windows, house layout. Who sleeps where. It's all there to see. The families full address is on the internet.

Now. Back to those perves sending messages. They must feel like they know her personally. Maybe they want to introduce themselves. Her husband reveals his plans....they know he plays golf LOTS....

finks100 · 30/03/2018 13:24

Have just googled an instamums name and companies house. They money made is a lot more than I thought it would be.
This isn’t a ‘look at my cute family’ let me share what I like innocence project, this is business. If you are professional enough to file accounts then you should be professional enough to follow the rules of ASA

I think an interesting question is.. does children have the right to privacy ? In any social media? Not just instagrammer

finks100 · 30/03/2018 13:27

RunMummyRun, I was horrified by those pictures Susie shared. I had no idea that dm’s like that would be sent.
I just can’t imagine trading my privacy for communication like that!

Andmary · 30/03/2018 13:29

Holiday bragging on SM invalidates your insurance. Companies changing/changed policies following famous footballer being burgled while posting about holiday times etc.
