They cliquey ness is cringe though.

PavlovaPrincess · 31/03/2018 20:17

@Fruitbowl2 I'm certain of it. Even one little known IGer who was mentioned only briefly on here managed to gain another 300 followers overnight.

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 20:18

I'm fairly sure that for a few people moans by about freebies, the extra 5000 followers this week will soften the blow.

ISaidIWasTired · 31/03/2018 20:18

If you see X post a picture of kids school uniform on a public forum is it right to post on a public forum saying oh 'X has posted picture of her kids uniform' therefore highlighting this to an even wider audience - would you do this if you were seriously worried about that child's protection?

No.

And for what it's worth I don't agree with posting pictures of kids publicly in this way either. I'm just not buying into your 'concern'

Stellastartsitall · 31/03/2018 20:18

All nice people I'm sure.

Fruitbowl2 · 31/03/2018 20:21

Tired not wise, no. I didn't do it.

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 20:21

Isaidiwastired that's not what you said originally.
It's downright daft to post kids in uniform on pages with so many followers. This conversation took place after that was all posted not as a direct response

Fruitbowl2 · 31/03/2018 20:21

Stella I think they are an 'empowering squad' 😀

famousfive2018 · 31/03/2018 20:25

Hi all, please could some one link me the original threads to catch up. Thank you

ISaidIWasTired · 31/03/2018 20:26

It's not clever no. Not at all.

The point I'm trying to make is to discuss in a more general way and not to pick individuals apart.

By doing so this discussion has much more gravitas, won't be dismissed as bitchy and won't cause people harm.

laurahill88 · 31/03/2018 20:26

@famousfive2018 this is the 5th thread now...’instamums 3’ turned quite foul and got deleted so search for instamums, 2, 3.2

Fruitbowl2 · 31/03/2018 20:27

Also Tired they have more followers that there are contributors to this thread, no?

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 20:27

What makes you think it's not concern, tired? Bit of a massive weird assumption. Like your just coming on a thread and calling everyone bitches or trying to put people down.
I don't buy your concern, you seem to just like stirring things up when they had gone back to a normalised discussion.
Out of interest, do people discuss and talk about reality shows?

laurahill88 · 31/03/2018 20:28

I agree @isaidiwastired, it seems to becoming more catty the past hour or so and will bound to be deleted if people start individually naming and slating when that’s not the subject at hand. Let’s not give these instamums something to hide behind and live up to mumsnets reputation for bitchiness so they are forced to listen

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 20:29

Tired, several accounts posted pics of kids in new uniforms with book bags etc it seems to be overstating however serious you think any risks might be.

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 20:29

*oversharing!

laurahill88 · 31/03/2018 20:30

@fruitbowl it would be interesting to see the traffic through these threads. I’m sure mumsnet HQ are loving it with the increased revenue themselves

Fruitbowl2 · 31/03/2018 20:30

Too late for that Tired.

I've never heard the word bitch used more often than in these threads. We are all supposed to be so terribly pc and yet that word isn't a problem at all apparently.

allaboardtheallergybus · 31/03/2018 20:33

Fruitbowl
Well as I had some time on my hands I decided to investigate this, you can thank me later.

Thanet is made up of 3 towns and there are at least 4 private schools. This is an example of people making a comment like its true and it’s completely unverified

ISaidIWasTired · 31/03/2018 20:33

I'm not stirring things up or calling people bitches at all - i'm trying to explain how that comes across in this thread, and how that totally devalues a lot of the very valid points made.

Do you not think this world be a much more worthy and well regarded debate if it was less personal?

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 20:34

@laurahill88 whilst it's not directly from here, if you go to socialblade you can put in any social media user and see they figures and recent followers etc.

laurahill88 · 31/03/2018 20:36

@mumofkids oh that’s really interesting. Wonder how many have come from here rather than their natural increase due to things like hash tagging and those follow Fridays etc. Can anyone use that website?

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 20:38

Yes, but you have to put in the names exactly as they are, I ended up with a weird Motherpukka lol.

Isaidiwastired I think perhaps people bring up a particular influencer when something happens or it's account specific and unfortunately some accounts are much bigger. I don't agree with a pure butch session, but sometimes in forums the line gets crossed when people get into discussions. And the problem is, some accounts have overstated so much detail that people have alsorts of info to draw on. Surely account holders are responsible for how much info and how personal they are in what they share?
