Agreed! Yet every post is declared ‘hilarious’ by his army of parrots... it’s baffling

It's not really baffling though, is it? I mean, if you understand that people are all different and find different things funny.
I probably find the things you find "hilarious" nothing of the sort and be baffled as to what you find funny about it.

here is an ever present undertone of nastiness on these threads that if you look closely, does have a tinge of bitterness and jealously to it..

Yup, although don't say the "J" word, people don't like it lol Grin
Although when some people are saying they wish they had their lifestyle, it's not fair, they're having to keep up, etc.... what word can you use apart from jealous? As in wanting what they have. Envious maybe? What word would you use?

CertainlyChoco · 31/03/2018 11:03

Not a follower of these people but calling people jealous is quite pathetic and childish. Personally I'm in the bracket who can afford some nice things but I think these IG people from what I read and briefly google are quite sad people and many are misleading merchants. Hence i wont be following. Am I jealous then for having a negative opinion?

CertainlyChoco · 31/03/2018 11:05

And Cady, you are way over invested in this!

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 11:15

And Cady, you are way over invested in this!

How so? By answering questions? People are talking about influencers and how they are perceived/ads not being declared.
That's what the thread is about,no?

Not a follower of these people but calling people jealous is quite pathetic and childish.
I'll say again, what word would you use then? If someone has actually said they wish they could afford it all, that it's unfair they can't have and they feel they have to compete to keep up, what word would you use?
Maybe not jealous, then. Envious? Is that a better word?

amelie427 · 31/03/2018 11:17

@CadyHeron

Yes, people are different in lots of different ways.

Some people find the use of children in monetised social media exploitative and ethically questionable. Some people think "their kids, their choice". Both are fair views.

Some people find exposing children's personal details a worrying safeguarding issue. Others think this is a bit over the top. Both are fair views.

Some people find** unclear ad disclosure unfair and potentially damaging to vulnerable people, in this case first time mums in particular. Others think viewers should engage their brains and not buy into products just because they see them on social media. Both are fair views.

These threads have been really interesting and I've seen valid points on both sides. People should be able to have discussions without being spiteful (I've seen this on both sides!).

It's sort of going round in circles and there's a lot of people missing points and not listening (on both sides Grin) ... so I think I'm done!

CertainlyChoco · 31/03/2018 11:18

You're trying too hard to be a smart ass, Cady. Very very tiny minority will try to copy these fake merchants. I'd call those easily influenced and misled. Not jealous.

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 11:18

Well no, because that's not what jealous means. You don't like the content, you don't follow. That's fair enough and the sensible thing to do - have a negative opinion all you like, that doesn't make you jealous.

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 11:19

choco not being a smart ass, but you do an awesome job of question dodging by side swiping and sniping.

CertainlyChoco · 31/03/2018 11:20

I'm done as well. Cady will still engage until past midnight today if I keep going.

chicken2015 · 31/03/2018 11:21

I was argue that the lifestyle u are saying people are jelous of isnt a real lifestyle as the instagrammers are not paying for or getting paid to promote them they are not showing their followers products they use and buy in their life. I have issues with the realness of Instagram. Using breakfast cereal you are not sitting down with your family to eat a breakfast cereal that you all do regularly, you decided to take a (fake) photo of u sittting down because that breakfast cereal wanted to advertise it and used u because they can get their product out to large coverage. Nothing authentic.

Helipad · 31/03/2018 11:33

Finding the instamums and dads ridiculous isn't always jealousy. We can afford our own luxury holiday and DH's company use to pay for a break in Caribbean/Miami every year which we accepted few times. But these came with strings attached and you had to participate to shared functions, meet 50 other employees for drinks before dinner etc. Whilst we were grateful for the "free" holiday, it's not something I want to do again.

chicken2015 · 31/03/2018 11:34

Its the sneakyness of the ads like they try and portray a 'i love using this product ' when actually they didnt know about it before the compnay got in touch with them and as soon as next product is being flogged they will never thibk about it again. And its ok for the followers who are clued up on this as they can scroll past like you would fast forward adverts on tv, and the sneakyness is in best intrest of blogger and product as soon as people scroll past and doesnt engage they wont be worth flogging anything, i say thr quicker the best. Also what if a blogger think product is awful they wouldnt say that it would just be a lie and im sure that happens as lot!

Helipad · 31/03/2018 11:34

I just realised my previous post made the company holidays look like MLM thing! It wasn't, just a regular American company in financial industry.

chicken2015 · 31/03/2018 11:42

Can i point out that this a instagramm blogger whether mum or not so not singling out mums

caperberries · 31/03/2018 11:47

I can assure you, I’m baffled, not jealous.

Why would anyone be jealous of FOD? Confused

Goldmonday · 31/03/2018 12:04

Cady just go away. If we want a space to bitch and discuss and be "jealous" as you put it then just let us be.

Take some of your own advice, if you don't like what we are saying then don't read the thread.

Stellastartsitall · 31/03/2018 12:13

I think we ought to hold businesses to account for their "gifting" clearly they are abusing the rules by not taking responsibility for the fact that is was gifted in return for a plug or feature. They just leave the blogger to take the backlash

What? Shan't. Ner. Grin
Fucks sake. You in one very eloquently put post have summed up exactly what is wrong with this thread.
It's not about wanting to know transparency of ads/concern for child welfare at all, is it?
You just want a vehicle to be a bitch. Well, some of us want to have a debate.

Stellastartsitall · 31/03/2018 12:17

Meow. Can we keep it catty though?

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 12:19

Take some of your own advice, if you don't like what we are saying then don't read the thread.

I do like the thread, if you notice we've been discussing the points raised as you're all so worried about the children, and the transparency of ads.
I'm not the one trying to derail.
Five year olds saying "go away, cos we wanna be meeen and you're spoiling our fun" are the derailers.

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 12:33

Also what if a blogger think product is awful they wouldnt say that it would just be a lie and im sure that happens as lot!

Yeah, I can see your point there. If you were to get a product to write about and review, you'd probably feel that you had to write a positive review.
I don't think it'd be sensible to do that though,as you say it'd be a false one or one they felt they had to positively write up even though thinking it's rubbish. Smile

Stellastartsitall · 31/03/2018 12:43

This is why I want gifts declared as ads.
