Aibu to ask about your 30th birthdays?
Im going on a big holiday which were saying is for my 30th but that's not for 5 months after due to the event i want to see (without being too outting!)
But im wanting to still make my 30th special as i had a miserable 21st and 18th. Wondering whether you had any special gifts etc? I have a spare few hundred coming around that time so considering a special item of jewllery or something.
So if you wouldn't mind please share your 30ths
Thanks

We went on a mini break to Paris. It was amazing. My overriding memory of it is a very touristy river cruise and watching the sky turn black over Notre Dame as a thunderstorm approached. Loved it.

For my 40th we went on another mini break to a country spa hotel near Bath. Blissful.

BillyAndTheSillies · 30/03/2018 13:41

My 30th is coming up in a few months. DH is planning something. He has suggested I leave the house early doors and spend the day getting my hair, nails and eyelash extensions done. Maybe get a make up artist and be home for 8pm.

It's either a party or going out for dinner. Love a surprise!

wendz86 · 30/03/2018 14:02

I had a work night out which was fun . Few drinks at a cocktail bar after a nice lunch . Went out to sky gardens on my actual birthday in London and for a family meal . Would have been lovely but I was a bit hungover ... then next day went on a spa trip overnight with two friends which was lovely . Then had another night out with other friends . Had a great few days !

I can't really remember TBH. I'm sure it was on a river or by a lake because that's where all my significant birthdays have been spent. That's all I've got...

MrsLaurac · 30/03/2018 14:11

I'm so sorry some of you had such sadness on your birthdays I truly hope your next milestone is so much happier for you.
Sounds like some of you had so lovely birthdays :-)

I went to a weekend long music festival with DH and a group of friends. They suprised me with a cake and lunch at a cool diner place. I spent the weekend drinking southern comfort and sprite out of cocktail jug. It was bloody amazing.

FusRoDah · 30/03/2018 14:26

DP got us tickets to see the Book of Mormon in London, then we had a lovely dinner Grin

PNgirl · 30/03/2018 14:31

We got up at 5.30 and drove up to Alton Towers. DH booked 2 days and 2 nights in the hotel. There is a fantastic restaurant a few miles away so we ate there twice. It was a weekday so really quiet. It was awesome!

goose1964 · 30/03/2018 15:14

I was nearly 6 months pregnant with 2 toddlers so it was just another birthday.

WashingMatilda · 30/03/2018 15:20

DP threw me a massive surprise party with a load of my family and friends. They had
all clubbed together to get me a massive gift voucher for MAC makeup because I'm a vain twat

I stilk well up a bit thinking about it.

Happy birthday!! Flowers

My bday is the week after Xmas so I’m wary that nobody has much money/a bit worn out from Xmas so can’t always do anything big or expensive, and I don’t like putting people under pressure.

So I booked an area in a pub for drinks with friends and family, it wasn’t very chilled - ‘I’ll be here from X time, feel free to come when you like’ etc, some people stayed the whole time, others have one and left, some came late...it was just really relaxed and nice to have all my favourite people together. People could spend a few £ or a bit more if they wanted. I had a lovely time and it was a great way to see in my 30s!

Sparklesocks · 30/03/2018 15:22

*was very not wasn’t!!

Chocolate1984 · 30/03/2018 15:27

Long weekend in London in fancy 5 star hotel. Ate loads of cake & dinner in The Ivy.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 30/03/2018 15:33

Went to a shit rainy festival and then ate burgers. With my family, who really all looked like they didn't want to be there at all. XH had not long fucked off with OW and I had been in hospital not long before. Didn't get any presents because nobody knew what to get me, apparently. It was awful and I felt so let down. Not at the presents/activity particularly, but at the company during a very hard time for me.

AnneProtheroe · 30/03/2018 15:37

My family took me out for lunch then after they had gone home I felt a bit down, (now) ex asked me what was up, I started crying, he said ffs and went to the pub. Sad

Mia1415 · 30/03/2018 15:39

I spent the day giving evidence in an employment tribunal!

BestIsWest · 30/03/2018 15:43

DD was 8 weeks old, it was Easter and everyone bought me chocolate. Boxes of it.

Mightymucks · 30/03/2018 15:47

Went to Berlin with DH which was amazing.

It’s my 40th this year, have kids now so quieter. Oysters and champagne then a show in London plus a kid free night at a hotel. Not fussed about presents, prefer to spend money on doing things instead.

mumontherun14 · 30/03/2018 16:11

For my 30th I had a wee party in a pub with family & friends. DS was 3 and DD was 5 months so we booked a room and stayed overnight after it was nice. I bought myself 2 pairs of LK Bennet shoes that I'd had my eye on. For my 40th we had a wee party again and a few friends and I who are all 40 this year went abroad for a childfree few days - it was brilliant. I got a nice purse & a necklace as gifts. I've learned over the years not to always wait for the family to do anything as my mum is ill and DH tries his best but is often working so if I want to do something nice Ill organise/book it myself and they are always glad to join in xxx

Mehmehmeh19 · 30/03/2018 16:22

My 30th I went away for the night with DP we drank and we danced I loved it.

Can't remember any gifts and it wasn't that long ago

Wishfulmakeupping · 30/03/2018 16:25

Another one who was pregnant so just went for a family meal

phoenix1973 · 30/03/2018 16:30

We went to a nice local restaurant for dinner which was great.
Then returned to my Mums for drinks.......and a surprise stripper who was Minging, hairless with a noodle for a t̤̮w̤̮i̤̮n̤̮k̤̮i̤̮e̤̮🍆. Dressed as a policeman whilst playing the Sex Pistols.😂😂
The worst part was all this happened in front of my 11 year old step-sister.
Cringe.

Evelynismycatsformerspyname · 30/03/2018 16:36

I was also pregnant - we went out for dinner and the waitress totally messed the order up and I cried Blush I think I've only cried in public as an adult while pregnant, I'm not a crier! But I was 6 months pregnant and hungry!

I had 6 hours of A level exams (2 essay subjects) on my 18th birthday, and another exam the following day, so did nothing, and same in my 21st - 2nd year at uni but split finals so exams which "counted" pretty heavily. I had GCSE exams on my 16th birthday too...

Luckily I'm not particularly bothered about adult birthdays and do tend to see them as really only a big deal for kids!

mamaduckbone · 30/03/2018 16:41

I was pregnant with ds1 on my 30th - had a family barbecue at home on the actual day and dh took me to Paris a few weeks before and bought me a very lovely handbag which I still use - last blowout before kids. My 40th was a disaster but my 30th was lovely.

IAmMumWho · 30/03/2018 16:43

I had a party family and close friends. Nothing too big
