Aibu to ask about your 30th birthdays?
Im going on a big holiday which were saying is for my 30th but that's not for 5 months after due to the event i want to see (without being too outting!)
But im wanting to still make my 30th special as i had a miserable 21st and 18th. Wondering whether you had any special gifts etc? I have a spare few hundred coming around that time so considering a special item of jewllery or something.
So if you wouldn't mind please share your 30ths
Thanks

I’m no inspiration. Went away for the week - ds got an ear infection and dd got a chest infection and it rained constantly.

Strawberrylaceaddict · 30/03/2018 11:12

My 30th is coming up (Christmas time) and we’ve booked a holiday to Dominican Republic with the kids. I’m not a big party kind of person so that would be for the benefit of everyone else so very much looking forward to spending my birthday on the beach!

Thistles24 · 30/03/2018 11:12

We had a wee party at home, I got new ghd's, gazelle trainers... and a puppy😁 One of the best days EVER!!

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 30/03/2018 11:14

Went to Marrakech for my 30th, was amazing.

Devilishpyjamas · 30/03/2018 11:18

Nothing. Bought a dog and learned to surf for turning 40. Approaching 50 I am learning to draw/paint (have always been completely hopeless).

I like setting challenges for significant birthdays

lifechangesforever · 30/03/2018 11:21

My due date is 3 days after my 30th birthday so who knows what the situation will be, I can't plan anything so will just be playing it by ear.

If not, I would have probably have had a get together of friends and family - hired a room in a restaurant or something like that (not a full blown party though - just good food and WINE).

We are going to Florida in November so I'm just going to pretend that's my birthday Grin

I had a big themed bash in a private area of a bar. As I was still doing competitive sports at the time, I happened to be post-competition on the day and was falling asleep 2h after the start of the party...

I didn't get myself a present but got some special gifts from friends and family.

TheReins · 30/03/2018 11:21

I had a "back to childhood" party to try and recapture my lost youth lol.
On the actual day of my birthday, DH took me shopping and out for lunch and a few drinks then organsed another small surprise party for just family and they had all chipped in for amazing present.

ToriRay · 30/03/2018 11:24

Had a surprise brunch at my mums house with my family. They bought me a lovely watch, but best of all made a DVD of all my photos through the ages with a soundtrack of my fave music. It was lovely and special. Dinner and drinks with mates on another night!

I was single when I turned 30 and living with housemates. We had a big house party for my 30th, it was awesome. I don't remember getting any particularly special presents.... I think I got costume jewellery, picture frames, toiletries, that sort of thing. My parents gave me their old computer printer (they weren't being mean - I said I wanted one) but I could never get it working and the ink leaked everywhere!

FinallyHere · 30/03/2018 11:25

Day off, visited solicitor to exchange contracts on my first, all by my self house purchase.

Pennies were tight, but having my own front door was bliss.

Heatherjayne1972 · 30/03/2018 11:26

I had a four month old at the time
My birthday was pretty much ignored by everyone
Including by the ( now ex) husband at the time

skippykips · 30/03/2018 11:29

I got broken into on my 21st bday. I told DP my 30th was going to be big! Having 2 children and 6 months pregnant I couldn't do lots, so I planned a big mea out with friends and family. My beautiful Dsis who I see twice a year made the train journey to see me.
Little did I know DP had been secretly scheming and planning to wake me up on my Bday with a beautiful video to propose to me.
So my 30th I spent in tears. I was too emotional to even say yes. I think I just hugged him and managed to tell him for months I knew he was being secretive and I genuinely thought he was cheating but couldn't find evidence!
Oh I had a beautiful cake too he made.

MilfordFound · 30/03/2018 11:33

My 30th was my first birthday after my dad died very suddenly. I didn't feel like celebrating a 'milestone' birthday. I can't remember it at all, so I've no idea what I did! Probably not very much.

raindropsandsunshine · 30/03/2018 11:36

We just went out for a nice dinner.

elliejjtiny · 30/03/2018 11:37

I had norovirus on my 30th but I celebrated the week before with a meal out and cocktails.

Allthebestnamesareused · 30/03/2018 11:40

Left home at 17 so no 18th or 21st and no 30th. (Had a 2 year pld, worked fukm tine and was studying too - not much money and different priorities!) Went to New York for my 40th and had a massive party for my 50th, lack the sit down do with dancing and nice handbag as a present.

Do what you fancy doing within your means.

Allthebestnamesareused · 30/03/2018 11:42

What has my phone done to my post. Bloody auto uncorrect

SoozC · 30/03/2018 11:46

I had a party that was a bit of a disappointment as some people didn't RSVP and I sent out emails explaining the date at least 6 months in advance but my own brother and his family decided they couldn't come about two weeks before. In some respects it was brilliant and I did have people who travelled for it but so many of my friends didn't at last minute I wish I'd never had it. I'm not organising any more parties for myself again, too much stress.

Crowd · 30/03/2018 11:53

Got married on a whim.

It didn't last.

GrockleBocs · 30/03/2018 11:57

A group of went away for the weekend and had a lovely time. Lots of fantastic memories and it was my best ever birthday do.

sashh · 30/03/2018 12:46

Spent the day on a motorbike in Western Australia, then went for dinner with family.

auditqueen · 30/03/2018 13:04

Spent the night before clearing up dog vomit from my very sick puppy so was wrecked and looked like shit when I got to the vets for an early morning emergency appt. The vet was tall, blonde and totally hot and gorgeous and I was a vomit smelling emotional mess - and to my immense surprise he asked me out to dinner ShockGrinGrin. We got engaged on my 40th and it's a long running joke that we'll probably not get around to marrying until my 50th. He's still tall and blonde and gorgeous and I'm still a mess.

To complete the happy ending, the dog made a full recovery and lasted many more years before passing away peacefully last year at the grand old age of 17.

Mammyloveswine · 30/03/2018 13:20

I had my hair and make up done, stayed in a fancy city centre apartment and went out with the girls! Had a ball! The day after, went out for Sunday lunch with my husband and one year old. Found out the day after that we had an extra little bean on my night out and i was actually pregnant with my little surprise... luckily only just! I felt very guilty but he's here now and absolutely perfect!

HeedMove · 30/03/2018 13:27

My dad paid for flights abroad for myself children and husband. We all including my siblings and their families went abroad over m6 birthday. My husband bought me a designer bag, my brother and has wife bought me designer shoes and I spent the cash I got on myself instead of bills as usual or the kids. On my birthday we all went out for dinner that night then me, my husband, brother and his wife went out and my dad and stemum took all the kids back to hotel. I do feel really lucky as my birthdays are generally shite.
