Tell me your creepiest story

I was reading an article on Facebook the other day about children saying creepy things to their parents in relation to a 'past life' that they had remembered.
I'm not sure how much I believe if this but they're fun to read so I'd like to know your creepiest stories that made your hairs stand up and sent shivers down your spine at the time. Just for the sake of it Smile

I'll start. I was bathing 2 of my children (aged 3&4 at the time) and I just popped into my bedroom next door to grab their towels. All of a sudden I heard screaming so I ran back in and you three year old was standing up begging me to get her out (this was unusual as she usually hates getting out the bath and wants to stay in longer) my 4 year old then said "she's scared" when I asked what she was scared of he pointed to the window and said "that man out there..... he looks very scarey" Confused

I've read a few creepy things other Mumsnetters have told on some of the paranormal threads. I love reading them - some stories are fascinating.
My 4yo has never said anything creepy or paranormal, but as a baby he used to look around above him as if something I couldn't see was making him talk a lot. He would follow something around the room with his eyes and become very vocal (more vocal than he would be with anyone) - then he would burst into tears (and he wasn't a baby who cried much). That used to make me wonder.
I've had a weird experience when I was younger. I must have been about 14 and I woke up around 3am bolt upright in bed with my right arm outstretched in front of me as if someone had pulled me up. As soon as I woke up, I felt "it" let go. I was so terrified I lay awake under my covers until the sun had risen. At the time I was very much into the paranormal and found interesting. I felt like I had opened a "door" to something and promptly stopped reading about paranormal stuff.

HeartStrings · 29/03/2018 21:25

Wow that's creepy. I think I'd have stopped reading about paranormal stuff too if that have happened to me

My son used to talk about his island that he used to live on. He was only two but he described it, and his life there in great detail.
He found it again, a few years before he died. I hope he is happy wherever he is now.

I love these threads!

Stargazer1980 · 29/03/2018 21:41

Similar experience to PositiveProton although I now understand it to be sleep paralysis.
I woke up being pulled through the mattress by a bright light. I was fighting the bright light but was convinced I was dying afterwards! It was terrifying!!
I have since had many experiences when I have “woken up” to people sitting on me, faces at windows etc. I think all part of the same sleep paralysis thing.

DonkeyPunch88 · 29/03/2018 21:42

I know these type of threads get a lot of stick but I love a good woo thread so I'll be shamelessly placemarking Smile

My DD used to talk about 'the lady' in her room when she was 2/3. I convinced myself there was a knot of wood on her cot bed that looked a bit like the face of an old lady.

Purplerain101 · 29/03/2018 21:44

I once went downstairs at about 3am in the pitch black for a glass of water when I was staying at my mum and dad’s house. I was looking out the kitchen window and there was a scary looking man just staring over the wall at me from the road about 3metres away. I’ve never crapped myself so much in my life.
2 weeks later my niece (who was 4 at the time) was staying over with them and said she saw a man from her bedroom window staring at the house for ages. She knew nothing about it happening to me.
My parents ended up getting a security camera type system installed but whoever he was never came back.

I have a few

Once I was working in a hospital and I saw a reflection of an old lady in a metal teapot and then the sink started to rumble. I was terrified. One the same day I was cleaning a bathroom and I felt breath on my neck and then ear. I was alone.

When I worked in a care home I heard/seen a few things.

I was taking a client to her room as as we closed the door we seen a dark shadow moving past. She said to me to wait for the nun to come in.

Another night I had to answer a women's buzzer and she said she could hear children in her room. Before the home was a care home it was an orphanage.

I used to work on the top floor I used to hear foot steps walking towards me and I would go to see who it was and know one was there.

Since we got the kitten I've been seeing orbs in photos and the kitten appears to be watching them as well. The day after seeing the orbs I felt a tap on my shoulder. I was the only person in my house at the time. The other night I woke up and the kitten was in my lap starting at something I followed her gaze and I looked like something was standing in the door way to my living room. It was the shape of a person but I could only see the outline and it was white and blurry. At first it looked like the door was closed but when morning came the door was wide open as I always leave it.

Here's a picture of the orb.

Also, I was once in a restaurant where a little girl kept pointing to the corner saying 'who's that man mummy?' but her Mum just ignored her. I thought it was a bit weird, but never mentioned it to anyone, a few weeks later I was told that the restaurant was haunted and the ghost was supposed to sit in that corner.

Topaz89 · 29/03/2018 21:48

Purplerain 😧 That's scary!

Angie169 · 29/03/2018 21:48

Many years ago when I was about 9 we owed a x lab dog , she was always a bit aloof , never one for looking for attention but one day she stood at the foot of our stairs snarling in a very deep voice , some thing she had never done before, she rarely even barked and for the next two days she refused to go upstairs and even snapped at me when i tried to pull her up to my bed room where she always slept, during this time she would not she leave my older brothers side .
but after two days had passed she want back to her normal self .

Babipotjam · 29/03/2018 21:49

I have one where I wet myself as a 4 year old. We were taken into the Victorian school house to be changed.

Whilst I was being changed I spotted a man watching me in old clothes. As in historical clothes.

I asked why was a man watching me.
When the assistant changing me said there was nobody there.

blueskypink · 29/03/2018 21:54

Endofthelinefinally - that's so sad ThanksThanksThanksThanksThanks

ReanimatedSGB · 29/03/2018 21:56

OK, this was an episode of sleep paralysis, I think but I had a nightmare to the effect that there was something in the room and it was hiding under the bed. I 'woke up', wriggled, stretched my arm out over the side of the bed and something grabbed my fingers.
