Chop off the toes

Every single day there is wailing about sock lumps..sock bumps.
I'm being driven to distraction.
Ds 5 will not put his shoes on for school without full meltdown.
I get angry. He's upset.
I have no clue what to do except cut the toes out.
Seamless socks are unable to be used because of the strict uniform requirements, I've been looking for seamless socks in the same style but can't find any.
Is there any diy options for a home made alteration before I lose my mind completely?

Those sports socks are horrible to wear for anyone. We used to wear our normal socks under ours and still found them sweaty.

A good haberdashery/fabric shop/ebay might sell you some piping in the right colours that you could attach to long white seamless socks. Sewing socks together is difficult enough at the best of times let alone when no lumps are acceptable. Do talk to the school about reasonable adjustments too.

I am so thankful our school has a solid dose of common sense round uniform.

These say that don't have a toe seam https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B079P1MWRN/ref=mpssa1111aa_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1522329576&sr=8-11&keywords=seamless+toe+socks+white+with+black+stripe
But they may be too big

Second the ankle warmer idea. Sew a piece of elastic to the cut edge to make a sort of stirrup sock so they stay in place. If you don't have a sewing machine you could use some super glue to stop it fraying. (Zig zag stitch or sew on more elastic if you do have a machine.)

What about buying plain white seam free socks, and then something like these iron ons cut to size?
