I got into a habit of using my mac and at £23 a bottle i can't afford to use it everyday! What foundations do you use?

@oliivander84 yep I think 120 is the shade for me too, but it was out of stock for a long time. I bought 110 and it looks like the base for a clown's make up on my face. No amount of "warming it up" works - and it's not even the palest shade in the range! Impressive but pricey mistake.

Mac studio sculpt is the most gorgeous foundation... I know you said Mac but one tube lasts me months, I would say 6 months at least, and I use it every day.

I went to one of the outlet places about 8 months ago and found Estee Lauder's Re Nutriv Foundation for £20. I bought it as it was actually the perfect shade for me. Stunned to find it retailed for about £70. Never found it in there again sadly and there is no way I'm spending that on a foundation, but it is very very good.

I use Bare Minerals illuminating foundation serum and it’s £28 so pretty pricey, I read that women in their 30s, ie me, should use illuminating foundation and I’ve found BMs one to be great for this, I also use the brush with it, it’s far easier putting it on this way. I am dying to try Armani’s luminous silk foundation, although this is closer to £40!

Scotschic · 29/03/2018 11:40

I’m surprised at the amount of posters that like Rimmel, I think all their products are crap and foundation doesn’t last at all, even their nail polishes are crap imo. When it comes to foundation then you should spend at least £20, everything else can be cheap makeup wise but not foundation:)

Scotschic · 29/03/2018 11:48

Dying to try Estee Lauders Double Wear as I have heard hundreds of women, including posters on here, saying how fab it is.

My skin type is normal to combination, is ELDW ok for my skin type?

Snowmagedon · 29/03/2018 13:12

Primark double wear.. Is it obvious.. How do I know what I'm buying

Bubba1234 · 29/03/2018 13:20

Armani silk I love it.
I ran out so I’m using inglot foundation atm it’s not bad I think il try nars next.

sexnotgender · 29/03/2018 13:21

Clinique even better glow, can't recommend it highly enough.

wasthataburp · 29/03/2018 14:11

estee lauder double wear and then i use mac studio fix over my forehead and on top of the doublewear on my nose lol

TimesNewRoman · 29/03/2018 14:15

Revlon Colorstay.
Have tried loads from Rimmel to Chanel. Revlon Colorstay is my all time fav and old faithful. Great coverage, long lasting, stays matte, £12. Available in normal-dry or combination-oily.

Whizbang · 29/03/2018 16:42

Another bare minerals fan here...the illuminating primer then the Matt powder. I find it gives good coverage but doesn’t get all claggy in my ever increasing wrinkles like some liquid foundations.

Also YSL Touche Éclat for under eye shadows. This is a bit pricey but lasts ages and is a miracle worker.

Scotschic · 29/03/2018 22:17

I find that I don’t need the BM primer, I bought it to go under my foundation & it’s the illuminating one too but it feels oily on my face, I have read somewhere that primer doesn’t need to be used, I really look after my skin and constantly moisturise which is why I think I don’t need the primer, primer only came out a few years ago and so we coped without it for long enough.

Although the very first time I tried the BM foundation, I had put Laura Mercier foundation primer on first & omg I was glowing, I had that lovely dewy effect going on which is what I love, I looked like I had a candle reflecting off of my face and I got lots of compliments, Laura Mercier is expensive but I love it!

You only need experience foundation and the rest can be cheap.

Btw I would love to look in the makeup bag of the person who collects makeup, I’d be like a wee girl in a toy shop, makeup excites me! I also love packaging, anyone else?! Benefit has the best packaging by far.

Scotschic · 29/03/2018 22:18

Expensive foundation, not experienced foundation :))
