I got into a habit of using my mac and at £23 a bottle i can't afford to use it everyday! What foundations do you use?

Joystir no offence but since this thread is about wearing make up and you appear to be anti make up, why are you continuing to comment?

There's nothing wrong with collecting make up. Collecting most things as a hobby brings joy to the collector and there are plenty of things far weirder than make up to collect.

bellsbuss · 28/03/2018 23:23

Maybelline mousse as a base then mac on top, gives a lovely flawless finish

BlondeB83 · 28/03/2018 23:28

I use MAC also, I went through the same dilemma as you but quickly went back to my MAC one!! A good foundation is worth the money!

Fozzleyplum · 28/03/2018 23:31

Clarins Skin Illusion. They do a shade which is a perfect colour match for my skin so I can get away with using it only on the centre of my face and blending out so there's none at all at the edges. It gives the impression of unmade up flawless skin.

Skarossinkplunger · 28/03/2018 23:34

I’d written a very serious response to Joystir but then I read this and couldn’t have said it better myself

*I think of hobbies as things you do like cycling, bee keeping, knitting, sky diving, swimming, walking, reading, painting, running marathons, archery, darts, bowls. Collecting make up??????????

Also, judging people who wear makeup.*

Ollivander84 · 28/03/2018 23:35

I have a lot of makeup but my favourite is dollish veil vita bb cream in purple. Pale enough for my skin (I'm NW10/porcelain), insane coverage for a BB cream and never looks caked or flaky on my dry patches

For more coverage I like Tarte shape tape hydrating, makeup forever HD, or L'Oréal infallible stay fresh

I also collect makeup... Grin

Elend · 28/03/2018 23:37

I've got very oily, very pale, very sensitive skin... it's a bloody nightmare. I use double wear light for work as it's the only thing that lasts (with powder), but the lightest shade is still too dark. Got the newest Bobbi Brown in Alabaster which is lovely but doesn't hold up for a 10+ hour day. Ordered some revlon colourstay the other day, in the palest shade, and am crossing my fingers.

Ollivander84 · 28/03/2018 23:39

Elend - I've heard good things about the Fenty foundation for oily skin, and they do some good pale shades

Fosterdog123 · 28/03/2018 23:40

The new loreal stick foundation. I never touch my EL double wear since buying this.

Elend · 28/03/2018 23:45

@Ollivander84 I actually bought the fenty online.... and the shade I guessed was too pale! I was both impressed and a little pissed off with that lol I keep meaning to try it and see how it holds up, in case I should order the next shade up, but I've not managed to get a day where I'll not be seeing anyone all day. Wore it once and my sister came round for lunch and laughed so much I had to go wash my face straight away 😂

Mcdreary · 29/03/2018 00:29

I’ve tried so many combos of skincare/ moisturisers and primers (collector too) with double wear and it’s just so yuk. I might give it one more go just to see wtf is going on with it on me. I also use a beauty blender.

Confused
Ollivander84 · 29/03/2018 00:29

Too pale?! Shock I've heard these rumours but I've never met one too pale for my walking dead skin Grin
I did want to try it and the shade match said 120 I think, but I can get dry patches

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 29/03/2018 00:39

@joystir59 I won't take offence to your post because it's ridiculous. People collect things as a hobby all the time. Why should make up be any different? My DH plays darts as a hobby and he gets it so there you go.

I have a major weakness for Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes so when I say collect that's what most of my collection is based on. But really I just love Make Up although most of my days are spent with a make up free face right now because I'm 32 weeks pregnant and still being sick several times a day and don't have the energy.

LoveManyTrustfew · 29/03/2018 00:53

I used Clarins, for 26 years, I am at a stage in my life where money is not an issue, not rich but not nickel and diming on small stuff...

On the phone to my sister and I said I need to nip to( next biggest town )to pick up some foundation, it was £34 a bottle and I commented that didn't last very long.

She replied.... been meaning to text you RImmel Wake Me Up (true ivory) is an exact match for us, try it, I did and reader I have saved a small bloody fortune with no interruption in service , except to Clarins profits.

Rimmel is £9 a bottle.

DoraMilaje · 29/03/2018 04:45

Fenty Beauty, I swear by it! I've had mine for about 6 months and it's still going strong!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 29/03/2018 06:04

Maybelline mousse is the best foundation I have ever found. And it's about £6 a bottle. Non-greasy, covers well, I love it.

Fintress · 29/03/2018 06:10

Boots no 7 lift and laminate
Grin Grin

I use the No 7 BB cream which is good but I don't need much coverage. On the other hand I need a good concealer for under eye shadows!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 29/03/2018 08:01

Thank you for this thread - I've just gone through it making notes! I've worn No 7 Stay Perfect in a compact form in Wheat for years and years, and found out last week that it's being discontinued. They're doing a "lighter coverage" version that apparently you can build up to the old version, but I don't want that from a) time and b) cost perspective.

TaytoAllDay · 29/03/2018 08:05

@trumpdump Ps My Perfect Colour - 6quid.

Beautiful finish & just like Estee double wear! I have worn Mac for years, but I got bored so I tried Double wear, unbelievable - so the Primark dupe is a most cost efficient version. Definitely try it.

Make Up Forever HD Stick - not as pricey as Mac/Estee etc

Drugstore brands with lovely finishes are :

24hour stay Revlon
25hour stay Rimmel
LA Girl Pro Coverage ** fave

Also!! Concealer-wise Maybeline New York Instant Age Rewind Treatment concealer - this is dreamy!! you could use a light coverage foundation with this and it would make the foundation look unbelievable

TaytoAllDay · 29/03/2018 08:11

If you're trying to save I reckon don't go with ones like Fenty/Huda/Estee/Urban Decay .. PLUS some of these are SO heavy and I love a good coverage.. Like putting paste on your face

Get a Beauty Blender as well ! NYX have one that is cheaper than the origial beauty blender and works just as well.

I love make up Flowers

I'm an MUA, so I have a tendency to try most foundations.

What skin type are you?

SusanneLinder · 29/03/2018 08:23

I used to use Clinique Even Better, but they have changed the sodding colours and I hate the new ones. Not a fan of ELDW...even with moisturising and primer, its too dry for me.
Heard the Primark knock off version is very greasy. ( similar bottle to ELDW).
Just ordered the Ordinary Foundation.
Also used the Maybelline one in the square bottle

chapthedoor · 29/03/2018 08:28

Rimmel Wake Me Up. It's brilliant, not too heavy and gives a nice glow even with powder on top. It's about £7 or always on offer in boots/Superdrug

Vixnixtrix1981 · 29/03/2018 08:41

ExploryRory do you have a picture of the Aldi stuff? I use Lancome at the moment, and it is expensive so am willing to give Aldi's a try. I use their face stuff already but have never seen make up there :)

stellarfox · 29/03/2018 08:55

I’m using no 7 stay perfect at the moment which I like but it’s slightly too light which is annoying! The best ones I’ve used are Chanel vitalumiere Aqua, Rimmel wake me up and Laura mercier tinted moisturiser.

PodgeBod · 29/03/2018 09:03

I use Benefit Oxygen Wow but it's more pricey I think it's £29 a bottle but it does wonders for my dry skin. Unfortunately it has a very small shade range and it's slightly pale for me. Max Factor 3 in 1 is also great and I will probably buy that again once my Benefit is gone. I have tried the Shape Tape moisturising foundation and I really liked it but I was just a sample and I can't justify the cost right now.
