I've had a major diet overhaul, I'm trying to change how I think about myself and food & I'm working out 7 times a week, getting up at 5:30 & then going again after work twice/3 times a week.
The end of this week will make it a month but so far I've only lost around 10lbs- which is yet to show physically.
I thought the complete 180 in my lifestyle would bring about drastic results.

I know I have to be consistent but It's getting me down just a little bit and I'm finding myself googling or youtubing weight loss tips at every chance!

To those who have gone through the weight loss process how long did it take you before you saw tangible results?

I'm 5'2 & starting weight was around 210lbs fyi

Gosh looking at that actually makes me feel sick that I've got about 10x that fat in my body. But also glad that I'm working towards losing it.

Ok so I took a pps advice this morning and cut my 4 egg breakfast down to 2. I was defo overeating. I cut out the cheese also and still feel full. Let's see how far this takes me till i'm hungry again.

Salad before main course can help with digestion and feeling full. I enjoy a big handful of rocket or chopped iceberg lettuce with finely sliced cucumber with or before I eat meat. I like complex carbs for my final food in the evening, as it helps me relax. Some ppl suggest apples first thing in the morning and hot fresh lemon to cleanse the system. Each to his/her own :-))

It's just my opinion, but I would find that level of exercise unsustainable eventually. Once you feel fitter, can you exchange some gym work for walking instead of driving, for instance?

All the best with your journey!

rach01pink · 29/03/2018 10:04

If you could physically see 10lbs you wouldn't say 'only' that's a huge amount. Be careful you don't get burnouts as you're doing a lot... Slowly and steadily is the way to lose weight and sustain it....

Archietheinventor · 29/03/2018 10:16

Don’t listen to people telling you 4 eggs is too many. Your weight loss plan is clearly working brilliantly - I think your diet looks great. Also you are NOT over training - the only people that say that are people who are too lazy to do it themselves. I’ve worked in the fitness industry nearly 20 years so I know what I am talking about! 7 hours a week is by no means too much - most people would fare far better for doing the same, especially if the rest of your day is fairly sedentary. Most of my friends are runners & trialthletes who do 15-20 hours a week and are not ‘overtrained’ - they are super fit and in brilliant shape (and still manage jobs, families etc) You are doing all the right stuff, keep it going and don’t be swayed by people who feel threatened by your success & motivation.

Thanks last 3 posts.
Tidy, I've been drinking ACV with cayenne pepper and lemon morning and night.
Archie, your message has spurred me on to keep going. Thank you :)

You're doing great OP! Well done for 10lb x

TalkinPeece · 29/03/2018 17:05

lexielulu
That image is fake.
The density of muscle is around 1.2 that of fat

compare 1/2 lb of butter (one standard packs)
with 1/2 lb of steak (standard restaurant portion)

they are very similar in size

QuiteLikely5 · 29/03/2018 17:12

Op

Are you drinking enough water? It’s so important.

Also eggs, nuts, plants, meats are fine - it’s hard to overeat with them

You should check out the low carb boot camp on here too

Lovelyusername · 29/03/2018 17:32

Quick post to say that I have always found it takes six weeks for results to really show so keep on ! And report back in six weeks !

Archietheinventor · 29/03/2018 17:39

No problem! I think you are doing brilliantly - keep going and you’ll be super fit and lean in no time. Well done Smile

starrybee · 29/03/2018 18:25

10lbs in a month is great!

I've lost two stone in the last year, but it's only been the final half stone where it seems to have finally made a noticeable difference, so don't be disheartened at all. If the scales are going down then you're heading in the right direction.

greendale17 · 29/03/2018 18:28

It sounds as if you are perhaps putting too much emphasis of exercise.

^Completey agree. Your weight loss won’t be sustainable for the long term unless you address your diet

fluffiny31 · 29/03/2018 18:33

Well done op. I lost 12.5 lb in 5 weeks but I did a lot of binging and loved chocolate I cut all that out and if I wanted something sweet just ate a really small amount. I have had a couple of days not being so controlled so dreading my weigh in. Keep going. Just relax a little on the exercise.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 29/03/2018 18:46

What utter nonsense.

lattewith3shotsplease · 29/03/2018 18:52

OP,
Maybe try some of the smaller clothes on. You maybe surprised to see how they "nearly" fit.

Well done on your healthy eating plan.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 29/03/2018 18:54

That’s great !!! Just keep at it

If it could transition so it’s feels normal and like your day to day life that would help . Rather than something unusual

Also stop the constant weighing and googling Grin

Buglife · 29/03/2018 18:56

It took me to two stone loss before people noticed and I HAD to buy new clothes as opposed to just having looser ones.

Serialweightwatcher · 29/03/2018 19:03

You've done brilliantly and should be proud - it takes quite a bit over a stone usually to notice how well you're doing. Also, you're doing a lot of exercise which will mean you tone better but may not lose actual weight as such quickly if you know what I mean. Always found people had this problem when I used to go on Weightwatchers site years ago - those who did more exercise were better eating more as it came off better

Serialweightwatcher · 29/03/2018 19:04

Forgot to ask - are you measuring if you've lost inches because you probably are doing

WittyDaddyUsername · 29/03/2018 19:09

OP, for what’s its worth I think this is excellent. You have decided you wanted to change, you’ve decided how to make it happen and then you’ve made it happen. I wish more people would just get on with life like that.

What’s more is that you’ve done it in a sustainable way that you can maintain indefinitely. Stuff like a juice detox works very short term. I’m pretty sure if you went to a permanent juice detox diet you’d probably die. I’m just not convinced that a diet that can’t be sustained for the long term is particularly healthy...

As some other posters have said, I would have a look at the distribution of your calories through the day and the amount of fruit you’re eating. However, if you’re on less calories than you’re burning you will loose weight. You’ll be metabolising Fat Grin and also muscle Confused. However, that will be countered by the mix of weights and cardio that you’re doing at the gym.

From what I can tell there doesn’t seem to be a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to go about this sort of thing. There is just good and better. Anything is better than nothing.

You are doing great. You’ll have bad days and you’ll have good days. It’s a marathon not a sprint. And in 12 months you’ll look back and see just how brilliantly you’ve done.

WittyDaddyUsername · 29/03/2018 19:11

Also, muscle is more dense than fat. You can plateau but still be getting thinner, measurements once a week/fortnight/month are more worthwhile that getting in the scales.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 29/03/2018 19:15

I agree with others that this needs to be a sustainable life style and eating change.

I don't think exercising daily, getting up at 5am or whatever and downing pints of lemon and cayenne pepper is something you plan to carry on for the rest of your life is it?

The mentality of going on a "diet" and focusing on a goal weight is not helpful to maintaining that for life because it's going to be hard to keep to such a strict regime, particularly if you've been prone to binge eating in the past.

It will take longer but I'm an advocate of concentrating on how you feel, how your clothes fit, being healthy but having a little of what you fancy too and losing the guilt surrounding food.

Throw the scales away!

ballerini · 29/03/2018 19:15

You're doing great!
I'd say if you have a bad day and eat naughty food don't give up.
I also find it helpful to treat yourself every now and again to avoid giving up!

anne2000 · 29/03/2018 19:54

I spent 4-6 mon the losing 14 lbs as I was prediabetic. It is staying off! 10 lbs is excellent in the time you did it. But change of food and lifestyle rather than dieting is best. I think you could go easier on yourself and still lose. imho.
