Is staying in bed all day normal?

I have tried to be more proactive, but it always ends up being the same because there is just nothing out there in terms of activities. I have no friends, despite making so much effort to befriend people. When I have nothing to do, as in uni, work, or other essentials, I just sit on my bed all day on my laptop. I don't think this is how other people live their lives, but I have nothing and no one else. I am just so fed up of living. It feels like such a waste, especially when I am 26, but there's never anything else that is free or constructive. What do you do with your day?(weekdays and weekends)

Just come back from a two hour walk in the woods. Feel reborn!

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 25/03/2018 14:10

If I were you I'd think about a trip to your GP, It sounds like you might be depressed.

thisisthend · 25/03/2018 14:12

No. I've been through all the mental health rubbish in the past. That only made everything worse because I lost all faith in people when they sectioned me. Mental health is just societal control.

It’s not normal

You sound very depressed

“Mental Health is just societal control” makes you sound paranoid as well

thisisthend · 25/03/2018 14:16

You sound brainwashed.

What exactly do you want from this thread if you’re not going to take on board any of the comments?

Staying in bed is not normal. Neither is thinking of mental health in the way that you do, or that anyone who disagrees is brainwashed.

kaytee87 · 25/03/2018 14:20

Staying in bed all day is not normal and it takes quite a lot for a court to agree to take away your rights and 'section' you so you must have been quite disturbed.
Are you meant to be taking medication?

thisisthend · 25/03/2018 14:20

I want more useful advice than the same predictable rubbish about going to the gp, which I've done in the past and it hasn't worked.

If you had been to a mental hospital,as i have in the past, you'd understand why I see mental health the way I do. The patients had one thing in common, they refused to obey societal rules and came from deprived backgrounds. Mental illness has never been proved to exist. Only degenerative brain diseases like dementia exist.

I am closing this thread down if you are going to keep repeating the same medical discourses. BRAINWASHED SLAVES OF THE 1 PER CENT. Now go back to your slavery.

Every now and then, absolutely fine. Frequently, not so much.

On these days do you get dressed? Shower? Make meals? Do you eat in your room or do you leave your room for some periods of time?

I find, given no other plans etc I will often spend my day sat doing nothing and then kick myself about it, whether that's in bed or on the sofa. So I now push myself to get up, showered, dressed and out of the door every day, even if I only go for a quick walk. I otherwise find myself spiraling into a depression. With a history of mental illness I think you need to be proactive into not falling into that hole when you can.

Yogafailure · 25/03/2018 14:22

Aye whatever OP Hmm

MrsMotherHen · 25/03/2018 14:23

Nope not normal at all. Get out in the fresh air will do your mood the world of good.

Have you considered maybe getting a dog they are great company there is a great forum called petforums which you will met likeminded people. Also give you a reason to go out each day and you can have so much fun with them training ect

kathrynelizabeth3005 · 25/03/2018 14:23

What a strange thread...

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 25/03/2018 14:24

Slaves perhaps but is a sheep that knows it’s a sheep any less a sheep?
You should travel? Make a plan to to explore, engage with other cultures, see some beauty in the world. Pups you apply to study abroad?

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 25/03/2018 14:24

Ps staying in bed all day is fine if you’re happy with with, but you sound like you want more from life

kaytee87 · 25/03/2018 14:24

Why are you worried if it's normal to stay in bed or not then if you don't care for societal norms?

Steamcloud · 25/03/2018 14:25

Hi op, what sort of activities would you like to do, if they were available in your area?

penguinsandpanda · 25/03/2018 14:25

Could you do something active like swimming maybe a few times a week to balance out the staying in bed?

I stay in bed a lot at present since September but that's as I have felt ill since then and so I work from home (can do from bed).

Teacuphiccup · 25/03/2018 14:26

Ok so you’re not ill.

Why don’t you join a club, there’s some great beginners walking/cycling clubs for women that most councils do.

Eifla · 25/03/2018 14:26

No it is definitely not normal.

I am the same age as you. I only have a few friends as I am not a people person.

The world doesn’t owe you a living. Get out and make your own life. Go for walks, go to the gym, volunteer.

ichifanny · 25/03/2018 14:27

Jesus Christ op sounds like you don’t want to change you sound quite paranoid and unwell , it’s not normal or healthy to stay in bed on a laptop all day .

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 25/03/2018 14:27

Fine, we are all lying to you.
And you fell for it.

penguinsandpanda · 25/03/2018 14:27

Before I got ill I went into work and swimming 3 times a week, out all weekend to National Trust, cinema, trampolining, canoeing, etc.

ichifanny · 25/03/2018 14:28

There’s plenty to do that doesn’t involve rotting away in bed on a laptop and that’s not being controlled by society it’s called enjoying your life .

FML2017 · 25/03/2018 14:30

Well if you’ve been sectioned before clearly something isn’t right
