Flearidden. How odd. Fair comment.

Reallycantbebothered · 23/03/2018 22:28

The suitcases alone are about £500-£600 if you look on the website that's tagged on the IG photo....her salary as a midwife will barely cover the school fees, so I guess they've got to make hay while the sun shines...
Also bear in mind as a midwife she has NMC professional code of conduct to adhere to , so any freebies would need to be declared as well as any endorsements

MrsDc7 · 23/03/2018 22:31

What I don't understand is, if you don't like MOD or FOD... why follow them? It's not compulsory Wink if anyone follows Giovanna Fletcher and saw her story on Instagram from last night, I think we should all step back from the keyboards and be a bit nicer. Wouldn't the world be a kinder place?

Babaloo88 · 23/03/2018 22:44

I Actually appreciated clemmie’s story. I’m glad she has taken aboard what we have said and is being honest.

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 22:45

@mrsdc7 loads of people have seen that and it's out of order, but that was comments on Tom's YouTube channel that were about her size weight and looks! This is not the same.
Do you tell reviewers and critics not to be mean about films because people worked hard on them and they are probably nice people? Do you write to itv and say Simon Cowell is mean to people and we should all be kinder?
It's utterly insane. These rich people who've made themselves something by being normal are now so far out of that league that people are discussing things. Every like of their pic is helping their business. I don't begrudge them that. But they are a business, a brand. Like brand Beckham. Last year alone the profits were like £91000 someone posted as the accounts were public. That was in the first year with less followers and aside from freebies. It's an extremely lucrative business. Why wouldn't people discuss that a) initially a lot of this was hidden and b) it's essentially down to a bit of luck and 2 adorable blond toddlers. So if you want to step back from your keyboard while others make huge money off your likes I respect your decision but I see nothing wrong in having discussion.

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 22:48

Babaloo, I did too, because st the end of the day it's what people are getting upset about. What's free, what's not, what's genuine recommendation, what's just paid for, where's the truth? Well here is a free holiday I wasn't going to turn down, in exchange for 8 squares and Simon being left at home. I hope he buggers off with the older girls for the next week of Easter 😊

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 22:50

Thank you mumofkids. The other thing is, they are not the Beckhams. They have no unique talents. There are thousands of management consultants and hard working midwives. Without their kids many followers would they ever have had?

MrsDc7 · 23/03/2018 22:53

@mumofkids No, you've completely missed the point of what I was saying. Of course I don't think people shouldn't review films honestly because the actors worked hard on them. How ridiculous to suggest that. My point was about people being personal and attacking them personally. It's not something I understand because if I don't like someone I just unfollow them and get on with my life. I don't understand people who take joy in commenting on how FOD looks a lot older than 36 or that he's a wanker - I find that quite sad and a reflection of the world we live in unfortunately. I wouldn't want to be a part of that, which is why I compared it to Giovanna because it is in fact very similar

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 23:02

MrsDC7 we've been over this surely. Nobody has called anybody names in this thread. Of course it's not ok to comment on anyone's appearance.

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 23:04

And I've said before, I don't follow them, they keep springing up on my feed - because I look at mum instas? And these threads have made me go back and look at these accounts - I think there was loads of stealth selling going back years and I felt really miffed by that.

Lundi · 23/03/2018 23:08

And in other non MOD and FOD related news... MP is back with a bang!

MrsDc7 · 23/03/2018 23:10

fruitbowl my post was in response to mumofkids who replied to my previous comment. It wasn't aimed at you so there is no need for you to be exasperated in repeating what you think has already been said. I was merely making the point that if people don't like seeing things, they don't have to look... goodnight rolls eyes

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 23:24

@mrsdc7 firstly the one calling of wanker was removed and Clemmie accepted the heartfelt apology. It was not me.
Secondly saying he looks older than 36 cropped up be cause he had a load of messages saying he looked too old to be a CBeebies presenter. I certainly did not message him that. However he said his age, and actually often he does look really tired and a bit older. It's not really anything like saying someone is fat or ugly.
@fruitbowl2 completely agree they are nothing like the Beckhams I only referenced as it like together as a family they have a brand. Although I doubt the Hoopers would see that as an insult Wink

allfurcoatsandnoknickers · 23/03/2018 23:28

I've been an avid reader of the instamum/ blogger threads and agree in most part that the sheer greed and consumerism is sickening. I folllow MOD and do long for the old midwife hopper days, she does d seem more relatable back then.

I have just started following onemumsndalittlelady and her most recent post this evening was bang on point instagram.com/p/Bgrv7yAgPvD/

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 23:41

Soz mumofkids I knew what you meant, but did you know fod called himself and MOD the beckhams of instagram in a grazia mag article.

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 23:46

@allfurcoatandnoknickers she looks good to follow 😊
I miss midwifeyhooper! It just was so different, and I felt like this nhs midwife and consultant yes had a good life but were totally relatable. And they must feel it, can you imagine normal working life to free holidays and hotels, house of your dreams, free car to use, they must pinch themselves and just thing well let's just grab it and that's understandable. But just try not to lose yourself. And I guess lots of the new followers, follow this new business and love it and don't mind. The commuting, the hecticness, the lack of seeing your youngest children, the here there and everywhere just doesn't appeal to me, but then I'm older and have kids that are older and just grew so fast. Greed and consumerism is vile but it does seem part of that world.

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 23:46

Correction 'primark beckhams' www.pressreader.com/uk/grazia-uk/20160816/283016874108244

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 23:47

@fruitbowl2 good god no! Had no idea!! I was trying not to use them but couldn't think of a family to mention Confused

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 23:50

Interestingly not a mention of flex appeal from Anna in the article.....

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 23:53

It says Matt says '... so I think it was papa pukka!!
Oh my god I'm crushed though. I thought they bought those Stokke chairs - I'm such a twit!!

Badmotherpukka · 23/03/2018 23:59

@Fruitbowl2 it wasn’t actually Simon who said that, it was really awkwardly attributed to my husband, Matt (who didn’t say it and then, confusingly, the quote was stuck next to a photo of Simon and Clemmie). This is why I prefer writing and publishing my own words. It read “we’re like the Primark Beckhams”, which I agree makes for painful reading.

PavlovaPrincess · 24/03/2018 00:08

I thought they bought those Stokke chairs - I'm such a twit

Don't blame yourself. That article is from when the twins were 8 months old so it's a while ago. Mod only started disclosing gifts and ads before Xmas last year (basically due to the MN threads, I think).

Non disclosure of gifts and ads was rife on insta (and it wasn't just Mod and FOD, tbf). I really had my eyes opened on the bloggers and brands threads in S&B. It's a really interesting read, with some great points (if you haven't already read it).

Badmotherpukka · 24/03/2018 00:08

@Fruitbowl2 sorry we crossed over. The interviewer asked questions about the campaign but it wasn’t included in the final copy because I think they wanted to solely focus on the ‘selling your relationship/family online’ bit. Matt is sat next to me and definitely wants to clarify that he does not believe we are the Primark Beckhams. Now most interviews are solely focused on the campaign with instagram in the background.

Mumofkids · 24/03/2018 00:13

@badmotherpukka let's be honest, you don't really come across as any kind of Beckham, primark or otherwise. Matt's sandwiches have been inspirational and your openness snd responses genuine. Love the pukka accounts. Still amused by grandfather pukka sticking a banana in the kettle. Grin

Badmotherpukka · 24/03/2018 00:20

@Mumofkids the photos in that Grazia feature are also a bit sinister. A bit Primark House of Cards. Maybe it’s all fairly fitting considering discussions here but just know that wasn’t what we/ Simon and Clemmie said and again why we continue to upload/publish ourselves. Matt and I have been discussing how to explain what we do and it’s definitely along the lines of “a business with a social cause”. The child online safety and transparency issues are being discussed too. Have no control over my Dad and his fruit bowl.
