FleaRiddenScruffBag · 23/03/2018 19:11

Transparent, maybe. Relatable, no. I hope mod will stop playing the "just like us" card now. I really hope she is not going to monetise her older children and her sister's problems just to finance another freebie.

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 19:33

I have to be honest, I'm baffled as to why they are offered so many? And so many different companies, holidays as well as goods and hotels and clothes.
(Martinhal, Disney, the Greek villa, the cruise, additions hotel, boden, marks and Spencer, boots, renault, Dorset cereal, Miele, they did an add for those matching computers they both had-microsoft? The tennis thing) its so many brands. And whilst compared to some fairly modest accounts they have a load of followers, given a large number must be the same (following both) , is it really that influential? You look at some accounts and they literally have millions of followers. In which case you can see the ad power.
I quite like MOD saying she'd have to put up 8 squares as promotion. It's clear that will be upcoming. Interesting though as he has twice as many followers so it must've been offered to them both initially.

AdidasGirl · 23/03/2018 19:36

What about this one..
Lateysha Grace. She is a reality show person who now seems to be an 'Influencer'
She has posted a picture of a large wooden toy box with her daughter sat on top.
She doesn't say #Ad or #Gifted.
The lettering is Wonky. As soon as you see the picture you can't unsee them being wonky.
People are calling this out.And of course they are being called 'jealous' etc.
She says that she can't see the wonky letters and that as it's a small business who made this for her daughter she is happy to promote.
This is stated in reply to someone and not in the initial writing that she put with the photo.
I'm pretty sure that if she hadn't been given it as a freebie, she would of sent it back as would I of.

How is MOD swinging getting the two older girls out of school early for a week? Easter doesn’t start for another week?

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 19:48

Pink- ours are off now for two weeks Somerset/south Glos and Bristol, so perhaps other areas are. However their kids now go to a private school. She did state they don't take their kids out of school during the term.

AdidasGirl · 23/03/2018 20:03

Pink.My childs school broke up today for 3 weeks. He is in private school and we can take our children on holiday whenever we want.
If MODs are then I presume it's the same.

KittyMcKitty · 23/03/2018 20:04

MOD and FOD clearly earn very good money from IG and good on them I imagine it took a lot of planning and effort to get to where they are.

I’ve recently come to the conclusion that the secret to IG is to find the people you feel you can relate or make you smile or whatever and ignore the rest. I follow most of the usual people discussed on these type of threads but have realised that I only really like the stories of about 3 of them. DMBL40 - I like everything about her IG - her style, her dog and she makes me laugh. CLTS just seems really genuine to the point that I don’t care whether she says what’s gifted etc - she just comes across as a lovely woman who loves her family and her cats and enjoys her life and Erica Davies for similar reasons. There are others whose stories grated on me so I stopped watching them although I must confess there are a couple of bloggers who really irritate me (one because she’s so full of herself and another because she is just trying to copy someone else) and I do watch their stories from time to time just to feel cross with them - sorry I know that’s not nice Blush

I hope MOD doesn’t leave midwifery- it’s her USP and I think makes her more interesting then many others.

IG is a strange world- I still can’t really understand how Inthefrow and co basically just get flown around the world and have so much lavished on them just to be an ad for hire but it must work or the brands wouldn’t do it Confused

BitchQueen90 · 23/03/2018 20:19

pink my DS has finished school now for Easter holidays and goes back on the 9th. They're different for different counties this year.

FleaRiddenScruffBag · 23/03/2018 20:51

... and I do think her "story" was a conscious, deliberate plan to head off any criticism of her latest freebie. I don't much like her tactics. Clemmie love, I get on public transport 5 days a week to teach, I raise 3 children and, no, I don't think I am any different /better than the majority of working mothers and fathers. I would never monetise my family for a freebie because, actually, it's just not worth it. Enjoy your freebies but do spare us the sanctimonious hash tags.

AdidasGirl · 23/03/2018 21:05

Do MOD and FOD normally announce their freebie holidays "part paid for in exchange for 8 Instagram posts" holidays the day before they leave? Or do they normally do a build up to them going?

ObiJuanKenobi · 23/03/2018 21:05

We actually booked to take our twins to Disneyland Paris off the back of MoDs trip with hers! We had been thinking about it for a few months but thought it might be a nightmare at that age but saw them and decided the memories would be worth the potential logistical nightmare with toddlers and flying.

I'm not saying 1000s of people will be booking Disney because of them, and we may have decided to go for it without that, but it helped our decision.

I don't think anyone can blame them for accepting these 'ad opportunities' when their children are already posted all over the internet - they were doing it anyway (as so many people do) so I don't think anyone in that position would not! Either way, I'd love to take my kids on such diverse trips.

A trip to Disney is hardly diverse though, is it?

OP posts:
Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 21:16

Nope looks like MOD was just tagging her luggage #not an ad just thought you'd all like to buy this luggage.

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 21:19

Spot on flearidden!
Oh obi... really it's too young to be of any value, and most likely why the twins are not off to St Lucia... a week that far with toddlers is not easy and they won't remember it. Simon has said its work, but as he's said he works from home 4 days a week, it's far more likely the trio was so full on with toddlers that the sensible thing is to keep them home in their routine. And use their paid for nursery places.
Disney is hardly diverse and I have travelled with young kids quite a bit, it is far from easy.

ObiJuanKenobi · 23/03/2018 21:21

No sorry if that didn't read well, I didn't mean just a trip to Disney is diverse, but I would class family trips to Disney, St Lucia and Corfu as being diverse holidays for the kids.

When I was young we would go to one destination (mainly camping in France) several times over and didn't have much variety.

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 21:22

Kenobi - odd comparison. MOD and fod were paid by visit Florida travel company. Nothing to do with Disneyland Paris.

Mumofkids · 23/03/2018 21:23

@fruitbowl2 perhaps the agents finally tried to take opinions onboard. It's worked, the fans are out in huge numbers commenting! To be fair my irritation was use of kids and transparency. They've clearly decided this is their job and the way they are going now.

FleaRiddenScruffBag · 23/03/2018 21:40

Ok - will try again. Just wanted to express my disdain at mod's tactics to excuse a blatant freebie. I am really disquieted by the use of Instagram to silence anyone who thinks she is exploiting her children and sister for a freebie.

shesakeeper · 23/03/2018 21:44

I'd expect nothing less, tbh.

I don't follow her now because nothing about her feed or lifestyle reflects anything about my own any more. I simply can't afford to live like her.

OP posts:
Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 21:48

I agree flearidden.i wasn't disagreeing with your previous comment, I was tongue in cheek just suggesting MOD was doing another sly advert for her luggage and handbag.

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 21:53

Why was your previous comment deleted flearidden??

FleaRiddenScruffBag · 23/03/2018 22:00

I think it was because I actively said that I had no respect for MOD and her decision to use Instagram to deliberately silence any criticism of her freebies

Fruitbowl2 · 23/03/2018 22:09

Shesakeeper who does? I'm genuinely bemused by the amount they seem to spend. We are affluent, big house etc. And the stuff they seem to have spent from the posts I've looked at made me wince. I'm definitely not jealous. I know the area they live in and those jaunts to London are killers. And it is a very small part of the world. Kenties don't mince their words about DFLs (Down from London) like them. I hope they do have a nice set of local mates cos they will cause jealously and dislike for their kids locally.
