Interested to read this in the Guardian today

Using your children for monetary gain is 'grotesque' as stated below the line in this well timed Hadley Freeman article. I unfollow anyone who does that.
Also amused by HF twitter account thread where Sali Hughes commented, while out, that in 10 years time these children will start sueing their parents for exposing their lives when they were too young to consent.
Although this has already started and lawyers being lawyers this will definitely increase.
My children would hate me if I posted their lives for free stuff. I would never be so crass as to insult them in this way. It most certainly is grotesque!

Just scrolling through Instagram stories and Mrs Meldrum must have mentioned Gin about a million times and a shot of a gin glass too !

Fruitbowl2 · 24/03/2018 08:03

Apologies to FOD for the misquote then. I misread in the original magazine too. And I can see why you want to publish your own info motherpukka.

EeebyMum · 24/03/2018 09:02

I dunno where Sali Hughes stands on this, on twitter she has actively stated her dislike of instamums using their kids to sell shit, but has liked several of MPs recent instagram posts

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 24/03/2018 09:11

Those poor kids. I wouldn't do that to my DC.

Mumofkids · 24/03/2018 09:41

It's kind of tasteless. People who are that wealthy (families anyway) and can jet off and have all the luxuries don't tend to brag and show off, in fact the kids are usually protected. So this is a new breed. They have to show off and brag to get the deals and get them for free. It is unsettling with kids involved.

greengrass1234 · 24/03/2018 09:58

I was wondering how much annual leave someone who only works one day a week gets? In other words how many Mondays can they actually take off?

Fruitbowl2 · 24/03/2018 10:01

Green grass As someone who works part time, I'd say none. You'd just work other days to make up a missed Monday.

FacebookAteMyBrain · 24/03/2018 10:06

That’s not correct @fruitbowl

Mumofkids · 24/03/2018 10:07

@greengrass1234 the other week she stories how she'd done extra shifts that week, so I would imagine she swapped her day.

PavlovaPrincess · 24/03/2018 10:10

That Grazia article is horrendous. I don't know how long MP has been doing Flex Appeal, but if you didn't know her and read that article, you would think that she just set out to make herself herself and her family a brand so that she could attract advertisers.

Mumofkids · 24/03/2018 10:13

Pavlova it was quite a while ago, I'd imagine they'd have been very happy if it hadn't resurfaced!

shesakeeper · 24/03/2018 10:17

'None of it is staged' they say in that Grazia article. I call bullshit on that.

FacebookAteMyBrain · 24/03/2018 10:23

I really don’t think it’s fair to judge them based on an old article, but on how they act now. Social media has changed so much in such a short space of time. MP said earlier the flex work didn’t feature in the article but that was a choice of Grazia in terms of how they edited and what they wanted the article to be about (bloggers on Insta)

Fruitbowl2 · 24/03/2018 10:25

Facebook you're right, it's about 5 days holiday.

www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/holiday-entitlements

I wasn't judging them now on the article. I was pointing out they weren't required to be transparent back then, and that the aim was to sell stuff.

FacebookAteMyBrain · 24/03/2018 10:27

It probably seemed like a good wheeze back then. It’s only now people are starting to think through the ethical considerations more thoroughly.

Mrsdoubleskulls · 24/03/2018 10:30

'None of it is staged' they say in that Grazia article. I call bullshit on that.

I think the article was years ago, as it states they have 49,000 and 59,000 followers (or such), so they probably weren't staged at the time of the interview.

I'm pleased that MOD has stated from the outset her holiday is a (part)-freebie, but agree with others that there was no need to passive aggressively state that she knows people will judge her if she doesn't tag it as an ad.

Umm, I would judge if it wasn't tagged as an ad. You are selling a holiday to me. I would like to know that.

I will say though, now that I know what's what, I am looking forward to seeing her posts. I love seeing holiday destinations and posts.

PavlovaPrincess · 24/03/2018 10:32

I'm not judging MP, rather pointing out the terrible journalism.

It's almost like a sly dig at the Insta families on behalf of Grazia.

FacebookAteMyBrain · 24/03/2018 10:33

Grazia has always been a bit shit. At least it’s consistent 😜

DottyDotts · 24/03/2018 10:36

Marking place

Mumofkids · 24/03/2018 10:36

Shesakeeper, I reckon at the time it wasn't staged.. that's why it was all much more real.

shesakeeper · 24/03/2018 10:39

Well it just goes to show that they all sniffed a money making opportunity and went for it. Now they're raking it in and it's all got away from them a bit.

Mmm. The ASA has views on this too. Didn't they just prosecute someone for advertising without declaring it on Instagram? Sounds like they're wising up to it and a lot of Insta-Influencers should probably sharpen up a bit, there are a couple of recent articles about it if you search.

Fruitbowl2 · 24/03/2018 11:04

Mrs doubleskulls the article is August 2016.

Mrsdoubleskulls · 24/03/2018 11:17

Wow, really? How did they grow their followers so quickly? I'm impressed.

Thanks for clarifying.
