mummydaddyandme is quite,Er, bleurgh

But they are YouTube as well

Someone upthread mentioned charlotte Louise taylor she's given up work to blog and vlog full time, she's nice enough but it's as central there as well

Collywobbles1984 · 26/03/2018 18:18

Has anybody seen Susie Verrills stories today? Men sending her dick pics, which she clearly finds hilarious as she saw fit to share said pics with her audience. Those same men who think nothing of doing that sort of thing are the same people she's parading her kids in front of on a daily basis. Weird.

RunMummyRun68 · 26/03/2018 18:20

Yes I saw her stories. I get odd requests from men on Instagram too, but not had any pics thank god!!

DillyDilly · 26/03/2018 18:30

Well MOD’s holiday posts on IG to date certainly wouldn’t have me wanting to rush to book a holiday in St Lucia, the opposite in fact.

And FOD must have spent most of his weekend filming him bumbling along looking after his twins. You’d think from him that a man minding his own children is a rare event and hard, chaotic work.

My DH has often minded our children my himself while I’ve been away, just as I’ve minded them when he’s been away. It’s hardly unique.

All FOD is doing is showing us is that he is a smug bore.

HolyMountain · 26/03/2018 18:34

I see the free clothing offers have started for StylemeSunday. It’s such obvious begging , she’s got the neck of a giraffe!

PavlovaPrincess · 26/03/2018 18:36

Ah but she's doing a good deed by 'promoting small brands' @HolyMountain

It's like, literally charity work Hmm

RunMummyRun68 · 26/03/2018 18:39

It's all about the gin? mrs meldrum

I'm starting to go off her, used to quite like her too

It’s so depressing that so many women find these “instamums” aspirational. That’s why they fawn over them/attack the haterzz.

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 18:59

The kids these days.... So impressionable Wink

3asAbird · 26/03/2018 19:00

Lol at the hun brigade.

That's my issue the Aldi shops Poundland home bargains and to some extent Primark hauls come across as false as clearly they have high incomes and ahop elsewhere.

With the channel mums vloggers Insta mum's I think some of content is dictated as they often get freebies at same time altjough hardly any if them dosclosed the Emma Bridgewater radios were free.

They all get sent gift cards to do hauls to iceland/river island /next /new look they been quite upfront and honest about this.

I do wonder if some if Primark hauls Poundland are their own money or giveb gift cards.

I remember last Iceland promotions Mrs meldrum saying she thourght Iceland was bit chavvy but she was pleasently surprised then did not set foot In Iceland again for a year.

She doing a new promotion with Iceland as she looked fed up In Iceland on one of her vlogs the other day.

I cant stand the over exppsure of hello fresh advertising they clearly get all their boxes for free but it bores me to tears.

I do shop at aldis, iceland and lidls but I'm honest I prefer waitrose and marks or sainsburys.

They all do posts saying their purchases holidays and spa days are warranted as they deserve it.

Insta fans are scary

Negative posts or innocent questions get deleted.

I also worry about influence has on new mums.

They mostly negative about breastfeeding
Always pushing their perfect prep machines.
If you ever try make helpful comment you get accused being breastfeeding mafia and all we get is fed is best jog on.

Also us their any Insta mum who doesn't have a sleepy head?

CookingUpAStormTonight · 26/03/2018 19:06

Wow, that really is an eye opener for me. @stylemesunday puts out her request for small brands and they all talk into line. Just astonishing....... and guess who's paying. Not @stylemesunday, I'm sure.

CookingUpAStormTonight · 26/03/2018 19:07

call into line

EeebyMum · 26/03/2018 19:10

The Modfod full-time nanny never gets a mention either.

IsThisAWindUp · 26/03/2018 19:11

If I want to find out about a particular product i often look to mumsnet because I know you get honest opinions. I would actually be more inclined to buy from a mumsnet small brand shoutout than one on Instagram because you know it will be unbiased.

On that note, I have a parent apparel sweatshirt and it is lovely quality, love the design and wear it to death. Have bought a t shirt for another family member and they said they loved it too. I don’t like the Gin ones though, I’m not a fan of alcohol related quips and find the whole mummy driven to drink thing boring now.

ElizabethLemon · 26/03/2018 19:12

@EeebyMum do you think fod locks the nanny in a cupboard while he does his videos?

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 26/03/2018 19:14

The Modfod full-time nanny never gets a mention either.

MOD addressed this on the bloggers and brands thread in S&B; she stated that they had a nanny in London but the twins are now in nursery.

thornyhousewife · 26/03/2018 19:18

I think instamums have about two minutes of shelf life left.

I have no qualms with their monetization, I reckon I'd do the same in their shoes.

But man aren't they boooooring. Rubbish content. I can't bear to see another 30 something spoiled North London mum wearing a slogan sweatshirt and standing in front of a mural she didn't paint.

Where are the interesting visual accounts now?

And fucking Hague blue F&B walls ugghhh. Kill me know.

Fruitbowl2 · 26/03/2018 19:22

I love the #project333challenge someone else mentioned. I want to throw everything away and paint my interiors (nonf&b) white...if it weren't for the family.

IsThisAWindUp · 26/03/2018 19:25

Actually the thing that made me use the unfollow button on some of the interiors accounts I follow wasn't the undisclosed adverts (that was part of it) but when a few of them started saying how they were 'drawn to the light' again and 'feeling inspired by white' and were repainting their Railings rooms back to white. After months and months of telling people to 'come over to the dark side' and #styleitdark because it 'makes things ping' I knew then that they were really only interested in flogging more and more stuff to their followers. That and putting the Christmas tree up in November and taking it down on Boxing Day.

MabelthePenguin · 26/03/2018 19:27

When a brand pays for a family of Instagram/youtube whatever I cannot be the only person it puts off the company, it genuinely does!
I'd have so much more respect for the said brand if they paid for a family with a seriously ill child or disabled child to enjoy a holiday and advertise it online maybe a short video of the said family saying thank you or something.
I myself have a disabled ds and we are very fortunate that my dh has a good job with understanding employers if he ever needs to attend an appt or something with us, I cannot work my ds never sleeps/constant apps I could go on and on but you get the idea were very lucky we can afford to take our 2 children on a holiday once or twice a year however there are so many others in a less fortunate position and a holiday really is the most amazing thing for us it gives us all a break from the day to day life with a disabled child and we feel all refreshed after it (we are lucky ds2 copes so well on holiday although we do stick to the same places)
Anyway this has completely gone off topic and sorry if my post makes no sense but I wish brands would wake up and realise this advertising on Instagram does nothing but put most people off, advertise in a different way or work with the many instagram accounts with a sn child!
Nedintheclouds is a brilliant account to follow and she runs Auction (an auction for autism) she is lovely! cannot recommend her enough.

I used to love Instagram now I don't enjoy it at all, the constant "can anyone recommend" begging for free shit! is so transparent and I can't believe people actually reply with useful information to these instagrammers!
Mrs Meldrum advertising her PO Box while her youngest was in hospital just made me lose it! Begging for companies to send you things while your child is in hospital still is the lowest of low, they grate on me so much they beg for everything and really think they're the next big thing on youtube.

MabelthePenguin · 26/03/2018 19:30

And for the record I don't follow Mrs Meldrum so don't need to "unfollow because I'm jealous of her life" she's popped up on follow Friday which is how I discovered her.

Pinacollider · 26/03/2018 19:31

I know this isn't the point or this tread... But does anybody else thing FOD airbrushes his photos? His forehead is VERY wrinkly in videos but not so much in photos Confused

FetchMeMyLatte · 26/03/2018 19:33

I've been reading this thread with interest.

I quite like some 'Instamums' simply because as a first time mum, I do value some of their opinions put across, and there are some who have genuinely helped me. However, I do agree with the general vibe of this thread. I have no quarrels with watching a video when affiliate links/advertisements are declared, be it in the intro or in the description/title. I'll still watch it but I am happy to have the knowledge that it is a paid promotion thus may not be 100% accurate.
I also find it annoying when these facts are NOT declared (I thought there was a Youtube policy where you HAD to declare paid promotions?). I love Mama Reid, but I can only watch a few videos at a time as I am aware she is a full-time promoter. I respect that this is her job, but it is too much sometimes. But then again, at least she declares it on her videos and some posts.
I toyed with the idea of starting a channel, mainly to and act as a sort of therapy during pregnancy, however I am worried I'd become another full-time promoter and perhaps be tempted to not give honest opinions in order to keep a job. Hmmmm....

Also, I'd never heard of MOD or FOD before here and I am really not impressed with them :/ Any others that irritate people?

samatamfabahaba · 26/03/2018 19:39

The wife of one of the McFly members is at it now. Her story today is brimming with it today and it's just awful, I can't help but unfollow now which is a shame. (Not the wife of Tom, it's another one but I can't think of his name)

TakeMeToTheFresh · 26/03/2018 19:46

sam Tom's wife (G Fletcher) is just as bad, no?
