Soooo brave.

PavlovaPrincess · 26/03/2018 16:45

and have quite bravely opened up their entire lives to the world

Actual lol.

It's very brave to open your entire life up in exchange for free holidays, clothes, bag and not forgetting, cold, hard cash.

Is there some kind of award we can nominate them for?

shesakeeper · 26/03/2018 16:45

Err, Evsandme, many people here have explaining at length why they wouldn't expose their children on social media for financial gain.

And even if it were morally fine to do so, many of these instafamous parents continue to mislead their followers about the amount of advertising they're involved in.

That's the main issue here. And nobody from Instagram EVER wants to address it.

@shesakeeper yes brave. I’d love to see you do an honest blog about your day to day and watch the 600 other women on a similar post to this rip every aspect of your life to shreds. They deserve a few freebies to put up with you lot cussing them all day!

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 16:46

Yes had to come over here when even the holiday company deleted my query asking if mofod paid for their corfu holiday themselves. Even a average middle class family would struggle to afford these holidays. Why deceive people? This is where the cynicism comes from. Keep fangirling on their accounts to big up their egos though. They need after their luxury breaks.

TheEagle · 26/03/2018 16:47

But are they really honest? Isn’t that the trouble?

I’m fine with having a boring life!

Fruitbowl2 · 26/03/2018 16:48

Pavlova maybe for next year's Next/Hello mum of the year award...oh no, they're all white and middle class so that won't work 🤔

AdidasGirl · 26/03/2018 16:49

Apologies @BustleInYourHedgerow
I've never seen her do that before or I wouldn't of recommended her.
Her wedding video though is on another level.

shesakeeper · 26/03/2018 16:49

I haven't cussed anyone Evsandme, it's not my style to leap in with both feet and start a fight.

Yes I am very worried about the exposure of children on social media.

Yes I do think many Instagram influencers skirt around, or flount, advertising regulations.

Yes I do think that many accounts peddle unobtainable lifestyles.

But I'm capable of saying so reasonably.

@fruitbowl hahahaGrin

Evsandme · 26/03/2018 16:50

But realistically who cares? How is it gonna affect your life in any way if they are getting paid or not? Strip it back & you’re moaning about women who you will never meet or know, get paid for a post about something you never planned on using anyway, on a social media site you say is portraying an unrealistic way of living and isn’t a true representation of real life Hmm ... just log off guys. Focus on your own lives and happiness rather than making yourselves miserable looking at others

Greenhouseonthehill · 26/03/2018 16:51

Brave: ready to face and endure danger or pain; showing courage.

Umm, nope, they’re not brave.

shesakeeper · 26/03/2018 16:51

You know they have agents, right Evsandme? You know they plan ahead and stage their photographs and post them at certain times of day to maximise engagement? You know that when they ask for recommendations they're basically asking companies to send them stuff for free, right?

OP posts:
BustleInYourHedgerow · 26/03/2018 16:53

Oh, no need to apologise @adidasgirl! Really wasn't calling you out for recommending her. Just wanted to discuss it in the thread that's all!

PavlovaPrincess · 26/03/2018 16:55

Come on @Evsandme No need to be coy. Which of these bloggers are you really?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/03/2018 16:56

But I’m happy discussing stuff on the internet, Еvs

I’m sitting on a train and am very happy indeed, talking about the Insta shenanigans.
Can’t be saving lives al day long.

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 16:56

@evsandme stop trying to stifle the conversation. We get that on Instagram thanks.

IsThisAWindUp · 26/03/2018 16:57

I care, because if we allow social media to evolve the way it is evolving then my children will have to live in an even more consumerist focused, grabby, polarised society. And that does nobody any favours. Instamums are the thin end of a very long wedge.

Evsandme · 26/03/2018 16:58

Who cares if they have agents and it’s staged it’s instagram ahaha. I’d 100% do it if I had a good following why the hell not. You get free stuff sent to you for posting a picture?! Winning. And I’m not one of them, I wish I was! I’d be laughing all the way to the bank while you all sit here bitching

IsThisAWindUp · 26/03/2018 16:59

You sound like you would be ideal for the job Evs, if that is how you view it. Why don't you start a blog?

Fruitbowl2 · 26/03/2018 16:59

Kids and ads, Evs, kids and ads. Read the thread maybe.

MammaH2018 · 26/03/2018 17:00

I think for a lot of people it’s more the dishonest nature of it and that the major players seem to all be very similar and not an accurate portrayal of how life is for the very women they are pushing their product at
Like I said before, if they would just be real and say that they are from privileged families/have been paid to go on holidays and heavily “review” them/ have been trained what to post and when etc
It’s just a bare faced lie a lot of the time, wrapped up in the package of “this is normal day to day life”
And it’s just not

To the person down thread who asked how it affects us?
I shall tell you how.
The one and only time I've been 'influenced' by an Instamum to buy something.A number of the Instamums were obviously given a freebie in return for a favourable review were raving about them.
I bought it as it was very much in keeping with my style.
I think it was £68ish..
I spent my money.
My bag came.I soon realized it was so flimsy and not fit for purpose and I wouldn't be able to carry anything heavy in it.
Then after not even a week, the letters were peeling off.
I messaged the brand I had bought it from asking simply if I just iron the letters back on.
I was ignored and blocked.I messaged the 'influencer' who had 'influenced' my purchase. She said she hadn't had a problem with hers and guess what..I was blocked.
I emailed the brand..Never got a reply.
Said item went to the charity shop.
Lesson learned.
Never again.
