Interested to read this in the Guardian today

Stella But, my dear, notes around the house aren't insta-worthy! They lack 'understated' tones and are usually available in bright orange Grin

shesakeeper · 26/03/2018 13:26

I LOVE the Aldi realness movement. Every couple of weeks you take a pic of yourself and the kids in Aldi. The hun brigade will lap that shit up.

Mandeln · 26/03/2018 13:28

'Your vibe attracts your tribe'

Bleurgh!

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 13:28

Remember when Iceland had ‘real mums’ advertising for them through vlogs?!

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 13:30

A fucking photo of hands in a jumper with sleeves that are far too long? cradling a cup of tea in a cath kidston mug and getting tanned, hair free legs in shot with cosy socks and a woodburner.

MammaH2018 · 26/03/2018 13:30

Instagram filters that make everything look slightly out of focus
Spending obscene amounts of money on scatter cushions/throws/rugs for your second living room
Buying copious amounts of candles/Reed diffusers and doing Instagram stories about the amazing/gorgeous smell

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 26/03/2018 13:30

[MOD] could have donated that holiday.

Don't be daft. Of course she couldn't. The client wants MOD, and her brand (including two of the children), and her 465k followers.

Mandeln · 26/03/2018 13:31

Ah yes I remember the Iceland posts! As if any of the 'real mums' would ever set foot in an Iceland store if they weren't given vouchers for it!

Fruitbowl2 · 26/03/2018 13:34

yes Yippee, what if someone ugly won it 😱

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 13:35

I’ve noticed all trace of Asha is gone. The hashtags, the poetry etc

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 13:35

Fruitbowl 😂

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 13:35

Thank you for the laughs this morning mumsnetters. Its a cheery old place here. I might have to shut down my Instagram because free speech/ thought is shut down over there.

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 13:44

@takemetothefresh yes lots of farrow and ball. Though I own my Victorian house in London (mortgage free now) I could never bring myself to buy farrow and ball when there are so many cheaper /better alternatives. We live on one salary (husband is a London bus driver) with 4 children. Not rolling in it but certainly comfortably happy.

Softkitty2 · 26/03/2018 13:45

Been following this thread.

Re: the #fannyadmin. MOD did say however you want your fanny to be whether waxed, hairy etc etc is fine and totally up to the person. She WASN'T saying that waxed was the only way to go.

See this is where some people on here come across as just being haters-- the whole picture isn't discussed and things are just taken out of context to have something to be negative about.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 13:49

I like Susie’s most recent pic. That is the kind of stuff I want to see. Not outfit of the day. Massive, leaky tits!

ISaidIWasTired · 26/03/2018 13:49

Yes agree with Kitty.

This is an interesting thread and I agree with many of the points but it's a shame when it slides into being quite bitchy/cutting as it takes away from the discussion and leads to people calling out the 'haters'

The Natasha B stuff and Fanny admin stuff just took it downhill for me.

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 13:49

Anything from from mod comes across as disingenuous..... She even plugged the the salon.

tralaaa · 26/03/2018 13:50

Emily Norris (she who can do no wrong!) done an Easter hamper for her boys, when she got to the main present for the eldest I switched off, it seems like doing it for the sake of it, an Easter egg should be just fine, not loads of land fill just to have a vlog, also she is now doing loads of colab work. Who is lovely is Charlotte Louise Taylor.

Softkitty2 · 26/03/2018 13:55

Also a genuine question I have is this--

consent have been discussed extensively on here regarding the children being on social media.

A childs consent is not needed in most things and it is all about the parental consent so surely this also applies here?

Fair enough if the older girls clearly object to being featured or when they are of the age can say they want all their photos/videos taken down.

CookingUpAStormTonight · 26/03/2018 14:00

Old cynic that no am, I love the way they are all padding out the gaps between ads with absolute crap...... endless photos of hot cross buns, motivational phrases boak and throwback photos to prove how thrifty and non consumerist they are!!

BarryChuckle · 26/03/2018 14:03

I do quite like NB but don’t agree with her treatment of Asha then claiming to be a mental health advocate, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to be honest.

Also, she did a YouTube video explaining that her Mum gave her up for adoption as a child and she grew up in foster care so she isn’t from a comfortable or privileged background as suggested up thread.

I’ve recently deleted my Instagram account as I was being sucked into it far too much and then realised how much it was actually effecting my moods.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 14:05

She had a really shitty time but she has married into money which has enabled her to take this path. I really liked her before the mental mutha stuff.

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 14:06

@cookingupastorm spot on. A few lazy posts and its back to ads.

TheEagle · 26/03/2018 14:08

I’ve never looked at Instagram before reading this thread!

Oh. My. God. is all I can say! I’ve lost so much time looking at it, how do people have time for this stuff and also live their lives (I.e. do the shopping/cooking/cleaning etc?!) Are their phones never out of their hands? I’m not trying to be snarky, I’m genuinely baffled by it.

That Easter box stuff is madness, so many unnecessary presents. I feel like I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole, maybe I’m an old fogey (38) who just doesn’t get it?
