Interested to read this in the Guardian today

I find both movements make me feel far worse about myself. I spend very little time on Instagram but come across some of this stuff in other places.

Shesakeeper Flowers

Reality is rarely your 'tribe' rushing round to listen to you talk 'at any time' as you all sit in your beautifully curated living room, and offering endless support through a bad patch. And it feels really shit to be told that it is.

shesakeeper · 26/03/2018 12:40

My 'tribe' stay the fuck away from me when I'm ill, because I don't answer my phone. And many just don't really know what to do with me. 'Oh she's down AGAIN, what's she got to be down for?'

People still expect you to 'man up'.

I've yet to see mental illness dealt with sensitively or honestly by instaslebs.

Babaloo her background I think is journalism.
She used to be a channel mum vloggers but left.
I think she has her own experience of mental health.
I think she means well but not noticed het skating others I knew something had gone on with asga as she did blog post about it.

Was mumma Hodge lodge also involved as she talked about being deceived.

Insta mum's have their own little cliques.

I agree

Parenting the f out of life
Smashing it
Muthas
Anything that uses too many huns reminds me of netmums!
It takes a village crap
Strong girls t shirts

All do my head in and seem unavoidable on Insta.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 12:54

Defo not a journalist!

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 12:55

What happened to Bethanie lunn I wonder. Natasha started making videos with her, then moved on to Asha and now it’s all about Mary.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 26/03/2018 12:58

It reminds me of that FB copy and paste from a few months ago, the 'my kettle is always on, I'm always ready to listen' one. Often posted by people who you know in real life aren't willing to help at all.

I agree shesakeeper it's utterly shite. The yesmum cards are the biggest load of trash in my opinion, if your problems can be fixed with a card saying 'you are loved' or 'you've got this' then you don't really have much to worry about.
MOFOD accounts are really quite tasteless but I imagine the agents are pushing it and they are extremely profitable to manage. The Meldrums are fairly obscene.

Mumofkids · 26/03/2018 13:04

Asha is on IG, she has a few of the old friends (who must've stuck by her) but her account is private.

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 13:09

Instamum tick list

House renovations
Body positive vibes
Pass me the wine/gin
Be kind
Parent slogan tees
Wear scamp and dude freebies
Small brand shout outs
Flog overpriced stuff to mugs
Advertise for m&s but shop at aldi

Anything else please add to the list....

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 13:12

A floaty pleated skirt
Lots of holidays
Jumping on any bandwagon

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 13:12

@mumofkids those cards make me laugh out loud.... What bunch of fools need cards to tell them how to feel? This is a business? The madness of it all.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 26/03/2018 13:13

Wear scamp and dude freebies

Is Scamp and Dude the one who is having beef with Asda over the super hero thing? I feel like they must give out a lot of freebies as everyone is always going on about it! I do quite like their stuff though

TakeMeToTheFresh · 26/03/2018 13:14

What bunch of fools need cards to tell them how to feel? This is a business? The madness of it all

I laughed out loud at this response Grin mainly because it's true, partly because of how it's worded

Although most Insta 'lovelies' would shoot you down and accuse you of lacking positivity and "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"

MammaH2018 · 26/03/2018 13:16

Meeting up with your “chums” for cocktails
Advertising the same products as each other - within the same few days of each other
Dressing the kids in high end clothes/occasion wear (the kids are never in dirty leggings or muddy old trainers)

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 13:18

Oh its definitely nice stuff but I don't need to pay £30 plus for a child's sweatshirt when I can get a cheaper one at h&m.
Though they may have copyrighted their slogans. The high street will copy copy copy. It all filters through to all price points. Not fair but what is these days?

MammaH2018 · 26/03/2018 13:18

“Follow Friday” and advertising the same Instagram accounts every time (always the equally as popular/equally as pretentious accounts that already have about 30K followers!)

CookingUpAStormTonight · 26/03/2018 13:18

I'm sure MOD will swiftly follow this freebie up with a midwife post to remind us all what a good, socially minded person she is. That day a week must surely establish her credentials.......

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 26/03/2018 13:19

Hadn't really seen Natasha Bailie before - yes her Instagram is..... Interesting.

The problem is, there is a fine line between encouraging parents to be open about the struggles of raising small people, and just trivialising mental health completely. Pretty much everyone finds things really hard somewhere along the line, it doesn't mean that you need a 'life coach' to come and sort you out.

faceandpalm · 26/03/2018 13:20

I like yesmum a lot. Her philosophies might not be to everyone's taste but promoting the importance of self-care and positive birth experiences is fantastic, in my humble opinion. Her hypnobirthing track really helped me.

I think you know my views on MOD though. I hope the ASA do something about her content.

faceandpalm · 26/03/2018 13:22

@CookingUpAStormTonight I noticed that PR tactic, too! Obvious diversion tactic.

TakeMeToTheFresh · 26/03/2018 13:23

Suggestions of "Hoping over" to other accounts that are equally as twee and samey same

Farrow and Ball paint

Waitrose

Insta stories in Waitrose Carparks

Waitrose shopping

Hoover excitement, usually due to the account holder being "gifted" the said hoover

Parenting the shit out of life

There is even one woman on there called The Home That Made Me who had the sheer cheek to Insta story herself walking into Aldi and say "I just don't know how anyone can afford usual Big Supermarket prices" Hmm

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 13:24

@takemetothefresh.... If I really wanted to I could just write out quotes on post it notes (why spend money when you can diy/or get freebies) and stick them around the house..... But that's as crazy as talking to yourself.... First sign of madness Grin

Fruitbowl2 · 26/03/2018 13:25

MOD said she is writing a third book. The 'midwife' posts are for material I imagine.

onemouseplace · 26/03/2018 13:25

#adultheadache is my particular bugbear and makes me want to throw my phone across the room.
